Dear Church Family and Friends,
Later on this month, we will commemorate the Last
Supper in a special service on the Thursday before Easter. In
Matthew, Mark and Luke’s gospels, the Last Supper coincides
with the Jewish feast of Passover. In John’s gospel, it takes
place a day earlier. Professor Colin Humphreys, who is a
scientist at the University of Cambridge, says that it is all due
to a calendar mix-up and claims that a case can finally be made
for a fixed date for Easter. It’s a complicated formula, but
when it’s all said and done, Humphreys says that there were
two calendars in use at the time of Jesus’ death and this
essentially accounts for the difference in time.
We have many of these inconsistencies in the Bible.
But does it really matter if the stories vary occasionally? Does
it make us doubt the gospel as a whole because there are two
different dates for Jesus’ last meal with his followers?
The part of the Last Supper that is important for me is
the meal shared together. Jesus took the unleavened bread in
his hands, he blessed it, he lifted it up, and he broke it into
pieces. He said to those gathered around the table, this is
just plain old bread, but it has become sacred because we
share it together around a table. Remember me when you
break bread together. ……….cont. next page

This little mouse has a big responsibility in our church. She keeps all the music flowing for Sunday service and anything in between.
She is super talented and such a laid-back and easy going personality. You will see her front and center on Sunday morning wearing her robe….no, not her bathrobe! She is very approachable so be sure to thank her for all the DIRECTION she gives us throughout the year.
Surely, you know this busy little mouse!!

Special Person of the Month
For the month of April, 2014
Our Special Person is:
Our Lord, Jesus Christ NAME: Jesus Christ
OCCUPATION: Biblical Figure
BIRTH DATE: c 6 BCE (December 25th)
DEATH DATE: c 30 (Good Friday)
PLACE OF BIRTH: Bethlehem
PLACE OF DEATH: Jerusalem
AKA: Jesus son of Joseph
Jesus of Nazareth
Christ
Jesus the Nazarene
FULL NAME: Jesus Christ
PARENTS: Mary and Joseph
HOME TOWN: Nazareth, Galilee
CAUSE OF DEATH: Crucifixion
When the month of April was directly upon us and we had no “Person of the Month”, for this article, we decided that a most appropriate ‘Person’ might be Our Lord, Jesus Christ! Sounds easy enough….but, not so much. Even with all the information to be had and yes, we all know the stories from the beginning to the end, there is so much more to be learned and understood. And how do you really convey (in a newsletter column) the amazing and wondrous teachings, preachings and miracles of this most special person. Well, you don’t.
But, what you can do is remind anyone reading this column that the most important reference on the preaching’s of the kingdom of God, that is available to them, is the Bible! There is no other book anywhere that will give you all that you need to lead a Christian life. Not only is it the best selling book of all time (with estimated annual sales of 100 million copies) it has had a major influence on literature and history, especially in the West where it was the first mass-printed book. Now, if this won’t peek your interest …. then nothing will.
So, in this holy season of Lent what an appropriate
time to really know, more fully, Our Lord, Jesus Christ and incorporate daily reading of your bible so that you can better know the words and works of our Lord.
This will be the best read you will ever experience!
Beside You He Always Stands By: Fred Stepp
Close your eyes
Open your heart
Pray to God
That’s how it starts.
He surrounds you with
a beautiful light
all darkness fades
your heart becomes bright!
You feel as if you are
walking on air
The Spirit of God is
Everywhere.
Don’t dwell on your troubles
putting yourself down
God loves you as you are
how does that sound?
His arms are around you
He is always holding your hand
smile, hope and love
for beside you
He always stands!

Daffodil Hope
In Lisa Genova’s novel Love Anthony , Olivia lives on Nantucket Island, where winter is long but daffodils bloom even while it’s still cold. In one scene, she watches the flowers “shivering in the wind, impos-sibly bright and fragile and brave against the cold grayness.” Struggling with deep grief, Olivia finds hope in the bright yellow blooms after a long bleak winter. She embraces the daffodil as a sign that summer will come again — and that “life will return to her as well.” In Christ, God gives us hope that sometimes ap-pears vibrant against the grayness of earthly life. We cling to it because we’ve seen the promise made good before — winter yielding to summer, a new beginning granted — and we trust that new life will return to us, as well.
