Rhythm
A short, rhythmical song, in which several voices enter at equally spaced
intervals of time
Round
Standard of measure in musical time. One beat
lasts until the next begins.
Beat
Part of a staff set off by bar lines.
Measure
Five parallel, equidistant lines with
spaces in between
Staff
The higher notes Line notes = EGBDFSpace notes = FACE
Treble Clef
The lower notes Line notes = GBDFA
Space notes = ACEG
Bass Clef
The degree of height or depth to a tone or
sound
Pitch
Gradual, steady increase of sound
or force.
Crescendo
Gradual, steady decrease in loudness
or force.
Diminuendo
Characteristic rate, rhythm, or pattern of
music.
Tempo
Two numbers at the beginning of the staff; top number tells
how many beats per measure; bottom tells which kind of note
gets one beat.
Time Signature
Vertical lines placed in a staff to mark off
measures.
Bar Lines
Basic grouping of beats.
Meter
