Stewardship Reflections: “…I am a minister in accordance with God’s stewardship given to me to bring to completion for you the word of God.” (Colossians 1:25)

We are all called to evangelize – to continuously grow in our relationship with Jesus and to share it with others. We may not be called to evangelize like St. Paul, but we should look for opportunities to share our faith with those closest to us, like our family, friends and neighbors. Pray for the courage to share your faith the next time the opportunity arises.

From Our Social Justice Group Our Parish Social Justice Group meets monthly to look at ways we can put the following principals of the Catholic Social Teaching into practice in our parish and our broader community. One of the principles is Solidarity. In this principle, we believe everyone belongs to one human family, regardless of their national, religious, ethnic, economic, political and ideological differences. Everyone has an obligation to promote the rights and development of all peoples across communities, nations, and the world, irrespective of national borders.

The plight of asylum seekers raises serious concerns for Catholics and others of good will. Claiming refugee status is an arduous process, and the treatment of those seeking asylum is often inhumane. This runs counter to belief in the equal dignity of all human persons and a universal human brotherhood based on the common good. The Catholic Social Teaching maintains that anyone whose human dignity is threatened has the right to flee, and the international community has a duty to provide assistance. Underlying this belief is the conviction that the interest of the human person is paramount, rather than the interest of states or national security. The Australian Catholic Social Justice Council state that unless there are compelling reasons to believe that asylum seekers represent a serious danger to the community, they should not be interned or detained.

Australian Catholic Youth Festival will be held in Perth in December this year. Young people from year 9 - age 30 are invited. The parish will provide sponsorship.

We are also looking to form a Parish Youth Council, to support Emily, our youth worker, and to offer advice and support for parish youth initiatives.

If you are interested, please contact the parish ([email protected]) or see one of the priests.

More information can be found at www.cam.org.au/acyf19.

Our Lady’s Chapel It is very pleasing to see the amount of people who use the Adoration Chapel on a regular basis. Could those who use the Chapel please make sure that the door is closed properly when they leave and the air conditioner is turned off Thank you.
