■Entering the vehicleTo unlock the vehicle, simply grasp the door han-dle.

■Exiting the vehicleTo lock the vehicle, press the button on the doorhandle.

■Opening the trunkTo open the trunk, press the button.

Theft Deterrent System

■ Immobilizer systemThe immobilizer system prevents the engine frombeing started in the event that an attempt is madeto start the vehicle using an unregistered key. The security indicator light flashes to indicate thatthe system is set.

■ Alarm

The system sounds the alarm and flashes light when an attempt to steal the vehicle isdetected.To set the alarm: close the doors, trunk and hood, and lock all doors. The indicator lightcomes on to indicate that the alarm is in its preparation state. When the indicator lightbegins to flash, the system is armed.To deactivate or stop the alarm: turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch to the ACCES-SORY or IGNITION ON mode, or unlock the doors or trunk.

■ Steering lockThe steering lock is engaged when the driver’sdoor is opened with the “ENGINE START STOP”switch OFF.

The theft deterrent system includes the following features to help protect your vehicle fromtheft.

Driving Position Memory System

■Setting memory positionsWhile holding the “SET” button, press and holdone of the memory buttons (“1”, “2”, or “3”) untilyou hear a beep.

The current position of the driver’s or front pas-senger’s seat, and the outside rear view mirrorand steering wheel (driver’s side switch only) arestored.

■Recalling memory positionsPress one of the memory buttons (“1”, “2”, or “3”).

■Linking driving position memory with door unlock operation (driver’s side only)While holding the desired memory button, press

and hold button on the wireless remote con-trol until you hear a beep.

To prevent triggering of the alarm, open one of thedoors within 60 seconds after the beep is heard.

: If equipped

The seats can be returned to a previously set position by simply pressing a button.The position of the steering wheel and the outside rear view mirrors is adjusted along with thedriver’s seat.Positions can be conveniently stored for the vehicle’s primary drivers and passengers.

Linking driving position memory to the door unlock operation allows the memory position to berecalled automatically when the driver’s door is opened. (The linked function does not operate ifthe driver’s door is unlocked using the mechanical key or manually from inside the vehicle.)

Outside Rear View Mirrors■ Adjusting the mirrors

To select the mirror you wish to adjust (L or R),use the select switch.To adjust mirror angle, use the control switch.

The mirrors will automatically angle downwardswhen the vehicle is reversing.To disable this function, set the select switch in theneutral position (neither L nor R selected).

■ Starting the engineMake sure the parking brake is engaged and theshift lever is in “P”.

Depress the brake pedal.The “ENGINE START STOP” switch indi-cator light turns green.

Press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch.

■ Stopping the engine Engage the parking brake and shift the shift lever to “P”. Press the “ENGINE START STOP” switch.

Electronic Key Alarm

The electronic key alarm uses an alarm and warning messages to indicate that the electronic key has been used improperly. Take appropriate measure in response to any warning mes-sages that are displayed. In some cases, an alarm may sound without an accompanying warning message. If so, follow the correction procedure in the table below.

Alarm Situation Correction procedure

Exterior alarm sounds once for 2 seconds

Tried to lock the doors using the entry function while the electronic key is still inside the passenger compartment

Retrieve the electronic key from the passenger com-partment and lock the doors again.

Closed the trunk while the electronic key is still inside and all doors are locked

Retrieve the electronic key from the trunk and close the trunk lid.

Exterior alarm sounds once for 60 seconds

Tried to exit the vehicle with the electronic key and lock the doors without first turning the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF

Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF and lock the doors again.

Exterior alarm sounds once for 10 seconds

Tried to lock the vehicle using the entry function while a door is open

Close all of the doors and lock the doors again.

Interior alarm sounds continuously

Tried to open the door and exit the vehicle without shifting the shift lever to “P”

Shift the shift lever to “P”.

Interior alarm rings continuously

Switched to ACCES-SORY mode while the driver’s door is open (Opened the driver’s door when the “ENGINE START STOP” switch is in ACCESSORY mode.)

Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF and close the driver’s door.

Turned the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF while the driver’s door is open

Close the driver’s door.
