Do you want to be excellent? Find out how.

Historically, different devices have been used for the correction of the Class II malocclusion, including the Functional appliances of different designs and the Headgear, with its different variations and modes of action.

The popularity of the Herbst appliance in the last 25 years has brought about a new interest in the potential use and application of inter-maxillary hinge devices for the correction of the Class II malocclusion.

The Forsus Fatigue Resistant Device belongs to the new generation of such appliances. The Forsus is an easy-to-use, yet dependable appliance that can be used efficiently in different clinical scenarios where the correction of the skeletal or dental components of the Class II malocclusion is needed. All the appliances are pre-made and therefore no lab work is required. The ideal size of the rod can be easily selected and the parts can be assembled together, adjusted and located in the mouth of the patient within a few minutes.

In this course the indications for the use of the Forsus appliance will be described, the advantages of the appliance versus other types and designs of similar appliances will be discussed and the daily ‘by the chair’ clinical management will be presented.

Several case reports will illustrate the potential use and application of the Forsus appliance in different clinical scenarios and the positive outcome that can be obtained. The final part of the course will consist on a hands-on workshop where the adequate selection, installation and adjustment of the appliance will be shown and will be performed by the attendants.
