Scholastic Book Club orders – Issue 5 A reminder: the closing date for Issue 5 online orders is tomorrow Wednesday 8 August by 9 pm. If you wish to place an order from the Book Club catalogue you will need to go the Scholastic Book Club LOOP website page, register your details if you haven’t already done so and then pay by credit card The Great Book Swap” – Tuesday 21 August

To celebrate the Book Week theme “Find your treasure”, our school will be holding a “Great Book Swap” on Tuesday 21 August to raise money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This video link provides an insight into the great work undertaken by the ILF. The “swap” will be held on both sites during the day. So how does the “Great Book Swap” work?

1. Prior to the “Great Book Swap” the students bring in a book that they love but can bear to part with. Ms Davis will be collecting the books on the 3-6 site and Ms Campbell and Mr Thompson on the K-2 site.

2. On the day (Tuesday 21 August) the students bring a gold coin for the right to choose a “new” book. It’s that easy! The Great Book Swap is indeed a fantastic way to celebrate reading during Book

Week and raise much needed funds for remote Indigenous communities. Many thanks to those students who have already donated a pre-loved book. We hope to surpass the $1116 that was raised last year. If you would like to support the event further, you can make an online donation to the school’s fundraising page in the lead up to the event. We look forward to your support. Ms Davis – Teacher Librarian Ms Campbell – 1C teacher Mr Thompson – 2T teacher

Open Night in the library Open Night is a great opportunity to visit the library – a place where all students visit every week. There will also be a range of new books on display that can be donated to the library for just $5.00. Over the next few weeks all donated books will have a bookplate placed inside to acknowledge the student who has made the donation and of course they then have the privilege of being the first person to borrow that book. I look forward to seeing you on Thursday. Ms Davis Teacher Librarian
