Purposes of PaCT

1. To support teachers to make reliable and consistent judgments in relation to the National Standards

2. To show a student’s progress over time

Aspects for Writing

1. Writing meaningful text: encoding 2. Writing meaningful text: using knowledge of text features 3. Writing meaningful text: vocabulary knowledge4. Using writing to clarify and develop ideas and information for

learning5. Creating texts to communicate knowledge and understanding 6. Creating texts for literary purposes7. Creating texts to influence others

Aspects for Reading

1. Making sense of text: using a processing system2. Making sense of text: using knowledge of text structure3. Making sense of text: vocabulary knowledge4. Making sense of text: reading critically5. Reading to organise ideas and information for learning6. Acquiring and using information and ideas in informational texts7. Reading for literary experience
