The President’s Report
Greetings and salutations;
Basic Pattern School & Event upcoming, see the article about the event.

th (9:30 am), we will be having a Pattern School and
Basic Event. Lunch will be provided (Hamburgers and hot dogs) and the grill will be
open for any other items that you bring.
Drop Everything and Get Ready. On Saturday June 15 we will have our club pattern school and mini contest.
We will have a show and tell on how to do seven maneuvers correctly with diagrams and computer visuals. We
will have lots of time for questions and then follow up with some practice for participants and coaching from
seasoned pattern contestants. You will receive a lot of information and help to get the most out of your airplane.
There will be no cost to participants even for the contest as there will be no awards given, only your personal
pride in accomplishment. Be thinking about the airplane you choose to fly, there will be no restrictions from us
but some planes are obviously better. Choose wisely by showing up and having a great time!
See Vic Koenig for any details or information needed.
These are the maneuvers that will be used. See last month’s newsletter for a visual guide of these maneuvers.
Maneuvers U = upwind/D= downwind Difficulty (K Factor)
Take off U 1
Stall turn D 2
Half reverse Cuban 8 U 3

Event Coverage: Joe Nall Week;
Triple Tree Aerodrome hosted another wonderful Joe Nall event. If you didn’t get a chance to visit, start
planning for next year. Almost anything dealing with model aviation is covered; Warbirds (WW I to the jet
age), float planes, acrobatic and helicopters abound. Lots of venders were present to allow you to stock your
shelves with goodies (if your car is big enough). Helicopters have their own flight line and astound everyone
with their flights of fancy.
Photos showing the main flight line parking. I had to take two photos to show the scale of pilot participation.

Event Coverage: Joe Nall Week (continued);
On the ground or in the sky, an outstanding scale biplane.
Very detailed WWII Japanese Zero.
From WWI to WWII and beyond, all types of aircraft were present.
Huge float plane next to a pilot. Biplane with support equipment.

Event Coverage: Joe Nall Week (continued);
Sopwith biplane details, it’s in the small touches that really bring things in perspective.
Videos of the event are available on YouTube (just search “Joe Nall”) and check out all of the fun. Some of the
aircraft that were present just take your breath away. Unfortunately, my photos don’t do justice to the pilots and
planes in flight. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
At the Field;
Summer is here, now is the time to be more careful, make sure that you are calling your takeoffs and landings.
Keep your head on a swivel when you are flying, the plane that you save might be your own!
Another new pilot on our field (note, he didn’t call for that takeoff!).
We have had a lot more wildlife around our field this year. Please be careful, a bird strike from a turkey or a

Photo of the happy students from the School Demo.
We received a large packet of thank you letters from these students. Our club has definitely made an
impression on their aviation viewpoint.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Our Friends, the Field, and Flying;
A brief word about new members: We have several new club members and will be getting many more as the
summer progresses. Now is the time to step up and greet a new friend and welcome them to our club. These
new members are learning all of the details that make model aviation challenging. Help them out with tips and
advice, basically be the friendly bunch of crazy flying people that I love to hang out with!
The more club members that we have the larger knowledge base we have to draw on. You might understand
everything about a 2 cycle alcohol burning engine, but the “new guy” might understand the torque required to
push your elevator around, thus solving your “mushy elevator” problem. New members also will be bringing
new aircraft to the field, now we can all enjoy that newest plane without having to spend any money! So get out
there and spread the word that, “JCRC IS A GREAT PLACE TO BE!”
The last word about new members, the more members that we have, the lower the membership fees can be.
If we have enough members at the end of this year, I expect to be able to drop the membership fees for next
year.
Hangar 9 Spitfire.
I have been to the field several times and didn't join last year because it was so late in the season. I am moving
this year and need to sell this plane because I am into 3D flying and electrics now. It has all Futaba digital
servos and 60 size FX series motor. I'm only asking $300 because I need to get rid of it. Servos and motor are
worth that. –Bryan Humphreys. E-mail at [email protected] for more information.
See ad from Tower Hobbies for details.
I have a little Cox electric motorized glider for sale (27” wingspan), totally ready to fly including transmitter
with batteries and charger.
This would probably be great to convert to a night flier! Someone needs to grab it before it gets away.

Humor;
Yeah, it’s a new design, but it still has a few bugs. Does this prop make my Cessna look small?
My pa was a tank, my grandpa, was a tank, my great Budget cuts have not been kind to the
grandpa was a tank…. But my ma, well she was a F-35 program!
bird of a different feather.
Note, the tank photo above is real, during WWII, Russia developed bolt on wings to literally fly their tanks to the front
lines. Unfortunately, because of weight (guys, it’s a tank!) they were extremely slow and took three tow planes. The tank
/ aircraft was dropped (forgive the pun) in favor of easier transport via rail (using the rail road lines that the German
made to invade Russia).
