PURE’S MAKING SPIRITS BRIGHT 2016We could not be more excited for this years Christmas show at the Capitol Theatre. Our dancers have started their routines and they are already looking fabulous. Listed below are a couple quick reminders about Christmas show this year:

- Contrary to what was previously stated, we will be running our dress rehearsal for Christ-mas show at the Capitol Theatre rather than at

curtains will be closed in order to avoid distraction.

Our basement studio will be receiving a better camera in the near future in order to allow for viewing on the TV’s upstairs. Please just remember, if the instructor has not invited you into the classroom, there may be a reason for it.

COMPANY TEAM UPDATEStarting in November, all Company Team dancers will begin their Cecchetti Ballet classes on Thursday and Friday nights. Dancers will be training in 5 different levels and will be placed accordingly after a couple weeks of testing them out in different classes. Please keep in mind that this type of ballet syllabus is not equivalent to the BATD syl-labus that dancers train in during the week. Dancers may be placed in a grade level lower or higher than their BATD grade and they may train in a different grade than a dancer that may be in their BATD class. We ask that you trust the experience and knowledge of our coaching staff when these decisions are made. Please remember that all placements are made to the benefit of the individual student. It is only and always our intention to strengthen our PURE dancers.

A list of class placements will be posted the first Thursday in November. Please send your child to dance with a bodysuit, pink tights, hair in a bun and a change of clothes for their regular dancer rehearsals.

CREW TEAM UPDATEMiss Melissa has been working on trying to confirm dates for produc-tion rehearsals at the Health Plex. So far, she has been able to secure April 2nd, 2017 from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Please jot this date down and stay tuned for any more production rehearsal dates that may pop up.

BALLET DRESS CODE REMINDERSPlease be advised that all PURE ballet classes uphold a strict ballet dress code of bodysuit (color depends on specific grade) and tights as well as ballet shoes and hair in a bun. Students who do not adhere to dress code will be given reminders to take home. After several reminders, the student will not be allowed to participate in class. Our ballet dress code is based on years of tradition within ballet technique and encourages discipline while also allowing the teacher to assess each student prop-

erly while they work on their technical skill. PURE places importance on this aspect of Ballet for the betterment of our students and asks that all students respect this strict Ballet dress code.

UPDATE ON FORT MCMURRAY FUNDRAISER

As we can all remember, Fort McMurray, Alberta had a devastating fire this past May. As part of PURE’s community outreach initiative, dona-tions were collected at our year end recitals to send to a dance studio in Fort Mac. Our students also made cards to send to their dancers with words of encouragement and well wishes. A total of $300 was raised and sent along with the cards to MacDonald Island Dance Academy.

This studio unfortunately lost one of their dancers, Emily, in a motor ve-hicle accident during the evacuation. MacDonald Island Dance Academy thought about putting the funds towards replacing costumes that were lost but ultimately made the decision to use the money to start a memorial

scholarship in Emily’s name. They were finally able to have their year end recital in September and Emily’s family were in attendance to present the award. According to Miss Kelli from the studio, there was not a dry eye in the house. Miss Kelli has forwarded a few pictures of the students (shown here) receiving the cards and sends her thanks on behalf of the entire

studio for r e a c h i n g out to them during a dif-ficult time.

T h a n k s again to our entire PURE family! We are so lucky to have you all.

THE CHRISTMAS PARADE IS FAST APPROACHING!We are excited to be taking part in the Chatham Christmas Parade once again this year. This year the parade will take place on Friday night at 6pm on November 18th.

We are looking for volunteers for this venture so if you are interested in being a part of this fun community event, please email Tammy Chouinard at [email protected] so she can add you to the Parade Committee list and keep you posted on meeting times as well as on any updates.

Please pick up after yourself, there are garbage cans in both waiting areas and in both washrooms for your convenience.
