Hey Tigers! The weekend of November 7th-9th, I attended the Fall District Board meeting and am here with a couple updates!• There have been many

changes to the YOF.• There are now 45 Divisions in

the Pacific Northwest District! As the Early Bird deadline for dues has already passed, it is still dues season! The season closes on December 1st so I ask that every club pays their dues on time or they will not be in good standing with Key Club International, meaning the club will be suspended and at risk of becoming inactive. Finally, as January approaches, unfortunately (for me at least) we will soon be electing a new Lieutenant Governor for the 2015-2016 year! The only major requirements are:• Member must be in good

standing with KCI.• Member must be class of

2016 or beyond.Email me if you’re interested! It is honestly a life changing experience that you’ll never forget. See you soon, Tigers <3

The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key Club International held within the Kiwanis International Foundation.

This fund uses earned interest to help Key Clubs and Key Club members serve the world by providing grants for service opportunities. The fund also provides academic scholarships for higher education. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through a portion of your Key Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin Fellowships.

YOF grants can help you take action. Look around and identify the things that need to get done in your school, community or world.

This being said, all clubs are encouraged to apply for YOF grants if you have a service project in mind that may be costly. Keep the YOF in mind throughout your term and present your application to your Lieutenant Governor to review and help you through the application process.

OCTOBER DCMRECAP

“On October 22nd, 2014 we had our monthly divisional councilmeeting with our sister division, Division 34 sharks! Since it was October, our DCM consisted of costume-wearing and pumpkin carving! It was great to start getting into business since wewere a month into the school year, our clubs did their share-outs and as well as what costume they were wearing. Also, our Lieutenant Governor shared out some of the spirit gear ideas of our division for the upcoming 66th annual District Convention; which I am very excited to attend! Putting all the business out of the way, we ended the DCM with icebreakers and pumpkin carving. It was my very first time ever carving a pumpkin, it was a real struggle. Overall, it was a blast, especially since we got a chance to bond with our sister division, Division 34 sharks! Can't wait for the next DCM!

P.S. Sorry for making your house smell like pumpkins Tyler.” -Jodelein Garcia

DO THE DUESDISTRICT TREASURER

ANEESH PAPPUHey Key Club Treasurers! This is Aneesh Pappu, your district treasurer. I hope you are all having a wonderful and productive school year and, for all you seniors, I hope that college applications are going well!

We are currently in the midst of my favorite time of the year – dues season! Dues season runs until December 1st and is the time frame in which all clubs must submit dues in order to be a part of Key Club International. Although there are many service organizations aside from Key Club that do not require payments to join, there is no group that provides you with the same level of opportunities as we do. When you pay dues to join, you’re joining an international organization with ties and projects all over the world. Your dues provide you with the opportunity to fundraise for projects such as the Eliminate Project in order to cure deadly diseases around the world. The benefits don’t stop there however; joining Key Club provides you and your club with resources to succeed. As a paid member, you and your club immediately receive the benefits of district support ranging from the help of your Lieutenant Governor and District Executive Officers to the aid of the adult Kiwanians who support us in each and every endeavor we undertake.

As we enter October a very important deadline for dues submission is arriving – Early Bird dues are due November 1st. Although it is not required to meet this deadline, submitting your club’s dues by this time comes with a myriad of benefits, including priority seating at DCON and an Early Bird patch for your club’s banner. In order to meet this deadline, each club must submit $12.50 per member for at least 15 members through the Membership Update Center (MUC), which can be found at www.keyclub.org/MUC. If you have not logged into the MUC this school year yet, it is crucial that you sit down with your adviser, login, and begin the registration process. If you have any issues with login credentials, be sure to email [email protected] and include me as well ([email protected]).

After the Early Bird deadline, the final deadline for dues submission is December 1st. Unfortunately, clubs who do not submit their dues by this date will be placed on delinquent status, which can eventually translate into suspended and even inactive statuses for clubs. In order to avoid this, I highly recommend that you finish the dues process as soon as possible! I am also always available to assist if you have any issues, so don’t hesitate to shoot me an email or Facebook message if you ever need to!

Happy Dues Season!

In Caring & Service,Aneesh PappuPacific Northwest District TreasurerKey Club International [email protected]
