    Fabric and Supplies Needed

    - Read through all of the instructions before beginning.- All of the seam allowances are 1/4” unless otherwise noted.- Press seam allowances open unless otherwise noted.- Width of fabric (WOF) is equal to at least 40” wide.- Right sides together has been abbreviated to RST.- Remember to measure twice and cut once!

    From Fabric A, cut:- eight 3-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut eighty 3-1/2” squares

    From Fabric B, cut:- two 2-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut fi ve 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles and ten 2-1/2” squares

    From Fabric C, cut:- two 2-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut two 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles and twenty 2-1/2” squares- three 3-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut sixteen 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles

    From Fabric D, cut:- two 2-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut four 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles and eight 2-1/2” squares

    From Fabric E, cut:- one 2-1/2” x WOF strip. Subcut one 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangle and fourteen 2-1/2” squares- two 3-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut twelve 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles

    From Fabric F, cut:- one 2-1/2” x WOF strip. Subcut three 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangle and six 2-1/2” squares

    From Fabric G, cut:- one 2-1/2” x WOF strip. Subcut two 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangle and eight 2-1/2” squares- one 3-1/2” x WOF strip. Subcut four 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles

    From Fabric H, cut:- one 2-1/2” x WOF strip. Subcut one 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangle and six 2-1/2” squares- one 3-1/2” x WOF strip. Subcut four 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles

    From Fabric I, cut:- one 2-1/2” x WOF strip. Subcut one 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangle and fourteen 2-1/2” squares- two 3-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut twelve 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles

    From Fabric L, cut:- one 2-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut twelve 2-1/2” squares- two 3-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut twelve 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles

    From binding fabric, cut:- six 2-1/2” x WOF strips

    Referring to the Quilt Assembly Diagram, mix fabrics together and sew as shown.Each block will use:- four 3-1/2” Fabric A squares- one 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangle AND two 2-1/2” squares of one fabric for the inner plus- four 2-1/2” squares AND four 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles of an other fabric for the outer plus

    Repeat to make twenty different blocks. Press all seams to the darker fabric.

    Arrange the blocks in a layout of fi ve rows of four blocks each.

    Press block seams to the left in odd numbered rows and to the right in even numbered rows.

    Press row seams open. Your quilt is complete. Baste, bind, quilt and enjoy!

    GIRLS Colorstory

    NOTE ABOUT ALTERNATE COLORSTORY: Because a different number of fabrics were used in this quilt, do not follow the cutting quantities for the Boy colorstory listed in this pattern (with the exception of Fabric A). Rather, refer to the Girl Quilt Assembly Diagram and cut fabrics in the following amounts: For each inner “plus”, cut one 2-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangle AND two 2-1/2” squares of one fabric. For the outer “plus”, cut four 2-1/2” squares AND four 3-1/2” x 6-1/2” rectangles of another fabric.
