Principal’s Report
What a BRILLIANT BACK TO BROADWAY DANCE SPECTACULAR!!!
Every dance was magnificent! The superb energy, enthusiasm and teamwork displayed amongst the students
as they performed with pride and passion was impressive. Every student gave it their all. It was heart warming to see our amazing students, take risks, overcome fears and anxieties to step out of their comfort zone to perform in front of a 1700 strong audience. Truly inspirational!!
As I said on Friday night, I believe that our Dance Spectacular is one that will remain in the memories of our students and their families forever. Firstly, thank you to all of our students for their persistence, determination and enthusiasm to improve their dance skills over the year, supporting of one another to deliver truly spectacular performances with such enjoyment clearly radiating from the smiles on their faces!
Thank you to our mums, dads and PHPS families for all your amazing support, coordinating costume additions and family schedules to attend rehearsals. Thank you to Mike for his help with lighting and screen displays, Mr Muffet for photography, Mrs McDowell for her help with hair and make-up on the filming day, Lisa Griffith and Millie Skinner for their help on the night with make-up and hair. Mr Hough and Mr Griffith for their assistance with transportation and organisation of props.
From choreography, ticketing, props, costumes, transport, backstage co-ordination, rehearsals- to name but a few items- this was a mammoth production to organise. Thank you to Arnold for his superb choreography and costuming of the students. Thank you to the Dance Spectacular Committee, Mrs Ford, Mrs Griffith, Ms Parras, Mrs Mackay, Mr Thompson, Mrs Rudd, Miss Dale, Mrs Vanderwal, and Mrs Coventry led by Mrs Anne McLaren and Miss Lucy Ashelford, for the superb organisation and coordination of the dazzling performances. Lastly, thank you to the entire PHPS staff who supported the committee to deliver a magnificent production.
We teach you that the sky is the limit, but you have showed us that truly we should think beyond the sky. Congratulations Pennant Hills PS!!!

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY In Australia, World Teachers' Day is celebrated each year on the last Friday of October to acknowledge the efforts and important contribution teachers make to our society. At PHPS we are very fortunate to have such a wonderful group of dedicated teachers. Thank you to all of the PHPS staff, for all of the effort and time you give day after day to ensure our students have the best opportunities to learn and grow. The theme of this year’s World Teacher’s Day is “The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher.” At PHPS our teachers are all qualified and accredited.
LAST DAYS TO HAVE YOUR SAY - PARENTS AS PARTNERS Please use the following link to access the survey: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/68v24 WEDNESDAY 9am is the last chance for our community to participate in the Partners in Learning parent survey for 2018. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. We as a school use the survey results to help our school understand parents and carers perspectives on their child’s experience at school. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements. We would love to have a response from every family so that the survey is a true representation of our school community, and I urge you to set aside some time to provide current feedback to the school.
2019 STUDENT ENROLMENT – NO LATER THAN FRIDAY 26 OCTOBER https://goo.gl/forms/liOtAGFFbZIQfvWA2 Thank you to those families who have already completed the ‘2019 Student Enrolment’ form. These numbers are submitted to determine the staffing allocation of PHPS for 2019. So far, we have had 72 / 388 families let us know if they intend to return to PHPS in 2019. Parents of Year 6 students do not need to complete the form on their behalf, all other students need to be accounted for. Thank you for your assistance in ensuring our enrolment figures for 2019 are accurate. Please complete this form no later than Friday 26 October 2018.
COMMUNITY OF LEARNERS - Triple P – Positive Parenting Program
Congratulations to those parents who attended the three sessions and completed the program. We know children do not come with an instruction manual, and any extra tips or strategies to feel confident and ready to deal with common, challenging behavioural issues positively, is always welcomed. Thank you to Mrs Krivohlavy and Mrs Roman for preparing and presenting this course to our community. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
“It felt good to know that you are not the only one struggling.”
“It has been an excellent resource and definitely given more strategies to manage challenging behaviours. Thank you!!!”
“Provides an effective structure for parents to manage children’ behaviour.”
“Thanks so much! The handouts are fantastic.”
“A beautiful seminar. It’s a must attend seminar for all parents.”
EXERT FROM HERMIDALE PS NEWSLETTER Thank you to Pennant Hills, Largs and Maraylah Public Schools
Pennant hills Public School held a ‘Dress as a Farmer day’ at the end of last
term and their school canteen held a pizza fundraiser on the day. During the
holidays I had a lovely catch up with Rhonda Gosman who is the relieving Principal
at Pennant Hills Public School and some dedicated teachers who were in the school
planning during the holidays. We sincerely thank Rhonda, her staff, the schools P&C
and families for thinking of us and thank you to Jenny Whalan (nee Donald) who was
a teacher at Hermidale PS (in the late 90’s) and who is now a parent at Pennant

Band 2019 – Enrolling Now Now enrolling for next year’s Training Band. Anyone interested in joining the band program, please email [email protected]. The year 2 blow test was conducted at school today, please contact the band for any last minute enrolments. Intention to Apply For Year 7 Entry to a Selective High School In 2020 Selective high schools cater for high achieving academically gifted students who may otherwise be without sufficient classmates at their own academic and social level. These schools help gifted and talented students to learn by grouping them with other gifted and talented students, teaching them in specialised ways and providing educational materials at the appropriate level. Applications for selective high school placement are considered mainly based on the Selective High School Placement Test results and school assessment scores. The Selective High School Placement Test will be held on Thursday 14 March 2019. If you would like to have your child considered for Year 7 selective high school entry in 2020, you will need to apply via the internet using a valid email address (not the student’s email address). Detailed instructions on how to apply online will be available from mid-September 2018 at: https://education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7 The application website opens at that link on 9 October 2018 and closes on 12 November 2018. You must apply before the closing date. Kindergarten 2019 Enrolments We are currently enrolling Kindergarten students for 2019.
