We tweet our lives away saying how we can’t wait to grad- uate and leave the house and go to college some- where that is not the old boring El Paso we have grown up in. And now it’s time to finally leave! Start a new life somewhere else while going to college, meet new people, get to know different places, and of course all the fun that comes with college. We all think of the easy, positive things there is when we leave town, most importantly because our parents won’t be there to watch our every move because we’re finally going to be free! e thing is, we don’t usually think about the fact that we’re not going to get home to our mom’s delicious homemade dishes when we’re exhausted from school and work. We won’t be able to ask for some extra money we could use here and there. It might even be possible that we could ACTUALLY miss El Paso. It’s the small things that we all miss the most. In high school, we all agree that we all want to leave out of town for college, but the sad thing is most of us are going our separate ways. Some people stay here, some people leave to different cities all around. Leaving our home and thinking about all the changes that come with it is bittersweet, but we just have to enjoy every part of our lives. Trying crazy new things in life is what makes it fun. Finally, Senior year! It is time to close our high school chapters and start a whole new one most of us call LIFE! Throughout high school, most of us long for the day we can leave home on nights our parents don’t let us go out to that one party everyone will be at. We tweet our lives away saying how we can’t wait to grad-uate and leave the house and go to college some-where that is not the old boring El Paso we have grown up in.

The thing is, we don’t usually think about the fact that we’re not going to get home to our mom’s delicious homemade dishes when we’re exhausted from school and work. We won’t be able to ask for some extra money we could

use here and there.

Texas A&M University Class of 2016

Wassup A & M,So I’ve been “talking” to this guy for about two months. I would consider myself picky, but I re-ally like this guy. He’s weird. The only thing that bothers me is he’s always making excuses for us not hanging out. I feel like I put in more effort than him. Now this other guy is trying really hard to be with me. He is nice and I really like that he’s always up for anything. Do I give this new guy a chance because he is giving me the attention I deserve or stay with the first guy who I really like but isn’t showing much of an effort?-Confused Chica

Dear Confused Chica,That’s a tough one, and I know because I’ve been in that position. I came to the theory that us girls are attracted to the jerks FOR SOME ODD REASON, and we push away the nice boys. The “jerks” don’t give us the attention we want so it keeps us chasing them. When the nice boys give us the attention we love we brush it off because we got what we wanted. Doesn’t make sense right? I think you need to really think of what you deserve. And actually, at the end of your story YOU said you deserve to be treated right. I think you answered your own question by yourself. All in all, if a guy is willing to do a lot for you he deserves that chance as well. What do you have to lose out on? Nothing, so follow your heart!Xoxo-ADear Confused Chica,

Well it sounds like the second guy is giving you the attention you want but you have your mind set on the first guy. I would advise going for the guy who is better for you, the one that will be there for you when you need him and not make excuses, but I know how women are when it comes to those decision. So I say make a choice and don’t lead on the one you want to reject because that will make you a player! One guy seems very interested and one seems sketchy. Make a list of pros and cons and see who is bet-ter. Choose wisely. -M

Dear A&M I’ve always had problems with girls. I always seem to mess up a relationship with a girl, they either already have a boyfriend, or they only see me as a friend. As a child I was always made fun of and I would watch anime like Dragon Ball or Naruto so I can feel better and I became a nerd. I feel like that’s the reason why no girl likes me and I’m not very handsome. I don’t have any confidence in myself and I feel like no girl will like me. I have no redeemable factors all I can do is write fantasy stories and play duel mon-sters. What should I Do? - King Of Games

Dear King Of games,Don’t look down on yourself man. I’m sure you have a bunch of qualities that make the ladies crazy. I think your best bet is to find a girl who likes the same things as you. Trust me there are

plenty of girls that love anime and one day you will meet one. Girls are complicated though so remember don’t be TOO nice because then you get put in the friend zone. Although you want a girlfriend, remember its high school. You have plenty of time to come out of your shell in col-lege. Look at the guy who plays Neville Long-bottom in Harry Potter, he used to be a geeky kid; now the ladies love him.

-M

Dear King of Games,In my eyes having a girlfriend or boyfriend isn’t everything. And quite frankly it actually causes more problems! In high school I guess you can say it’s the “cool” thing to have a girlfriend but in reality it’s not. Being on your own has its pros. You don’t have to worry about some chick with a bunch of #princessprobz, always want-ing you to be like this, talk like that and so on. Being with your friends and family will result to more happiness than some girl who will cry and blast you on Twitter when you make her mad. Might I add in that girls LOVE nerds. One day you will find a girl that will appreciate and like who you are inside and out and will love you for who YOU are. The waiting and loneliness sucks, and we all go through it. Just trust me when I tell you that patience is key, and will definitely be worth it.Xoxo-A

One of the most exciting things college freshman look forward to is getting a roommate and meeting a new friend. Usually your room-mate is the first person you meet when you got to college, especially if it’s out of town. Having a roommate is supposed to be a happy thing, right? That’s not always the case. What if your life turns out to be just like the movie “The

Roommate”? You never really know how the person you are going to be living with is like. That’s the scary part. Maybe you’ll end up like everyone and have a nice roommate who you’ll get along with but you might also be one of those few lucky people who end up with the weird or psycho roommate. We would all like the advantage of being able to pick our own roommate and in some cases you do get to pick, but for the most part it’s not always like that. A lot of college fresh-man look forward to the whole roommate and

being the best of friends. That’s not always the best idea. Most people say that living with a best friend is a bad idea. You’ll be fighting all the time and for girls, the borrowing of clothes and not getting them back is a big deal. Having a roommate isn’t for everyone. Some people would prefer to live in a room on their own. They save themselves from the argu-ing, fighting, yelling and personal item being lost. The whole roommate idea is really something everyone always looks forward to.

The end of the year is finally here and most of all the seniors have finalized their deci-sion on where they will be spending the rest of school years. Many students applied to various colleges out of El Paso to gain new life changing experiences. Out of city colleges granted them permission to have this experience but it was the struggles and love of their home that denied them to leave. Students like Amanda Varela got accepted into various colleges like St. Mary's University, Sam Houston State University and Texas Christian University (TCU) but decided to stay here close to home. "I did not originally

plan to stay here for college but in the end I felt that staying here at UTEP for two years will be in my best interest for many different reasons but I do plan to transfer out to New York to fulfill my dance and forensics dreams." Other students going to UTEP are Clarissa Reyes, Samantha Carillo, Ruby Reyes, Rogelio Reyes, Illiana Curiel, BriAnn Beltran, Abraham Sotelo, Jayni Rodriguez, Christina Carrera, Michael Rolon and many other fellow Rams. Students like Jenny Calanche are leaving El Paso after the summer. "I will be attending Cochise College in the fall because they have a really good soccer program and they offered me a good scholarship. Another plus side to Cochise is that it is in Arizona. I am so excited

to spend a lot of time outdoors and soak up the Arizona sun." Along with Jenny there are many other students leaving. Javier Gonzalez to Georgetown, Beto Tejada to Trinity, Alexis Rodriguez to Concordia, Christian Benitez to UTSA, Kellie Apodaca, Luis Linan and Andrea Munoz to UT Austin, Christian Schwantner to Sul Ross, Renee Rojas to NMSU, Yvette Estrada to USC, Amber Duran, Ivan Encinas and Madi-son Senne to Texas State, Eric Liedtke to UTSA and Melissa Madrid to Arlington. It has been a pleasure spending four years with such fine students and we hope you all succeed in whatever goals you have set up for yourself. We wish you the best and good luck in your future endeavors! GO SENIORS!

Most people don’t know what they will be doing in 10 years or even 5 years. These seniors on the other hand have an idea where they see themselves or what they see themselves doing in 10 years. “I see myself beyond the silliness of ru-mors and fads. I see myself in society making an impact ad making those people that are impor-tant to me proud.” – Natalee Carrasco “I see myself dedicated to a good job and

a wonderful family.” – Seleena Minjarez “I see myself starting a family and a wonderful job” – Tiffany Parra “I will be making a difference in this world and enjoying life.” – Ana Maldonado “I see myself completing my goals and helping America by joining the Navy.” – Mar-rero Anderson “I see myself doing something I love and that truly makes me happy. If not, then just liv-ing life, possibly doing art or music.” – Natassja Ranson “In 10 years, I see myself married with a child, possibly. I see myself being successful

thanks to the people who paved the pathway!” – Amanda Fonseca “I see myself as an educator and running my own classroom.” – Rosa Contreras “I will be owning my dance academy, with my dance degree finished, and inspiring people to dance.” – Stephanie Rangel “I see myself living in Europe and work-ing on my latest novel” – Dalia Elbo “I see myself following my dreams and being all I want to be. One dream I have is be-ing a U.S Marshall. Also, I want to have all the things I ever wished for and watch out for my mom and sister.” – Valerie Maese

Choosing a college is a big decision and it’s easy to get caught up in certain aspects of school and lose sight of the big picture. Before calling the school and telling them that you have decided to attend, you may want to think about a couple of things. First asks yourself “Do you like the campus environment”? Visiting the school campus is a very important step when you are looking for a college to attend. You should look into the classes, student housing, etc. You should also take into consideration how much the college cost from the tuition, room, and books. Make sure if there is financial aid to apply for it because you never know how helpful it can really be. When getting into a college there is usually entrance exams for certain majors. Find out if you need to take an exam like this so you can be prepared. Also finding out the graduation requirements can be a big help so you don’t fall behind. There are many things to look for in college but just remember to go somewhere you know that you are going to be comfortable and have fun because that will make your college experience that much better.

There are so many meaning for the word graduate. For many its freedom, success, hap-piness, or being the first in the family. Here are some quotes from our own Montwood High School student about what it means to graduate. “To graduate means the next step in my life! Its bitter sweet, I am going to miss coming to school every day and going straight to choir. I regret nothing of my high school life. I am ready to go to Berkley College for music, and start my new life and represent our community

well. Work hard and stay Humble.” Says senior Eliezer Zamora “What does it mean to graduate to me? It means the beginning of my life! It is an eye opener to the realization that I am becoming a young adult.” Says senior Ashley Perez “It has been four great years and I have bitter sweet feelings about it. So many memories have been built up and torn down within the hallways of Mont-wood High School. It could have been meet-ing your best friend, falling in love, tripping in front of your crush, falling down the stairs or of course getting caught by the green ladies. “Some of the best memories I ever had were making all the friends that I did, excelling in the classes that were hard for me and play-ing sports with my best friends who are also

my team mates. Another great memory was to be able to truly fid myself.” Say senior Brenda Sanchez “My worst memories have to be getting my bag stuck on the door handle and flying back, yeah that’s pretty embarrassing, I am glad that over with. Another bad memory will have to be leaving my friends behind.” Says senior Brenda Sanchez “My best memory would have to be getting close to so many people. That has truly made my high school year the very best. I am going to miss my class of 2012 so much, I love

them all!” says senior Paulina Nieto “My best memory is meeting so many new people and having great experiences dur-ing my high school life with my class of 2012.
