When was the last time that you used the stars to navigate? Stars!? We don’t even use printed maps anymore. We pull up “maps” on our smart devices and away we go. It wasn’t that long ago when stars were used for navigation. We have a vestige of that practice: the north star. In the northern hemisphere, the north star points consistently to the north pole regardless of the time of year or the time of night. If you know how to locate the north star, even if you are lost, you will at least know what direction you are going. We are lost. We have a sense of it. We don’t always know which way we are going. We have this nagging feeling that life is not turning out the way that it should; That we are not who we are supposed to be. The cause is sin. Sin has darkened our world and our lives. We are all just stumbling around trying to find our way. In our blindness, we hurt the people around us. Sometimes, we don’t see them and their needs. Sometimes, we selfishly don’t even care. If only someone could show us the way. If only there was a star that we could follow. There is! Jesus said, “I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (EHV John 8:12) Jesus was born to guide you safely to heaven. He came into this dark sinful world to find and to rescue you. He lived and died so that all of your sins are forgiven. Everything that you have ever done wrong is paid for. Your guilt is taken away. He didn’t do this because you were good or because He needed you in some way. Jesus did it because He loves you. He wants you to be safely home with Him in heaven. Follow Him. Read the Bible and learn more about what Jesus has done in love for you. He can be your north star. When life gets dark and you can’t find your way, Jesus will guide you. He will take you by the hand and get you safely home. Follow Jesus. The new year is a time to set a new direction or to affirm an old.

If only there was

a star that we could follow. There is!

Jesus said, “I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (EHV John 8:12) Jesus was born to guide you safely to heaven. He came into this dark sinful world to find and to rescue you. He lived and died so that all of

your sins are forgiven. Everything that you have ever done wrong is paid for. Your guilt is taken away.

He didn’t do this because you were

good or because He needed you in some way.

Join us to worship God and study His Word as we follow Jesus the Savior.

The purpose of our congregation is to worship God, who gives life through Word and Sacrament; to serve one another in love and fellowship; and to proclaim forgiveness and salvation to all through Jesus Christ alone.

Digital resources at Peace – Happy 2020! The Gospel Outreach Board wants to let you know of the different types of digital resources that Peace is using. These resources provide multiple opportunities for outreach, as well as spiritual encouragement for members. We pray that these resources will be beneficial to you and to people to whom you reach out with the Gospel in the new year.

Do you shop on Amazon? An easy way to generate donations to Peace year-round is to go to smile.amazon.com and choose to support Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church

of North Mankato Inc. Always shop through smile.amazon.com (same website and prices as amazon). You will have a running tally of how much you have generated in donations to Peace! Donations are deposited in our account quarterly. Thank you!!

Just a reminder of the option you have of using “electronic giving” for making your regular church offerings or special fund offerings. Contributions can be debited automatically from your checking or savings account or processed using your debit or credit card (Peace is charged a larger percentage of your donation). The electronic giving program offers convenience for you and much needed donation consistency for our congregation.

If you are currently giving on a weekly basis, you will no longer need to write out 52 checks a year or prepare 52 envelopes. And, when travel, illness or other circumstances prevent you from attending services, this program will allow your weekly offerings to continue in an uninterrupted basis.

You can set it up yourself by going to our website, www.peacemankato.com, click the “Online Giving” box and put in your information. You choose how often you donate (weekly, monthly, certain date(s), etc.).

Are you unable to care for your feet? Your church home is offering a service to help you care for your feet and toenails.

By appointment, a registered nurse, using sanitary equipment, will soak and wash your feet, trim toenails, and finish with a lotion foot massage. If the nurse feels further medical attention is needed, she may suggest an appointment with your health care provider. This service is free; however, donations will be accepted to go to a church cause. For more information, or to set up an appointment, please call Amy Jo Reiner at 507-340-2061.

Our Mission

To watch our service live, go to: www.peacemankato.com/livestreaming or our Facebook page. The service will start automatically when it is live (8:15AM regular service).

For recorded services, go to: www.vimeo.com/peacemankato and you can choose which service you wish to watch. We are currently only streaming and recording during the 8:15 service.

Jesus Lambs at Peace Preschoolers welcome Emma Dueck into our Peace congregation with her family. “See the kind of love the Father has given us that we should be called children of God, and that is what we are!” I John 3:1

What happiness our children felt presenting Jesus’ birth in song and recitation for our Preschool Program! We thank our parents for helping with lines and all of the emotions that go with standing in front of so many people when you are a little person. We talk daily to our preschoolers about singing and praying from our hearts to Jesus. The children know that Jesus has done everything for us. He lived, died and rose again from the dead so that we could be in heaven one day with Him.

We thank Pastor Moldstad and Michele Wiederich for many preschool Christmas practices. Thanks to Laurel’s Edge and Laurel’s Peak for letting us carol there. And special thanks to President and Mrs. Schmeling for hosting our field trip visit to Bethany Lutheran seminary and telling a beautiful story of Jesus in the Candy Cane Story. And, the children loved the snacks!! Thank-you, Becky Schmeling and Elsa Ferkenstad!

We thank Mike Madson for leading the youth choir at our Christmas Program and to our youth and preschool alumni for helping with our last song. We thank Tammi Emmons, Elisa Londgren and Hilary Lien for all of their help with the children. We thank Brittany Cordes for playing for us and thanks to Keith Wiederhoeft and John Moldstad for bringing so many risers so that parents could see their children. We also give special thanks to Karen Wold for providing us with a beautiful program and words for our parents to follow along.

Many thanks to Kristi Ringen for heading up our Fellowship Lunch after our Preschool Christmas, with Josh Ringen, Marilyn and Bob Paulsen, Kris Flygare, Tom and Connie Schulz and Keith and Joni Wiederhoeft. We also thank our parents for bringing cookies. Tammi Emmons and I, were completely overwhelmed by the great shower of Christmas gifts from our preschool families. Words cannot say thank-you enough!

With our winter semester approaching, please contact Joslyn at 385-7752, if you would like to enroll your child in our Christ-centered preschool. And please continue to keep Jesus’ Lambs at Peace Preschoolers in your prayers!

Baptism of Emma, Evelyn, and Elliot Dueck with parents Josiah & Serena, and sponsors Ben & Haley Lundsten and Jordan & Laura Smith.
