Social Media : Good or Bad?
Everyone can see that social media is a huge part of teenagers and young adults lives today. These days you see the average teenager posting about everything on social media from using the bathroom to seeing a double rainbow at school. There is everything on social media these days. The great thing about social media is that you can connect with friends without sending a letter that takes days to receive. Now you can send a message that only takes seconds to send, read and reply. Now-a-days everyone is meeting new friends on social media with common interests on many new social media outlets like Tumblr, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Kik, Ask.fm, Tinder, Skype, eHarmony, Pinterest, YikYak, Google+, and Vine. Social media is a huge factor in the way most teens and young adults communicate these days, many apps can help teenagers express themselves. It also helps a lot of people make new friends in a new areas. There is the equal amount of cons to pros, for example social media can dictate your life, and it ends up being a job. Also you waste time on it, and rarely get anything done and it becomes addicting. The worst case scenario is cyber bullying. The pros to social media is you can express yourself, make new friends, students do better in school and as cliché as this sounds you can maybe actually find love on social media.
Over all, teens are affected with social media one way or another, good or bad, but it’s everywhere in
21st century. So we have to adapt to it.
On a Tuesday at 5:30pm to 9:10pm there was a fire in Dos Palos. Toxic fumes and the fire was about 15 to 20 feet only from the burning recycling centers.
They reported that no one was injured, but they said that everyone should remain inside their home at all times because there's a lot of bad air from the fire that has lasted for an hour. The fire was not caused by an immediately known danger, but they have no idea what else could have.
The firefighters were expected to be on the scene earlier, but they barely arrived the next morning on Wednesday. The officer said that people who have an air conditioner should use it to have better air, so the people can breathe better instead of having the bad air going into their homes. At Dos Palos the fire lasted longer because there
was recycling plants burning and pretty much it
started on Tuesday and the fire was put out on
Wednesday, so the fire was burning the plants for 2
days.

1. Be respectful to your elders (upperclassmen). 2. Don’t stay up too late, make sure to go to bed by 1 or 2 am. 3. Always stay cheerful, never gloomy. 4. Don’t wipe off every dirt streak on your shoes, they’re meant to be dirty and durable. 5. Make sure to organize all your school subjects, or else they’ll be everywhere.

Our Cross Country team has

Championship is not too far away,
good luck to Cross Country!
CSU Chico is located 90 miles north of
Sacramento in a small suburban town in
Chico, California. Chico state is a fairly
large campus, and offers certificate,
bachelors, and masters degrees. Popular
majors include: Business/Marketing, Health
Professions, Social Science, and
Psychology. Most freshmen students live
on campus their first year, because it is an
easier way to get involved with the
community. The community in Chico is very
friendly and is a great way to learn to live
on your own comfortably. Greek life is
popular around Chico and they offer
fraternities and sororities.
On October 10th was the band and color guards’ first competition in
Cupertino. At around 6 A.M. everyone was on the bus and ready to go. On the
trip over there everyone was full of tiger pride and ready to start the competitions.
By around 9:30 all the band and colorguard was ready to step off for the parade.
We got to practice a full run before we got to the judges and everything turned
out great. Once we all were prepared and set for the first run in front of the
judges Brea Roland, the Drum Major, did her tweets and everyone did what they
needed to do. When the band turned the corner and the music ended we all
huddled up in front of Mr.Brand while he told us all that he liked what he saw out
there. After lunch we had to go to the award show. We came back with three first
place trophies, one for the color guard, and two for the marching band.

If you have watched The Devil Wears Prada and you’re deeply interested about fashion, then I’m
pretty sure that one of the main characters, Miranda Priestly, portrayed by Meryl Streep, might seem
familiar to you. This movie was actually inspired by English editor-in-chief of American Vogue,
Vogue’s publisher, and artistic director for Conde Nast. Wintour has become a very important figure in
the fashion world and has been praised for her eye on fashion trends as well as her support for younger
designers.
Anna Wintour has been known for her signature look which includes her iconic pageboy bob
haircut, large sunglasses and chilly demeanor. She was born in London, England on November 3rd, 1949
making her 65 years old. She is the eldest daughter of Charles Wintour who was the editor of the London
Evening Standard. Her father is actually the person who wanted her to get into fashion.
Way before she was associated with Vogue, Wintour started out working for Harper's & Queens
in the fashion department. As years passed by, she was able to advance in the editorial ladder and went
from publication to publication between London and New York all within her 20's. She then moved to
New York and took over as a fashion editor for Harper's Bazaar. After constantly moving from brand to
brand, she finally was announced editor-in-chief for Vogue.
Wintour does plenty of charity work, such as raising money for the Twin Towers fund when 9/11
terror attacks occurred. In February of 2012, Anna Wintour co-hosted a fundraiser for our President
Barack Obama alongside with Scarlett Johansson. The event was named “Runway to Win” and offered
up Obama-themed fashion as well as accessories from designers such as Tory Burch, Marc Jacob, and
Diane Von Furstenberg.

By: Vanessa Sanchez
Antonio Rubio is a junior on the Varsity Wrestling team. I decided to interview the wrestling team because it doesn’t get
enough attention that it deserves.

“I joined wrestling to help support my best friend Dreu back in freshman year.
What do you do to prepare for a match?
“To prepare for a match I listen to music and imagine only me and my opponent”
Any mantras or quotes you use?
“In Wrestling Gods We Trust”
Do you get nervous before a match?
“I get extremely nervous!”
What do you like about wrestling?
“I love the fact that each match you wrestle you’re noticed for
your own accomplishments not the teams. I also love the fact the
team is like a family and supports each other.”
Mrs. McCullough, a Teacher
By: Alton Hughes
How long have you been teaching?
Thirteen years.
Did you always enjoy teaching?
Yes.
What do you enjoy about teaching?
The kids, the talking, the sharing of ideas, learning something new every day.
Any struggles about teaching seniors?
Their focus is sometime not there and the idea that they think they have a lot of time to do their work when they really don't.
How have you grown since the first time you started teaching?
I think I'm better at lesson plans, knowing what interests the kids, knowing how to present material where they can work through.
What are you going to miss about your students who are graduating this year?
The friendships I've made, seeing them on campus, their yelling
and screaming, the bonding, the bantering.

Ideas to Make Your October Better!
With Halloween coming up, procrastinators, such as myself, will wait until the very last minute to throw a quick and simple outfit together. Sometimes, costumes can also be very expensive for just one night and you will most likely never wear it again or grow out of it. A very simple costume that is both for females and males is, a magician, bandit, hippie, toga and you could make a wreath of leaves to wear on your head, skeleton, Mario or Luigi, Vampire, Zombie, Pumpkin or even Risky Business. For females, easy costumes to put together could be, a Mouse or Minnie Mouse, Bunny, Cat, Bee, Frosty the Snowman or Olaf, or a silent film star. For males, simple costumes are, Ash or pikachu, Tony Stark, Robin Thicke, Cowboy, Tourist, Waldo, Firefighter, Beekeeper, Zack from Saved by the Bell, anyone of the teenage mutant ninja turtles, Carl or Russell from Up, Spock from Star Trek, or Drew Carey from The Price is Right. In conclusion you don’t really have to waste money or try too hard to look amazing for just one night.
