As fodder, nesting material, or dye for wool, lichens are utterly unique, complex and beautiful organisms that also serve a role in understanding patterns of pollution dispersal. Here on Cape Cod, the land is much enriched by these organisms. Focusing on local species, we will peer into the fascinating structure, ecology, and natural history of lichens. While her field work has been mostly with marine mammals, Liz calls herself an “aspiring generalist.” Her investigations have led her to assist with research on kelp, humpback whales, songbirds and seals. Liz is also the author of three collections of poetry: Once Removed, Approaching Ice and Interpretive Work. The Poet-in-Residence at Brandeis University, she lives in Truro and works as a naturalist on the Dolphin Fleet and on expedition ships around the globe. She loves nothing more than to spend time poking along shorelines, scanning for wildlife, and sharing what she knows with others. RSVP at the Concierge Desk by June 13.

Where did May go?? I want to thank you for your patience and feedback as we continue to work through the trial location of the Concierge. Also happening in May, we said goodbye to Christine Bezio, with Krystal Leoni fulfilling all roles of the Business Office, so please reach out to her with any questions. At a recent Talking Point meeting, residents expressed concern about how our community acknowledges and communicates friends’ and neighbors’ illnesses, etc. A group of about a dozen residents met and wanted to continue the conversation with more residents in the room. Diana Gavoni, our part-time social worker, will facilitate discussion over coffee in the Point Room. She will also discuss her role here.
