The party then m oved on to the B ritish Leg ion H a ll in E n fie ld w here the M in is te r jo ined the A sso c ia tio n fo r a bu ffe t lunch, and spen t about an hour ta lk ing to the m em bers and the ir w ives. T he M in is te r w as then inv ited to v iew the A lbuhe ra Room and w h ils t there he w as p resen ted w ith a M idd lesex R eg im enta l P laque and requested to s ign the v is ito rs book. A t th is junctu re , p rio r to leaving, the M in is te r m ade a sho rt spe e ch d isp lay ing cons id e ra b le know ledge o f the R eg im en t's past and he p ra ised the O ld C o m ra d e s p resen t fo r the part they had played in the m ore recen t h is tory o f the R egim ent.

A fte r a p ro longed d iscu ss io n the co n s id e re d op in ion w as th a t from a R eg im enta l po in t o f view , the S e rv ice shou ld be d iscon tinued . W e are all ge tting o lde r and the a ttendance is fa lling off. T he S ecre ta ry w as ins tru c te d to app roach the R everend P a trick T u f t V ica r o f S t N icho las and H ono ra ry C hap la in to the R egim enta l A sso c ia tio n to ob ta in his view.

H o w eve r Padre T u ft sa id tha t he w o u ld ensure tha t the se rv ice and sa c rifice m ade by the m em bers o f the th ree batta lions, (1/1 Oth, 2 /1 0 th and 3 /1 0th) is not fo rg o tte n and that the A c t o f R em em brance w ou ld take p lace as part o f the m orn ing service. H e hoped tha t som e m em bers o f the A sso c ia tio n m ig h t w ish to attend. A s ever they w o u ld be m ade very w e lcom e.

T he d e c is io n to end the se rv ice w as relayed to C ap ta in D avid H a w k in s and he, a fte r seek ing the v iew s o f the rem a in ing m em bers o f the 2/1 Oth O C A , dec ided to c lose d ow n the 2/1 Oth A s s o c ia tio n and rem it the ba lance o f the ir fu n d s to the R eg im enta l A sso c ia tio n . They have ach ieved a very h igh s tandard o f p resenta tion . H e thanked M ess rs Jack W a rne r, A lf B u rfo rd , V ic B each, B e rt T runde ll, P e te r B a rtle tt and M rs B each fo r all the hard w o rk they had pu t in to the p ro je c t r ig h t from w hen it w as f irs t m uted in 1 994 .
