Before I do that, I want to tell you who I am and why you should listen to me. I have been a PGA professional golf instructor for over 30 years. I also competed successfully on the PGA Tour for five years. The basis for my instruction is not in books, magazines, or what other instructors taught me. What I teach is rooted in my experience on the front lines, competing against the very best golfers in the world for five years. I am the author of two books, “Golf Can't Be This Simple -The Swing” and “Golf Can't Be This Simple - Playing the Game” and two DVDs, “The Full Swing - the Big Idea”, and “The Short Game”. The Perfect Shotmaking System and The Perfect Swing System are two extremely comprehensive home study courses created by Concept Golf that are helping countless golfers reach their maximum potential. I am the Discover of Concept Golf and its remarkable principles. I know the perfect swing will give you hope where none seems to exist. Hope that you can actually succeed at golf. The discouragement and embarrassment you are used to will be replaced by understanding and excitement. After reading this guide you will understand, perhaps for the first time, the golf swing and more importantly, your own golf swing. You will find your untapped ability.

I want you to succeed as much as YOU want to succeed. Trust me you can, and I am going to help you. Don't let the simplicity of Concept Golf scare you. I proved the swing principles and the playing principles on my own swing and my own game before I ever dared take them to my students.

Now, the thousands of Concept Golf students have proved the principles beyond any reasonable doubt. Here's what a few are saying:

"First off I would like to thank you, over the last twenty-two years of playing golf I have NEVER put together rounds with the type of consistency that I've had for the last six, this I believe is solely reflective from the material contained in your books and videos." Peter Suarez

"I have just bought your 2 wonderful books: the Swing and Playing the game. Could you please tell me if these books exist in French? They deserve to be translated, far more than a lot of other golf books. They are such gems of intelligence, cleverness, knowledge and practical use." Sincerely, Roland Seigneur Belgium

“John, I am so excited to be able to tell you about a round of 9 holes that I shot a week ago on Sunday. I shot 1 under par for 9 holes on the toughest 9 holes on our golf course which is very difficult. I went to the first tee with no warm up and just committed to the concept golf principles for the day. I blasted my first tee shot right down the middle and hit a short wedge into the first hole. I had a tricky downhill birdie putt which lipped out. I was mildly discouraged.

Page 6: THE PERFECT SWING

The next hole a long par 5 I hit a good drive. I hit a crisp 6 iron. Then I hit a wedge onto the green hitting the flagstick and leaving a tap in birdie one under. The next hole I hit an excellent drive and my approach shot just rolled off the right side of the green. Using a shot taught at the concept golf school I chipped in for another birdie. On to the next hole which was an easy par. Hole number 5, I hit a good approach to about 12 feet and rolled in the putt for birdie. Three under. The next hole is a par 5, 600 yards into the wind. Par. Hole 7 is a 212 yard par 3 for par. Hole 8 is 445 yard par 4 which I lipped out a par putt. Hole 9 I hit an excellent drive and a good approach shot that was caught up in the wind and was just short. I chipped up to 4 feet and lipped out the putt. I finished at 1 under. My best ever score before this was 40 on that 9. I just want to thank you for your system and that experience." DL Guffey “John, Just to let you know. I bought your book "Golf Can't be this Simple" and for the first time I actually enjoyed playing with my friends. I finally got a hold of the grasp of the game. In the past I was always so fearful of missing the ball that it destroyed any fun I was having on the course. I started to relax and my middle game was the talk of the group. I still have one problem. When I tee off my ball still goes way to the right -- although it did improve slightly last time around. Thank you for finally breaking down the swing so amateurs like us can enjoy the game. Other books I've read did nothing but clog my mind with twenty different positions I couldn't learn or implement.” Yazen Alhassan

Page 9: THE PERFECT SWING

First step to improve your shotmaking – “The Big Idea” I am going to start off here by telling you something you are probably not expecting to read. Your goal is now to become a consistently good “shotmaker”, not to develop a perfect golf swing. You want to develop the golf swing that works for you, not one that is a copy of some good player’s swing that doesn’t work for you. For you to have a golf swing that works on a consistent basis, it must be based on just a few simple principles and adapted to your style. Trying to have your swing look like some good player’s swing is like you trying to be someone else. You have your own unique abilities, talents, and all of the things that make you unique. There is only one you and likewise there is only one pure, simple, authentic golf swing for you.

“““YYYooouuurrr sssooollluuutttiiiooonnn tttooo sssuuucccccceeessssss iiisss aaalllwwwaaayyysss tttooo rrreeeaaallliiizzzeee yyyooouuurrr ssstttrrreeennngggttthhhsss aaannnddd ppplllaaayyy tttooo ttthhheeemmm

wwwiiittthhhooouuuttt eeevvveeerrr cccooopppyyyiiinnnggg aaannnyyyooonnneee iiinnn aaannnyyy wwwaaayyy...””” Let's begin with the big idea of the golf swing. The first question you must answer is, what is the purpose of the swing? To many of my first-time students, their quick reply is that “the obvious purpose of the swing was to hit the ball”. That is overwhelmingly the standard answer. It's also one of the first things that create great problems with the golf swing.

CCooppyyrriigghhtt 22000066 © bbyy CCoonncceepptt GGoollff ®. All rights reserved. http://www.ConceptGolf.com

99

Page 10: THE PERFECT SWING

Thinking that the purpose of the swing is to “hit the ball” will create a swing where you are trying to hit at the ball. That means that all the energy and strength that should be carrying the ball down the fairway is dissipated before the club gets to the ball. That single misconception is the biggest power leak and will rob you of incredible distance. The correct answer to that question is… “The purpose of the swing is to deliver the golf ball to the target”. Believe it or not, it’s that simple.

TTThhhaaattt sssiiinnngggllleee ccchhhaaannngggeee iiinnn yyyooouuurrr ttthhhiiinnnkkkiiinnnggg wwwiiillllll mmmaaakkkeee yyyooouuu aaa fffaaarrr bbbeeetttttteeerrr bbbaaallllll ssstttrrriiikkkeeerrr

wwwiiittthhhooouuuttt yyyooouuu eeevvveeerrr mmmaaakkkiiinnnggg aaannnyyy ccchhhaaannngggeee tttooo yyyooouuurrr ssswwwiiinnnggg... The next question involved in becoming a good shotmaker is, “what is the swing?” This is also something I ask all of my students in the beginning. To this date, I have never received an answer. What's amazing to me is that people are working on their swings without knowing what the final product should be! In business and in life, if you’re working toward a goal you need to know exactly what the goal is. Only then can you know when you get there. I'm going to define the golf swing for you. You need to know when you get there.

“The golf swing is an athletic motion moving freely to the back foot, and then

to the front foot, with completely relaxed shoulders while using the back

leg as the source of power.”

That's it. Again, it's that simple and that easy to do. This is the big picture. Think about it, we have not started with how you put your fingers on the grip of the club, or where you put your feet, or how you hold your body. We have started only with the big picture; we have started with the final picture of the whole swing in mind. Now, and only now, the steps along the way to your final picture can make sense.

What are principles? It's important, that we both know exactly what we’re talking about. Concept Golf is principals based instruction. The word “Mechanics” is not spoken here. It's important that we both know what I mean by principles. Mechanics, we understand, are those unrelated swing bits and pieces copied from numerous good player's swings. It's those hundreds of minute details that make golfers think about their bodies during the swing. It's the stuff that has ruined as many golfers as you can count. The five Concept Golf swing principles have not just been used by golfers. They've been used by all athletes in all sports where the athlete is in contact with the ground.

Page 13: THE PERFECT SWING

Principles are ideas that are the same

for all people, for all time, past present and future that cause all the desired effects. Here, it's the ideas that have been used by the very best

athletes, consciously or unconsciously, since the beginning of time.

In the golf world Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson and Annika Sorenstam, the best of the best, all use these principles. They all used these principles for every swing and every shot all of their lives. But you say, their swings don't look anything alike. I agree with you completely. And don't you agree that all their swings must look different? They are different people after all. They're different physically, they're different mentally, they're different emotionally, they're different technically, they're different in desires, in goals, and every other imaginable way they are different. Is it any surprise that the swings would look different? Ah but wait!... In reality their swings are exactly alike. They all use the five Concept Golf swing principles in every swing.

“““IIInnn ssstttyyyllleee,,, ttthhheeeyyy aaarrreee qqquuuiiittteee dddiiiffffffeeerrreeennnttt,,, iiinnn ppprrriiinnnccciiipppllleee ttthhheeeyyy aaarrreee e eexxxaaaccctttlllyyy ttthhheee sssaaammmeee...”””

I don't care, and I know that on some level you don’t care, what you're swing looks like. What you care about, and what I care about, is the results that you get from your swing. In short, you want predictably good shots. When you're swing is based on principles and fitted to your style, your style of body, flexibility, goals, desire, etc., you will develop the swing that is exactly right for you. Your Own Authentic Swing. That's why Concept Golf instruction is based on principles and not mechanics. These principles will help you develop your own, unique golf swing:

One that expresses you and is not a copy of some good player’s swing. One that requires no practice, and no fixing.

And get this… the only practice I want you to do is to learn how to make different kinds of shots and play golf on the golf course. Principles = perfect, permanent, changeless, useful ideas.

Page 15: THE PERFECT SWING

You want quickness rather than power. Since we're talking about the perfect swing, this is another concept that you need to understand. In an attempt to get the distance that you think you need, you're tempted to muscle the swing in an effort to create power, thinking that power will create distance. The reality is this has a very negative effect on your swing, and consequently on your shotmaking. Thinking that power will create distance is instinctive reasoning. Here’s a reality check… nothing could be farther from the truth. Effort creates neither power nor clubhead speed. And it is certainly clubhead speed that you are seeking. Distance is the result of three things:

CCooppyyrriigghhtt 22000066 © bbyy CCoonncceepptt GGoollff ®. All rights reserved. http://www.ConceptGolf.com

1155

Page 16: THE PERFECT SWING

1. First, and obviously, is clubhead speed. You will not hit a 250 yard drive

with 80 mph clubhead speed. 2. Second is pressure against the back of the ball with the clubhead at impact.

If the clubhead is not traveling on a line to the target, impact will be a glancing blow and only a small percentage of the clubhead speed will actually be transfer to the ball.

3. Third is a solid hit on the clubhead. If the ball is hit outside the sweet spot, your distance will be significantly reduced.

Remarkably, when the swing is made correctly, you get all three distance creators without any physical or conscious effort. Conversely, when the swing is made incorrectly, you get none of the three regardless of any great physical or conscious effort. See the Relaxation principle below. From this moment forward, I want you to realize that you do not want to swing with power, but to generate a swing that is quick, or that produces quick clubhead speed. Remember, my job is to help you realize the perfect swing, or more correctly, your perfect swing. A sense of effort in order to create distance will keep you from realizing your perfect swing.

“As you change your thinking away from power to quickness,

your swing will show the positive results.”

How you can create clubhead speed, pressure against the back of the ball through impact, and “centerness” of hit are all results of the Relaxation principal that I cover later in this e-book. Before I get into that there are a few other things I want to share with you first. Read on!...

CCooppyyrriigghhtt 22000066 © bbyy CCoonncceepptt GGoollff ®. All rights reserved. http://www.ConceptGolf.com

1166

Page 17: THE PERFECT SWING

Control does not cause reliability Now, since you're looking for a swing that gives you predictably good shots, let's talk about reliability versus control.

“““MMMooosssttt ooofffttteeennn,,, gggooolllfffeeerrrsss ttthhhiiinnnkkk ttthhhaaattt iiifff ttthhheeeyyy cccooonnntttrrrooolll ttthhheee ssswwwiiinnnggg,,, ttthhheeeyyy cccooonnntttrrrooolll ttthhheee ssshhhooottt...”””

And control of the swing, to most golfers, is knowing exactly where the club is and where the arms are at all times during the swing. This is an effort to make sure that the club strikes the ball, hopefully in the center of the club face. It's as if the golfer assumes that he has, and can, take a backswing and then control the club back to the ball. This is all a false sense of control. In fact, this desire to control, this sense of the need to control the swing and the club, comes from a fear. That fear is the fear of missing the ball. Most golfers,

CCooppyyrriigghhtt 22000066 © bbyy CCoonncceepptt GGoollff ®. All rights reserved. http://www.ConceptGolf.com

1177

Page 18: THE PERFECT SWING

I find, play golf making sure they don't miss the ball rather than trying to deliver the ball to the target. That is a very negative perspective.

The Golfer's Prayer: "I want a swing that does not miss the ball. If I do happen to hit it, I want it to be with great power."

It may seem hard to conceive that we can consistently hit the ball in exactly the sweet spot of the club with the club moving at somewhere between 90 and 130 miles per hour. But that is exactly what the very best do every single time. The good player’s mindset about control is quite different from the higher handicap player. The good player trusts his golf swing 100% to hit the ball solidly. He has absolutely no sense of control of the swing at any time. He has control of the shot instead. The good player knows as he gives up control of the swing he gains control of the solidness of the hit and the ability to deliver the ball consistently to the target. It is only when he is actually out of control as far as the swing is concerned that he is absolutely in control of the shot and the hit. This may sound counterintuitive, but it is the truth. Control the swing and lose control of the hit and shot.

“““LLLooossseee cccooonnntttrrrooolll ooofff ttthhheee ssswwwiiinnnggg aaannnddd gggaaaiiinnn cccooommmpppllleeettteee cccooonnntttrrrooolll ooofff ttthhheee hhhiiittt aaannnddd t tthhheee ssshhhooottt...”””

So reliability comes when you give up control.

Page 19: THE PERFECT SWING

Trust me!! Understand the Principles… don’t add them to your swing Concept Golf is the seven principles of golf. That is five principles about the swing and two principles about the game. We have already discussed the definition of principle. Now we'll talk about how you are to apply the simple Concept Golf Principles to your swing. Principles are ideas. They are concepts. How would you practice an idea or concept? It doesn't sound like something you can really do, does it? Good, you're not supposed to. All you have to do is understand them. Mechanics on the other hand, will require constant practice and fixing. Mechanics are not something to understand, but to do over and over and over. It is something you must try to make habitual. We often hear the term “muscle memory” when trying to get the body to accept a new mechanical position.

You are to hit balls until the new grip, stance, backswing position, etc. not only feel right to you, but are so ingrained in your muscles that you can never make an incorrect swing ever again. Has that ever worked for you?

“““MMMuuussscccllleee mmmeeemmmooorrryyy iiisss aaa mmmyyyttthhh!!!”””

Memory requires intelligence. If you're arms, feet, legs, and hips, are supposed to develop a memory of a motion, then there must be some intelligence in the muscles of those parts of your body. Please tell me the last time you consulted your hand or your arm about what stock to buy or what position to be in the golf swing at what time. You're right; there is no intelligence in any muscle in the body. Muscle memory? I don't think so! Do you? Principles require no practice, zero practice, ever. They require understanding. Not intellectual understanding; understanding on a deeper basis. It’s that deeper basis of understanding of the same principles when you throw a baseball, serve a tennis ball, or any athletic activity that utilizes the ground as the source of power. In this sense, understanding is acceptance. Understanding is ability!

“““WWWhhheeennn yyyooouuu uuunnndddeeerrrssstttaaannnddd aaannnddd aaacccccceeepppttt ttthhheeessseee fffiiivvveee ssswwwiiinnnggg ppprrriiinnnccciiipppllleeesss,,, yyyooouuurrr sssyyysssttteeemmm

Page 21: THE PERFECT SWING

What I've just described is how you do everything in life. Walk, eat, drive a car, play sports, write a letter, - everything you do in life. You're not inclined to micromanage the body while you do any of these activities. You understand the principles underlying each activity, and let your system create the perfect motion of the body for the required application. In all these activities of life we trust the system to make the body perform flawlessly. Why not in golf? Good question, isn't it? Let me explain the "system" I talk about that governs your body’s actions. It's the little un- seen thing that makes your body function exactly right to perform the duties that are needed to achieve your goals. That sounds complicated but let me give you an example. As you drive your car on a perfectly straight road, your job is to keep your car between the two white lines. Some time I want you to notice what involuntary actions take place with your hands on the wheel to adjust the car so that it stays exactly between the two white lines. That is your system at work. It does its job perfectly without you knowing it. It will do its job perfectly without you knowing it in the golf swing is well. But when you interfere with your system by trying to make your body work in the way you think it ought to work, then your system shuts down. When your system shuts down, you have to try to create a swing that will work through your conscious brain. Then you're in BIG trouble! As I said, understanding the principles will allow your system to accept them and use them in your golf swing to your best advantage. Please also realize that you are to understand the five principles and LET your system implement them into your authentic swing.

Page 22: THE PERFECT SWING

The five principles are not five more mechanics that you need to try to work into your swing. Let your system do its job. Your job is to understand them and trust them. That's all. It's that simple. Cool, isn't it? The five Concept Golf swing principles. They are simple, logical, common sense, and absolutely all that you need for a swing that hits consistently good shots. As I said earlier, this is not theory; these principles have been proven by thousands of golfers of all levels. I caution you not to doubt them because they are so simple and few. It took many years and a great deal of effort to discover these simple truths for you. Keep in mind, these are principles, not mechanics. These are not five more things for you to add to your list of things to do in the golf swing. These principles are to be understood. By that I mean accepted into your being and your system’s being. Do not just try to understand these principles intellectually. That will not suffice. You need to accept them as real and true, and as that which will cause all the positive effects you want.

Page 23: THE PERFECT SWING

Please note: There simply is not room in this e-book to give a full explanation and understanding of each of these principles. If you want to read more detail you can get it at The Perfect Swing System or The Swing. There are five Concept Golf swing principles; two static and three dynamic principles. The Static Principles: 1- Address Position: What is needed at address is an athletic position that works for you. The golf swing is an athletic motion and requires an athletic position for its successful creation and repetition. You do not need to get into the same position as Ben Hogan or Jack Nicklaus, unless of course you are Ben Hogan or Jack Nicklaus. Athletes assume a position that will allow them freedom, strength and the ability to move laterally, from side to side. Just like the basketball player guarding a player on the court, just like the shortstop awaiting the baseball, and exactly like a tennis player awaiting a serve, golfers are ready to move from side to side to make the swing, the athletic motion, to deliver the ball to their target. As you create a picture of the baseball shortstop, a tennis player, and the basketball player, you will see their feet are about shoulder width apart and their knees flexed. From that basic athletic position you can play any sport, including golf. What I'm going to tell you right now is blasphemous. The grip is an important part of the address position. Put your hands on the club anyway you want. Just like your golf swing, your grip must suit you, and no one else. Your grip should never be a copy of anyone else's grip, regardless of how good a player he is. 2 - Alignment: Most sports are focused on getting an object to a target; the same is true in golf. The objective in golf is to hit the ball as few times as possible during 18 holes.

CCooppyyrriigghhtt 22000066 © bbyy CCoonncceepptt GGoollff ®. All rights reserved. http://www.ConceptGolf.com

2233

Page 24: THE PERFECT SWING

Hitting the ball in random directions will not facilitate a low score. Every shot should have a very specific target. The objective of alignment is to set the club and the body so that they are aimed at the target in order to facilitate the ball going to the target. This is a principal, just like in the address position, that happens before the swing takes place. In that sense it has nothing to do with the swing, but in reality, it has everything to do with the swing.

“““IIIfff yyyooouuurrr aaallliiigggnnnmmmeeennnttt iiisss iiinnncccooorrrrrreeecccttt,,, yyyooouuu wwwiiillllll aaadddvvveeerrrssseeelllyyy aaaffffffeeecccttt yyyooouuurrr eeennntttiiirrreee g ggooolllfff ssswwwiiinnnggg...”””

If you aim incorrectly, your system will try make a series of corrections in an attempt to get the ball to your target. This is one of the reasons why you will see some very strange swings on the golf course. The golfer is misaligned and his system is still trying very hard to get the ball to the target. It often results in the swing only a mother (and your opponents) could love. This is alignment for a right-handed golfer. Lefties, please do your mirror thing to have this make sense for you. Aim your club at the target and align your body to the left of the target. The line through your club and the line through your body are diverging lines, not parallel lines. Aim your body more left for shorter clubs and less left for longer clubs, but always left for all clubs and all shots.

“““AAAlllwwwaaayyysss kkknnnooowww eeexxxaaaccctttlllyyy wwwhhheeerrreee yyyooouuurrr tttaaarrrgggeeettt iiisss...””” The dynamic principles:

3 - Weight transfer: This is the first of the three dynamic principles. Weight Transfer is the basic athletic motion used by all athletes in all ground-based sports. This is the motion that creates effortless power. Please note I said, for all ground-based sports. Swimming would be a non-ground-based sport since the athletes are suspended in a fluid and cannot use the ground as a source of power. For a golfer to have a consistently effective swing, he must utilize the most powerful muscle group of his body to create that swing. That would be the legs. The legs hit the baseball, hit the tennis ball, throw the punch, break the rack in pool, send the puck into the net, shoot the basketball into the hoop, throw the football to the receiver and toss the dart to the bull's-eye. The legs also make every shot in golf. Athletes use their legs to move the body from side to side to create the tremendous strength, the effortless power, you see in professional athletes. You, too, need to use your legs to move your body from side to side to create the effortless power for a consistently dependable swing. This is quite simple to do, but in so doing, you will break another one of golf's most believed, but untrue, rules. You see, your head is a part of your body. That should not come as a surprise. And since you're using your legs to create movement in the body you should expect your head to move freely with your body. This would cause no ball striking problems. The only problems that will cause will be your playing partners, noticing that your swing now looks like a good player’s swing.

Page 26: THE PERFECT SWING

In order to transfer your weight, you start with you weight about 50-50 at address. You begin your backswing by putting all of your weight on your back foot. Reverse your swing by moving all of your weight to your front foot. Notice I didn't say most of your weight, I said all of your weight. This free moving of your body will cause your arms to be swung, and that is what you want to have happen. 4 - Relaxation: All five principles must be understood and accepted. But if I were going to star one principal, underline one principal, draw a circle around one principal, make sure that you understood one principal, it would be relaxation. As you understand this one principal, the other two dynamic principles are much easier for your system to accept. This one principal, in a sense, is counterintuitive. When the green is 380 yards away, it is tempting to want to make the ball go as far as possible. And in actuality you want the ball to go as far as possible. Instinctively, hitting at the ball as hard as you can is the solution to making the ball go far. That involves a direct use of the shoulder, arm and hand muscles. When those muscles are used directly they'll actually slow down the club and the swing creating short, inefficient shots. But every cell in the golfer's body yells, “Hit that ball with all your might.” That certainly is not how you would throw a ball farther. Your instincts would never say to you, “Use just your shoulder and arm muscles to make this baseball go far.” That would be dumb!

You would know that you need to create more speed in the arm and using the muscles of the shoulder and arm to create that speed wouldn't work. But for some reason, those are not the instincts that come into play in golf.

“““IIIttt iiisss aaabbbsssooollluuuttteeelllyyy iiimmmpppeeerrraaatttiiivvveee ttthhhaaattt ttthhheee ssshhhooouuullldddeeerrr mmmuuussscccllleeesss rrreeemmmaaaiiinnn cccooommmpppllleeettteeelllyyy

This is a fact and it’s not an option to ignore it. The only way to create great speed in your arms and club is with complete and total relaxation in your shoulders. There, I've said it twice. I must really mean it! Earlier I mentioned that with complete shoulder relaxation you would automatically get all three components of maximum distance. Now you understand how that is true. 5 - Back leg and knee: This is your true source of power. The back leg and knee is what does all the work for any good athlete. Whether it's a baseball pitcher, a quarterback, a boxer, a pool player, a tennis player, a golf professional, it's always the back leg that is doing all the work. I was looking in a picture of Jack Nicklaus that was taken at the 18th tee at St. Andrews when he was winning the British Open some years ago. The photograph was from behind Jack with the R&A building in the distance. It easy to see that Jack has just started the reversal of his swing.

The shaft of his driver is bowed. His back leg is noticeably flexed and you can see the power of his swing coming from the thigh of his right leg. Your back leg should stay flexed during the backswing. To reverse your swing, you push against the ground using the ball and big toe of your back foot to push your body out and forward through the ball. Using your leg to push your body will cause your arms to be passively dragged through the ball with great speed and accuracy. Using your legs will allow your shoulders to stay completely relaxed during the entire swing. This is exactly why the professional golfer on the PGA Tour makes the golf swing look so effortless and the ball go so far. His legs work first, and his legs work only. By keeping your back leg flexed and the weight and pressure on the ball and big toe of your back foot during the backswing, you'll be in position to use that source of power to create your through swing.

Why the five Concept Golf principles will work for you

The short answer is, Concept Golf has helped thousands of golfers of all levels improve significantly with lasting results, so it might be able to help you. I want you to open your mind and take a look at Concept Golf, the new instruction system. Why should you spend your precious time learning about this revolutionary teaching system?

What's it all about? Can it really help you improve? Can it help you become a better shot maker? Can it help you lower your scores? Can it make golf more fun for you?

The five principles have been proven true by thousands of golfers just like you. Now it’s your turn to enjoy golf like you have always hoped you could. Today, I want to introduce you, or reintroduce you, to this teaching system.

www.conceptgolf.com Teaching golfers has always been my passion. I have been a professional golf instructor for over 30 years. That was only interrupted for five years as I competed on the PGA Tour. I was taught to teach with mechanics. Those bits and pieces of unrelated information that make each golfer force themselves into some good golfer’s

positions. Every position and every inch of the swing was a copy of some good player’s positions and swing. The students I taught with mechanics sometimes improved - usually only temporarily. It was frustrating for them, and extremely frustrating for me. During my years on the PGA Tour, I played with the best of the best, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, and Tom Watson. They were never swing concerned. You might say to yourself, they weren't swing concerned, because they always hit good shots. First of all, that's not true. They hit plenty of bad shots. Secondly, I say, they were good, because they were not swing concerned. When I left the tour, I knew that there had to be a better way to teach people how to play golf. To the best of the best, their swing was not mechanics. They knew something that nobody else knew and I wanted to know it. They didn’t know what they knew intellectually, they simply understood it on a much deeper level. During several years of experimenting and seeking solutions ideas came to me in the form of principles. Five swing principles to be exact. This is what the best of the best base their swings on even though they didn't know it. What we usually see in other golfer’s swings is their style, and we try to copy that; especially if they're good golfers. And that's where problems begin to occur. Mechanics based instruction is based on individual golfer’s styles. But Ben Hogan's swing does not look like Byron Nelson’s swing does not look like Jack Nicklaus's swing does not look like Gary Player's swing does not look like Tom Watson's swing.

Yet all these golfers’ swings are exactly the same! No way! Yes, way. They are as different as night and day in style, but exactly the same in principles. That's the discovery of Concept Golf; the five simple swing principles that have been used by all good golfers and athletes forever. These are the same principles used by all athletes in every sport, except swimming. (Swimmers are suspended in a fluid and cannot use the ground as their source of energy). You use these same principles when you throw a baseball, roll a bowling ball, serve a tennis ball, kick a soccer ball, throw a dart, break a rack in pool, etc. etc. These are principles you use without knowing that you're using them. The best of the best golfers of all time use these five principles without knowing they were using them. That's the discovery of Concept Golf, these five athletic principles. What are they? Address position, alignment, weight transfer, relaxation, back leg and knee. That's all there is.

Mechanics based instruction is thousands, including the Golf Channel, magazines, and everyone you talk to. But does that mean that Concept Golf is not the truth? As I’ve said a number of times, thousands of golfers have been helped by accepting these principles. I have hundreds and hundreds of voluntary testimonials by these golfers. If mechanics based instruction were the answer, all golfers would be shooting around par. The truth is, the average handicap has gone up in the last several years, rather than down. People are leaving the game in droves because of frustration.

Concept Golf, principal based instruction, is the new way to learn how to play golf, simply and quickly. It is the uncomplicated, common sense approach to the swing and the game. Welcome to a world where golf is fun and you can enjoy the game in the way it was designed to be enjoyed. Concept Golf = Perfect Swings and Perfect Shotmaking.

Ready, set, PLAY What you have just read should motivate you to go play golf. For the first time in your life you've gotten a look into a system that is so simple, so correct, and so complete that you now have hope. You now know that there is an answer, a solution to the game of golf. You can become the golfer you've always thought you could be, sooner rather than later. What's your job? First, is to clear your head, of all the junk, garbage, mechanics that have been coming at you since you decided to take up the game. It's the one that you were born with, that you can now understand through the five principles I've just given you.

Page 34: THE PERFECT SWING

You need to understand these principles on a deeper basis than just an intellectual understanding. You need to accept these principles as truth, and that it is absolutely right for you. And then you need to go to the range and hit a few balls. Not a large bucket of balls but a small bucket of balls. Hit a few pitching wedges to a 60 or 70 yard flag, then a few 7- irons, to about a 120 yard flag, and then some 3-woods off a tee to about a180 yard flag. You are not trying to do anything different, or work on these principles. You're simply going to hit some shots with your swing once you have truly accepted these principles and your system will use them for your swing. You'll find hitting good golf shots is simple, easy and predictable. And not to worry, it won't go away. As long as you maintain these principles as your basis of understanding of the golf swing, you will be able to hit shots you will be proud of. Now it's time to go play golf on the course. Here're your rules. Play by yourself until you are comfortable with your new shotmaking ability on the course. You'll create a better and more secure foundation if you do not take your new found ability to the golf course with the intention of impressing your friend's. You will be better served to become more comfortable with your new ability before showing the new you to your friends. Your next question is when can I find a golf course that will let me play by myself? The answer is; most golf courses have a quiet period between 2 - 4 p.m. in the afternoons. That is the time for you to go the golf course and play by yourself. If someone asks to play with you, mumble something about not wanting to hold them up or you are working on some part of the game and expect to hit more than one shot when possible.
