The President’s address A new school year has just begun and The Caisse Desjardins des Hauts-Boisés wishes to greet the efforts and the dedication of all the teaching personnel as well as all the people who intervene in the student environment. The Caisse Desjardins des Hauts-Boisés would like to show its involvement for youth by offering support and adapted services that are specially developed for them. The young adults represent an essential part in our community and the cooperative Des- jardins. They are in school today building not only their future, but ours also. This is why we are proud to join forces to their success and to make their dreams come true. Have a great school year! Jean-Claude Cassidy, President The youth team W e are glad to introduce the members of the new youth team, a team which will be dedicated to the18-35 year olds. Lucie Lafrenière, Josée Lussier, Christine Roy and Jocelyne Hallée aim to listen to the young adults needs. Together, they wish to accompany them in their new status so they can conjugate their dreams with reality! Whether it is for a student loan, the purchase of a new car or a first house, the youth team tailors them by offering the necessary tools and services to accomplish their projects. The youth team possesses specialized resources to meet the needs of the young adults in the cooperative. The representatives would like to invite you to contact one of them for any information at 819-875-3325 in Cookshire or at 819-888-2936 in La Patrie. Young Intern Officer Program T he Young Intern Officer program is for people between the ages of 18 and 30. It gives the opportunity to complete a practical one-year internship on a caisse Board of Directors or Board of Supervision. This year, it is Jonathan Corriveau, student in History at Sherbrooke University, who is awarded the title of Young Intern Officer. Later on, Jonathan intends to pursue his stud- ies in Education to become a High School teacher. He wanted to join the program to acquire some experience, to understand more the decision-making process of the organization and to be aware of what the Caisse could do for his community. During the internship, Jonathan will sit at the Board of Directors and will be able to par- ticipate in discussions leading to Caisse decisions, Caisse orienta- tions, and the supervision of Caisse activities on behalf of the general membership. By joining the elected leaders, he will have the chance to build a network of professional in the largest coop- erative financial group in Canada. The registration forms are available at the head office, at one of our service centers or online at www.desjardins.com/caisse-hauts-boises. Besides, as a cooperative that wishes to get involved in its community, a school caisse has been set up in the elementary schools of Cookshire, Johnville and Sawyerville. The Caisse aims to introduce the kids to savings and to teach them, in spite of their young age that savings can allow them to fulfill certain proj- ects, no matter how small they are. Sponsorships and donations S ince January 2008, there was about 17 000 $ that was given to different organizations which are working for youth. The Club plein air de biathlon de l’Estrie received 3 000 $ and Loisirs Cookshire got 1 000 $ in sponsorship for all their activities. In association with the Caisses du Haut St-François, your Caisse is involved in various programs such as: Place aux Jeunes and Desjardins Jeunes au travail, where more than 5 000 $ are in- vested. The Caisse Desjardins des Hauts-Boisés also donated 600 $ to Opération Enfant Soleil, an organization who fights to obtain proper care for children that are ill. Moreover, 600 $ were granted to the Cookshire Elemantary School and 500 $ to the Club Lion. Several other groups shared the rest of the money given in sponsorships. This contest is for cooperative members who are between 18 to 30 years of age and gives the oppor- tunity to go to Mexico for a stay where there will be various activities to help you under- stand the financial service needs in the community and the impact that increased access has on Mexican culture. To enter the contest, the partici- pants will go through an online rally to measure their knowledge on the concepts of cooperation, international development and microfinance. It begins on August 13 th and end on November 7 th , 2008. Good luck!
