Introduction

• The river Foyle is in north west Ireland.• It doesn`t have a source like most rivers, it starts at

the confluence of rivers Finn and Mourne.• It flows through the city of Derry/LondonDerry• And opens out to the sea at Lough Foyle.

History• Derry was built on the Foyle due to

access to the sea which was good for trade.

• In the siege of Derry 1810, Derry was run by the Protestants but besieged by the catholic army.

• So when royal navy ships came via the river to provide food, there was no point in besieging the city.

• Later on in history, the same groups of people were fighting each other for their beliefs

• The two communities were separated by the Foyle.

• Finally, there was a peace agreement and they built the peace bridge.

Wildlife

• The River Foyle is a good fishing river.

• It`s a good fishing river because it`s a salmon river.

• Here`s some animals:• Seagulls• Seals(only in Lough Foyle)• Trout• Salmon• Atlantic salmon
