In addition, the San Antonio club has renamed the Tom Haslett tournament to the Ed Arionus Classic, which will be held in August of this year. Ed has always been there for the club and supported San Antonio. New Names for our Tournaments, same Club to provide a Great Tournament.
Submitted by Marissa Carlisle The Lakeside Horseshoe Club had a successful March tournament. Our club would like to thank everyone that came out and attended our first Douglas Carlisle Classic. Also, Please Remember that we have our Alamo Classic on July 14th, food and drinks will be available and donations are always appreciated. Here in San Antonio, we finally decided to rename 2 of our Tournaments to commemorate Contributors to Lakeside Club’s success. The 1st being the renaming of the Shamrock Classic to the Douglas Carlisle Classic. Doug has attend every Tournament & Weekly League.

PROPOSED THPA BYLAWS CHANGE ELECTION OF OFFICERS (PBC-A_2018)
CURRENT LANGUAGE SECTION 4 Terms of Office a. Officers shall serve a term of three years and assume their duties on January 1st of the year following their election. b. The order in which the Officers are elected shall be as follows, President and 4th VP shall be elected in the same year, the 2nd VP and Secretary/Treasurer shall be elected the next year, followed by the 1st, 3rd and 5th VP.

Bill Campbell’s Membership Report I am happy to report that as of June 1, 2018 we have the following "335 PAID" Members of the THPA!!!!!
New Members for 2018
Coyce Allen reports that Texas had the largest Membership increase in the Nation in 2017 with a gain of 50 additional Members over 2016. Michigan was 2nd gaining 26 Members for the same time period. On the other end of the spectrum, Mis-souri lost 67 Members during the same time period while Ohio lost 40 Members.

2018 THPA STATE SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP Buffalo, TX
October 5th through 7th, 2018 To participate in the State Singles, an Adult pitcher must have pitched in a minimum of 4 THPA Sanctioned Tournament between August 28, 2017 and September 1, 2018. Junior pitchers must have pitched in a minimum of 2 THPA Sanctioned Tournaments during that same time frame. For more information on the THPA State Singles, contact THPA Tournament Director Bryanna Beusch, 26 Back Gate Rd, Palestine, TX 75803. PH: (903) 373-3253 or (903) 373-3311. Bryanna’s email is [email protected]. Entry fee is $28.50 per person. The deadline to sign up for the THPA State Singles Championship is September 1, 2018. Bryanna Beusch’s Update on the 2019 World Tournament being held in Wichita Falls: I have spoken with Lindsey Barker and we are getting a meeting set up for us to travel to Wichita Falls. I am asking that anyone interested in going to let me know so I can let them know an approximate number. Wichita Falls is very excited to be hosting the 2019 World Tournament and cannot wait to meet those that will be there to help through the journey.

THPA STATE DOUBLES VOTE PLANNED AT THE STATE SINGLES As you probably know, the current THPA STANDING RULES specify the STATE DOUBLES TOURNAMENT be separated into 30 FT and 40 FT Divisions. Prior to the STATE DOUBLES, the THPA Officers received a lot of Feedback telling us THPA Members would prefer the STATE DOUBLES be a MIXED TOURNA-MENT. The feedback we received indicated a lot of the Pitchers view the STATE DOUBLES as a family-type Event pairing Spouses, Parent/Child, Parent/Grandchild, etc together as partners. As a result of this feedback, and because this is covered under the STAND-ING RULES, the THPA Executive Council voted to change the THPA STATE DOUBLES TOURNAMENT to a MIXED DOUBLES TOURNAMENT for 2018 ON-LY. For the THPA State Doubles Tournament to continue as a MIXED Tourna-ment, the Members must ratify the MIXED Format at the THPA Meeting at the STATE SINGLE CHAMPIONSHIP. If the Members do NOT ratify the MIXED Format, the 2019 STATE DOUBLES TOURNAMENT will revert to 2 separate Classes: 30 FT & 40 FT. So please be prepared to vote on this issue at the THPA Meeting that will be conducted at the THPA STATE SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP. This is YOUR State Doubles Tournament, & your Officers want the format to be in accordance with the wishes of the majority of the THPA Membership!

From the Kitchen Table of Your Editor I really like getting positive stories like this one from our Members. This is from Doris Hieden and is a Great Reminder how important it is to make that call or write that note to somebody you know, because it may be just what they were needing. Here’s the note Doris Hieden sent in to me This is just something I was thinking about the other day and decided to send it to you. You may or may not us it in The Ringer. The 2018 year started out rough, in January I lost a friend that was very dear to my heart, he taught me everything I know about riding cutting horses. Then, in February I had knee surgery and I’m not bouncing back as quickly as I hoped. So what this is leading up to is that I had decided not to pitch at all this year, and maybe even quit all together, until I got a text message followed by a phone call asking if I was okay, said they had not seen me around this year, and hadn't seen where I pitched in any tournaments, and just wanted to make sure that I was okay. This one kind act has made me realize how much people do care and notice when someone is missing. Most of us don't go ahead and make the effort to pick up the phone and call, and just say: Hey, are you ok? I think one thing we can all take from this is, it makes the person that has stopped pitching, want to come back, so if you noticed that someone you used to pitch with has stopped showing up, just give them a call, cause it can make a difference in whether we keep them or lose them as a member. All I can say is Thank You Jeff and Debra Ratcliff for caring!

Weatherford Classic May 19, 2018
From John Allison Sat. May 19, Love Street Park hosted a THPA tournament at “Noon Lions Ringer Alley”. Twelve pitching courts were available for the tournament. 26 contestants pitched in 4 classes. The farthest contestant came from Odes-sa and 1 even from Oklahoma. Contestants were from all ages: women, boys, elders, men. Each class had 6 or 7 pitchers and pitched 5 or 6 games. With the heat, all were worn out and appreciated any shade under the tents that were brought. Thanks to all who came. We look forward to our next event. The local club invites all to drop by on Monday nights 6:30 to pitch a few shoes if you are ever in town. The Pits are located at Love Street Park, 309 Love Street.
