The Trailer for The Princess Diaries
EditsHaving the words in white along with the white dress and white floor signifies a sense of purity which can be related to the purity of the “Royal Family”
The blurring of the word, increasing its size and having it in white emphasises the purity that has been hinted at.
The word “Romance” is used and again is edited with a sparkly effect, which again may highlight the purity theme of a royal person...in this case, a Princess.
This effect here has a blurred screen of the same shot. Maybe resembles the confusion within the girls life
Camera Sharp cut from a medium close up to a close up for each word – emphasises the syllables and shock and facial expressions of character
“”ShutUp!
Extreme close up shows the detail of their eyebrows
It shows she has not taken care of her appearance where as a modern woman in society would and especially a princess.
Compares her to a man’s eyebrows and how similar they are highlights how she has no femininity about her
Bird’s eye view – when she is getting changed to highlight a squashed and compact atmosphere in the car and let the audience feel the uncomfortable situation she is in
Car at beginning of film has flags and a sense of royalty...foreshadows storyline?
Mise En Scene
Posture of the woman signifies she has an imortant status
Scenery of a garden that is kept in good condition along with butlers - wealthy
Ball gowns and glamour in a massive room highlight the wealth
Tiara signifies royalty
