    The Power of Psalms

    Most of the Psalms are prayers composed by King David, who is buried on Mt. Zion just above

    the Wailing Wall. ome of them are songs of than!sgiving and others are prayers. Psalms aresaid to be so powerful that they can open up many channels to blessings that can come yourway. Different Psalms have different strengths and are appropriate for different prayers. "our

    prayer messenger will be reciting some of the Psalms that are most powerful in your life

    situation. Many people find it comforting to recite a Psalm when going through difficult times orsee!ing an answer to prayer. #elow are just a few that you may find helpful to recite in

    conjunction with your $% day prayer journey.

    ever. 0is glory is great through "our salvation honor and majesty "ou lay upon him. &or "*u

    trusts in the )*+D, yea, in the mercy of the Most 0igh he shall not be moved. "our hand shallbe e6ual to all "our enemies "our right hand shall overta!e those that hate "ou. "ou shall ma!e

    them as a fiery furnace in the time of "our anger the )*+D shall swallow them up in 0is wrath,

    and the fire shall devour them. (heir fruit shall "ou destroy from the earth, and their seed fromamong the children of men. &or they intended evil against "ou, they imagined a device,

    wherewith they shall not prevail. &or "ou shall ma!e them turn their bac!, "ou shall ma!e ready

    ' Psalm of David. Mas!il. 0appy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is pardoned.

    0appy is the man unto whom the )*+D does not ascribe to him ini6uity, and in whose spirit

    there is no deceit. When 2 !ept silence, my bones wore away through my groaning all the day

    long. &or day and night (hy hand was heavy upon me my sap was turned as in the droughts ofsummer. elah. 2 ac!nowledged my sin unto (hee, and mine ini6uity have 2 not hid 2 said7 52 will

    ma!e confession concerning my transgressions unto the )*+D and (hou, (hou forgave theini6uity of my sin. elah. &or this let everyone that is -odly pray unto (hee in a time when (hou

    may be found surely, when the great waters overflow, they will not reach unto him. (hou art my

    hiding/place (hou wilt preserve me from the adversary with songs of deliverance (hou wiltcompass me about. elah. 2 will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shall go 2

    will give counsel, Mine eye being upon thee. #e ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have

    no understanding whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, that they come not near unto

    befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. &or 0e will give 0is angels charge

    concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. (hey will bear you up in their hands, that you donot stri!e your foot against a stone. "ou will tread upon the lion and cobra, the young lion and

    the serpent you will trample down. ;#ecause he has loved Me, therefore 2 will deliver him 2 will

    trouble "ou surround me with songs of deliverance. elah.

    2 will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go 2 will counsel you with My eye

    upon you. Do not be as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding, whose trappingsinclude bit and bridle to hold them in chec!, otherwise they will not come near to you. Many are

    ' Psalm of 'saph. urely -od is good to 2srael, to those who are pure in heart4 #ut as for me,

    my feet came close to stumbling, my steps had almost slipped. &or 2 was envious of the arrogant

    as 2 saw the prosperity of the wic!ed. &or there are no pains in their death, and their body is fat.(hey are not in trouble as other men, nor are they plagued li!e man!ind. (herefore pride is their

    nec!lace the garment of violence covers them. (heir eye bulges from fatness the imaginations

    of their heart run riot. (hey moc! and wic!edly spea! of oppression they spea! from on high.

    (hey have set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue parades through the earth.

    (herefore his people return to this place, and waters of abundance are drun! by them. (hey say,

    pure and washed my hands in innocence for 2 have been stric!en all day long and chastened

    into the sanctuary of -od then 2 perceived their end. urely "ou set them in slippery places

    despise their form.

    When my heart was embittered and 2 was pierced within, then 2 was senseless and ignorant 2

    was li!e a beast before "ou. 1evertheless 2 am continually with "ou "ou have ta!en hold of my

    right hand. With "our counsel "ou will guide me, and afterward receive me to glory. Whomhave 2 in heaven but "ou: 'nd besides "ou, 2 desire nothing on earth. My flesh and my heart

    Deal bountifully with "our servant, that 2 may live and !eep "our word. *pen my eyes, that 2may behold wonderful things from "our law. 2 am a stranger in the earth do not hide "our

    commandments from me. My soul is crushed with longing after "our ordinances at all times.

    against me, "our servant meditates on "our statutes. "our testimonies also are my delight they

    My soul cleaves to the dust revive me according to "our word. 2 have told of my ways, and"ou have answered me teach me "our statutes. Ma!e me understand the way of "our precepts,

    8"our hands made me and fashioned me -ive me understanding, that 2 may learn "ourcommandments. May those who fear "ou see me and be glad, because 2 wait for "our word. 2!now, * )ord, that "our judgments are righteous, and that in faithfulness "ou have afflicted me.

    * may "our loving!indness comfort me, according to "our word to "our servant. May "our

    compassion come to me that 2 may live, for "our law is my delight. May the arrogant beashamed, for they subvert me with a lie but 2 shall meditate on "our precepts. May those who

    fear "ou turn to me, 8ven those who !now "our testimonies. May my heart be blameless in

    "our statutes, so that 2 will not be ashamed.

    9My soul languishes for "our salvation 2 wait for "our word. My eyes fail with longing for"our word, while 2 say, ;When will "ou comfort me:; (hough 2 have become li!e a wines!in in

    the smo!e, 2 do not forget "our statutes. 0ow many are the days of "our servant: When will

    "ou e3ecute judgment on those who persecute me: (he arrogant have dug pits for me, men who

    are not in accord with "our law. 'll "our commandments are faithful they have persecuted mewith a lie help me4 (hey almost destroyed me on earth, but as for me, 2 did not forsa!e "our

    precepts. +evive me according to "our loving!indness, so that 2 may !eep the testimony of "ourmouth.

    :&orever, * )ord, "our word is settled in heaven. "our faithfulness continues throughout allgenerations "ou established the earth, and it stands. (hey stand this day according to "our

    ordinances, for all things are "our servants. 2f "our law had not been my delight, (hen 2 would

    have perished in my affliction. 2 will never forget "our precepts, for by them "ou have revivedme. 2 am "ours, save me &or 2 have sought "our precepts. (he wic!ed wait for me to destroy

    me 2 shall diligently consider "our testimonies. 2 have seen a limit to all perfection "our

    commandment is e3ceedingly broad.

    ;* how 2 love "our law4 2t is my meditation all the day. "our commandments ma!e me wiserthan my enemies, for they are ever mine. 2 have more insight than all my teachers, for "our

    testimonies are my meditation. 2 understand more than the aged, because 2 have observed "our

    precepts. 2 have restrained my feet from every evil way, that 2 may !eep "our word. 2 have notturned aside from "our ordinances, &or "ou "ourself have taught me. 0ow sweet are "our

    "our testimonies are wonderful therefore my soul observes them. (he unfolding of "ourwords gives light it gives understanding to the simple. 2 opened my mouth wide and panted, for2 longed for "our commandments. (urn to me and be gracious to me, after "our manner with

    those who love "our name. 8stablish my footsteps in "our word, and do not let any ini6uity

    have dominion over me. +edeem me from the oppression of man, that 2 may !eep "our precepts.Ma!e "our face shine upon "our servant, and teach me "our statutes. My eyes shed streams of

    water, because they do not !eep "our law.

    @+ighteous are "ou, * )ord, and upright are "our judgments. "ou have commanded "ourtestimonies in righteousness and e3ceeding faithfulness. My 9eal has consumed me, because myadversaries have forgotten "our words. "our word is very pure, therefore "our servant loves it. 2

    am small and despised, yet 2 do not forget "our precepts. "our righteousness is an everlasting

    righteousness, and "our law is truth. (rouble and anguish have come upon me, yet "our

    commandments are my delight. "our testimonies are righteous forever give me understandingthat 2 may live.
