The Rio Grande It is used for irrigation; that means, its used to water crops and fields nearby. The Rio Grande It is the fourth longest river in the country. It is 1,885 miles long. The Rio Grande Three states and two countries are joined by this river. The Rio Grande The 3 states are: Colorado Texas New Mexico We (U.S.) share the river with Mexico. The Rio Grande empties into the Gulf of Mexico. What river does that remind of? Mississippi The Rio Grande The Rio Grande begins in the San Juan Mountains in Colorado.
