 ISSUE 1 SEPTEMBER 2011 VOLUME 2 The Praise  Report “REACHING THE LOST; TEACHING THE SAVED.” Prayer is not a normal part of the life of the natural man. We hear it said that a  person’s life will suffer if he doesn’t pray, but I question that. What will suffer is the life of the Son of God in him, which is nourished not by food, but by prayer. When a person is born again from above, the life of the Son of God is born in him, and he can either starve or nourish that life. Prayer is the way that the life of God in us is nourished. Our common ideas regarding prayer are not found in the New Testament. We look upon prayer simply as a means of getting things for ourselves, but the biblical purpose of prayer is that we may get to know God Himself. Ask, and you will receive . . .(John 16:24). We complain before God, and sometimes we are apologetic or indifferent to Him, but we actually ask Him for very few things. Yet a child exhibits a Membership Sunday On August 28 th , three new families became members of Praise Temple. We are so happy to welcome Charles & Gina Tash (Kaylan & Haley), Charles & Tiffany Jordan, and Robert & Laura Newsome (Marissa). They are already getting busy in the kingdom work- the Jordans are lending a hand with Youth Group & Kids Church, Sister Gina & Sister Laura are volunteering in the Nursery, Brother Tash is helping with remodels and playing the bass guitar in worship services, Brother Robbie is teaching adult Sunday School, and all of the children are attending Praise Temple Christian Academy or Praise Kids Learning Center. We are truly blessed to have them at Praise Temple. magnificent boldness to ask! Our Lord said, . . . unless you. . . become as little children . . .(Matthew 18:3). Ask and God will do. Give Jesus Christ the opportunity and the room to work. The problem is that no one will ever do this until he is at his wits’ end. When a person is at  his wits’ end, it no longer seems to be a cowardly thing to pray; in fact, it is the only way he can get in touch with the truth and the reality of God Himself. Be yourself before God and present Him with your problems   the very things that have brought you to your wits’ end. But as long as you think you are self-sufficient, you do not need to ask God for anything. To say that prayer changes thingsis not as close to the truth as saying, Prayer changes me and then I change things.God has established things so that prayer, on the basis of redemption, changes the way a person looks at things. Special Thanks  Thank you to Diane Ledford, Gina Tash, Gloria Fairchild, Beverly Benjamin,

Laura Newsome, and Rhonda Cook for volunteering to work in the Nursery

during Sunday Worship Services.

  We also appreciate Dena Johnson, Beverly Benjamin, Gloria Fairchild, Elsa Alba, and Gina &

Charlie Tash helping clean the school restrooms daily. Brother Tash has also helped repair and

remodel different areas around the church and school campus.

  Charles & Tiffany Jordan were an awesome asset at the Kingdom RAZErs lock-in  – chaperoning

students, organizing and setting up games, and taking pictures. Thanks!  

Sunday SchoolRobbie Newsome will be teaching the Adult Sunday School class starting on September 4th at 09:45 AM.

Brother Newsome is an outstanding teacher – come out to Sunday School and be blessed.

Kids of PraiseTreasure Island On September 4th, the children will arrive at ―Treasure Island‖ to spend all the coins they hav

earned in their treasure boxes. There will be lots of goodies for sale – they will not want to miss it!

New Quarter at a New Time On September 11th, the Kids of Praise will start learning about ―Hiding God

Law In Our Hearts‖ (The Ten Commandments). There will be even more fun & games, songs, object lesson

stories, and skits. We will be starting class at 09:45 AM.

Giving is Sweet The children are working hard to fill the ―Hershey‖ bank to earn their Six Foot Banana Split

Keep up the great giving.

Youth NewsRock the Universe On Friday, September 9th, the Youth will be going to

Christian concert (featuring Switchfoot, David Crowder Band, Anbelin, Gri

Family Force Five, Rhema Soul, and Hyland) at Universal Studios. The cost f

tickets is $55.00 (due Sunday, September 4th). If you have participated

fundraisers see Sister Megan or Brother Jonathan for the balance due.

Fundraisers Last month the youth raised a total of $292.00 from the Back

School Bash and Bake Sale to help purchase Rock the Universe tickets. Our ne

fundraiser is making and selling Sub Sandwiches.

Revelation ClassWhere there's a pier, there's a river. That's

even true at Praise Temple Church of God,

where Dr. Pier will be with us Wednesdays

this Fall, inviting Christians to go ever

deeper into the river of God and discover

what marvelous treasures lie in the depths of 

the Word. This time around we will be taking

a long look at the Revelation of Jesus Christ,

the prophetic book which is literally a

blessing to read and study (Rev. 1:3). There

is no need to fear this powerful tome, since

we know that our Father wants us blessedand has sent a master tour guide our way. Dr.

Pier has taught and preached prophecy for

over 50 years and has something spectacular

in store for you.

Minister’s Conference Pastor Langley will be the keynote speaker at the Annual Minister’s Conference in Missouri from September 29

to October 3rd. We know that as he and Sister Judy pour into the lives of others, they will receive a blessing

Empowered Men / Women of PraiseWe are kicking off the Women / Men’s ministry meetings on Thursday, September 1 st at 07:00 PM. The men wi

be meeting in the Adult Sunday School room and the Ladies will be meeting in the Praise Bible College Chapel.

The Kingdom RAZErs youth will be providing child care during the meetings. A meal, provided by Sister Els

Alba will follow.
