: The plot
Rephrase the different events to make sure you understand them
and put them in the right order:

a) Juliet wakes up and finds Romeos dead body. She stabs herself
and dies.b) Romeo arranges the wedding with Friar Lawrence. Romeo
organizes his future wedding with Friar Lawrence 6c) Romeo and
Juliet are married by Friar Lawrence. Friar Lawrence celebrates the
wedding of R & J 8d) Friar Lawrence gives Juliet a potion,
which will make her appear to be dead for forty-
two hours. The friar says that once she is laid in the family
tomb, he will send word to
Romeo to come and take her away to Mantua.
FL advises her to take a potion that will feign death for 42
hours. When she is buried, he
will send a messenger to tell Romeo about the scheme.13
e) At the party, Romeo meets Juliet, the Capulets thirteen year
-old daughter. Theydance together and fall in love, not knowing
each other identity.
During the party organised at the Capulets house R meets J and
falls instantly in love
with her. However, they dont know they belong to the rival
families.

f) Juliet sends her nurse to meet Romeo. She returns wi th the
message that they will bemarried later that day by Friar
Lawrence.
Juliet wants her nurse to come and see Romeo to know more about
their future plans.
The nurse comes back and tells Juliet the Friar will celebrate
their wedding the same
day.

g) Romeo buys poison and gallops back to Verona. He finds Juliet
lying in her tomb as ifdead. He cannot live without her. He drinks
the poison and dies.
h) Romeo and Juliet are married, and that same morning Romeos
friend, Mercutio,fights with Juliets cousin Tybalt, and is killed
by him.
R and J are husband and wife, but the same day, after a brawl
between Rs friend and
Js cousin, Tybalt kills Mercutio.

i) The message from Friar Lawrence is delayed. Romeo hears from
another source thatJuliet is dead.
j) Two of the richest and most important families in Verona, the
Montagues and theCapulets, are engaged in a deadly feud. No one can
remember how it started, but it
involves everyone, from the servants to the most distant
relatives.
The two wealthiest families in Verona are sworn enemies: we dont
know how it started
but everybody is involved in this rivalry.

k) Because Tybalt has killed Mercutio, Romeo fights and kills
Tybalt. Romeo is banishedfrom Verona on pain of death.
In order to avenge Mercutios death, Romeo murders Tybalt. Thus,
the ruler of Verona
banishes him / excludes him definitely from Verona. However, if
he dares to come back
he will be sentenced to death.

l) Romeo and Juliet meet secretly in the Capulets orchard after
the party. Romeoproposes to Juliet. He says that he will make the
arrangements for the wedding the
next day.
R and J meet secretly in the orchard / td/ when the party is
over. R asks J to
become his wife and tells her he will organize everything.

m) They both part at the party, then, they discover each others
identity. When R left the party, both discover they belong to the
rival families. 4n) In the meantime, Juliets parents have arranged
for her to marry Count Paris, a
relative of Prince Escales, the ruler of Verona.
Juliets parents want her to marry Count Paris, who belongs to
the family of the ruler of
Verona.

o) Juliets parents order her to prepare for her wedding to Paris
in three day time. Indespair she asks Friar Lawrence for help.
They want her to marry him three days after, but since she
doesnt want to, she asks
Friar Lawrence to help her find a solution.

p) One day, Romeo Montague finds out there is a masked ball that
evening at theCapulets house. He decides to gatecrash the party in
the hope of seeing the girl he
loves from a distance Rosaline
R. learns a party is organized at the Capulets house, but of
course he is not invited
since he is a Montague. However, he knows that Rosaline, the
girl he is in love with will
be present that day. Thats why he decides to go there but
disguised since it is a
masked ball

q) Juliet swallows the potion the Friar has given her. Her
parents think she is dead andshe is placed in the family tomb.
She drinks the potion the Friar recommended her to take. Her
parents believe she is
gone and she is put in the family tomb.
