Getting the Most ofYour Aimpoint@ Sight

Aimpoint sights are easy to zeroCAUTION: Place the firearm in a safe condition prior to handlingor makingany sight adjustments.Aimpoint's red dot sights are optically centered. That meansthat if the mount base is properly aligned with yourfirearm'saction, only minor adjustments should be necessary. lt is easi-est if you start the zeroing process from a short distance. Werecommend z5 meters or less. This allows you to immediatelysee if further adjustments need to be made, which in turn cansave you time and ammunition.

Once you have set up a target, get the firearm in a solidrest, aim at the center of the target, take your first shot andinspect the point of impact, (f ig t&z). Check how well thesight is zeroed and then make any necessary adjustments(fig f).Aimpoint's adjustment screws are located on the topand sides of the sight, which allows for impact points to bemoved up/down or right/left. After zeroing the sight at 25meters, you are ready to zero at greater distances.

4. Replace firearm on solid rest with doton target (A).

5. Without moving the fireorm, turnodiustment screws until red dotis cen-tered over bullet's point of impact (B).

6. Repeat as necessory until point of aimand pointof impact are the some.

Aim straight, shoot betterItts simple. Keep both eyes open.For a moment, lower your firearm and focus both eyes onthe target. Next, without taking your eyes off the target,bring your firearm into position so that you are now lookingat the target through the Aimpoint sight (f ig +).The red dotwil l now be on the target (f ig S). lt 's that easy!When the dotis on target, so are you. Since allAimpoint sights are parallaxfree, you never have to worry about centering the red dotinside the sight.

Learn to aim with both eyes open with-out toking your eyes of the target.

With your firearm shouldered, withboth eyes open and focused on thetarget, the dotwill naturally appearwhere you want your shot to hit.

Practice aimingwith both eyes openond the front lens of the sight cov-ered. After some training, you will beable to aim your firearm more easilyand faster than ever before.

Mounting the sightWith the variety of models available, there is an Aimpointsight for virtually every type of firearm. For a sight and a gunto function as a reliable unit year after year, it is importantthat the mounting is done professionally and the mountingrings and bases are of high quality.

The Aimpoint red dot sight does not have a critical eyerelief. This provides great freedom in locating the sight alongthe length of the rif le, and makes it very easy to fit theminto a modular system that allows the mounting of severaldifferent types of sights on the same rifle.

We recommend this simple training exercise.Cover the front of your Aimpoint sight with the lens cover(fig 0). Then bring your firearm into position while keepingboth eyes focused on the target. The red dot will now beon the target (fig S).

Practicing this simple procedure will get you comfortablewith keeping both eyes open while aiming at the target.That's because with a traditional sight, your field of view islimited. You lose valuable time focusing through the sightrather than focusing on the target. You also lose eye con-tact with the target and you don't get a general view of thesituation and surroundings.

After performing these exercises you are ready to getthe most out of your Aimpoint sight. You will see how mucheasier and faster it is to aim your firearm with an Aimpointsight and you wil l improve your shooting.
