What a week. This week we had a bumper experience in our ‘Work of the Week’ assembly;I was going to apologise for how long we ran over, except that it is always so inspiring tohear and see the variety of your children’s talents and achievements - truly WOW! Talkingof talents, I am delighted to be able to announce the winner of #TGT2017. I really admirethose who go through the gruelling auditions and rehearsals and the pupils this year havevoted for ‘The Siblings’ - Chloe and Jensen Healey. You will have a chance to see these actsagain at our Summer Concert on 29th June. I am looking forward to seeing many of you onMonday at ‘ Meet the Teacher’- it really is nonstop at the moment, but I can’t end withoutcomplimenting Prep 5 on their incredible organisation and leadership at Tuesday’s FairytaleForest School for our new Lodge pupils - Thank you!.

The Swim BBQ was a big success even though the weather couldhave been better! Thanks to everyone that came along, espe-cially the Science Buskers that entertained us with their slimeexperiments and dry ice cocktails. We raised £300 and appreci-ate your support, as events such as this helped to fund the newplayground equipment which all the Prep children are enjoyingin the much welcomed sunshine!

Very well done to all of our pupils and staff who competed inthe 5km ‘Colour Run’ on Sunday in Teignmouth. There was alarge crowd cheering and welcoming our heroes over theline. Thank you for supporting Rowcroft during this fun occa-sion.

Bishop Sarah visits Trinity SchoolLast Friday saw Trinity welcoming a very special guest, Dame Sarah Mullally who is the currentBishop of Crediton. A programme of events was organised for her visit so that she could experiencesomething of the Christian life and ethos of the whole school. The day started with Bishop Sarahtalking about faith and what it means to be a bishop in the school chapel including her explainingwhat a mitre and bishop's staff are! She then spent some time in nursery interacting with thechildren and staff as they sang and dressed up acting out a bible story.Accompanied by one of our Bishop's Governors, June Cohen and Revd Jonathon, Bishop Sarah alsospent some time answering questions posed by senior students. She was hugely impressed withthose pupils tweeting to the whole Diocese of Exeter "Great and challenging questions at TrinitySchool." We then headed up to the Prep Department for some role play with Prep 1 and 2 whichwas great fun. There was also a working lunch where staff had the opportunity to ask Bishop Sarahquestions about Christian ethos or more general questions about faith and spirituality.It was a fantastic day and Bishop Sarah was particularly impressed with the warm family atmos-phere of the school and our pupils as was June Cohen who said of them "Be proud - they were allamazing!" We are very grateful to Bishop Sarah for, again in the words of June Cohen, "giving somuch of her time, wisdom and herself, in such an accessible and relaxed way." It was a veryencouraging and affirming visit for all who came into contact with her and I would like to thank allthe pupils and staff who helped and contributed to the success of her visit.Revd Jonathon

Fun in Prep OneChildren in Prep 1 have been looking at grains of pollen under amicroscope then sketching and modelling them. We thought theylooked a bit like aliens and so the children made up ‘alien word’names for their pollen grain sculpture.In Textiles Club – Key Stage 2 children have worked really hard ondesigning a pencil case with a Native American design. Here are a2 of the finished pieces which included fabric pen, beadwork andembroidery.

Prep Six BowlingPrep Six enjoyed a fantastic evening of bowling in Torquay alongsideYear Seven. This annual event has proved to be a real success as pupilsplayed together as team mates and enjoyed a meal at the end. Manythanks to Mr Farish and all staff who helped make this a brilliant time.Very well done to Jason Chung who made the leader board for the daywith a total score of 126.

Fairy Tale PicnicAs the sun shone down on the Forest School area on Tuesday, PrepFive hosted the ‘Fairy Tale’ picnic for the Prep Lodge children and theirfamilies. It was lovely to see everyone engaging in activities such asface-painting, story telling, chasing the Black Knight and Dragonaround an obstacle course, cake decorating and stopping for refresh-ments. The Prep Five pupils were amazing and really got into the spiritof the occasion by dressing up and enacting the tales of Red RidingHood and Zog. Well done.

Slugs and Snails!Reception have chosen a new topic about Homes. Snails seemedlike an excellent starting point and so Mrs May introduced 30 ofthem into the classroom on Monday. The children discussed whatthey already knew about them and then researched new facts.There was lots of careful observation with the magnifying glassesand excitement as the snails explored their new surroundings andhuman friends. A few children weren’t very keen at all but mostadored watching them move and eat some fruit and lettuce snacksand allowed them to venture onto hands and up arms. Everyonethen very carefully set them free amongst the dark damp rockerystones outside the classroom.

What more wonderful way to spend club time than to sail withsuch glorious sunshine. Well done Prep Four.

Bovey Craft FairPrep 3 and 4 visited Bovey Tracy Contemporary Craft Fair on Friday.The visit was kicked off brilliantly by a quick visit to the storyteller,followed by a couple of happy hours spent in the children's activitytent. The children were able to have a go at a variety of activities;including weaving, dry-point etching, clay, Lego construction andsome enthralling activities run by the Met Office. They were soabsorbed in these activities that we had to commission the help ofa local pirate to get them out of the tent!
