Stewardship A Way of Life
This Week’s Readings “Every worthwhile gift, every genuine benefit comes from above,” says St. James in the second reading. But, he reminds us, true worship of God involves using those good gifts to benefit the less fortunate. Good stewardship is not optional; it is the hallmark of our faith!
In Living Stewardship We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who demonstrate their generosity that they understand God is the Source of all they have.

9 TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
10 September 2, 2018
11 TWENTY-SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
It takes the entire faith community to form our children in their love for God, the Church and others. While parents have the important role of being first catechists or primary teachers of the faith,
it takes the gifts and talents of the entire community to provide good formation.
We are turning to you, the parish of Saint Agnes Cathedral, to be a living witness for Christ and work with the children in our religious education program
For the coming catechetical year we will need:
CATECHISTS (similar to religion teachers) These women and men guide our young ones through the stories of God’s love and the teachings of our Church.
Catechists for Levels 1-6: each catechist is assigned a group of 10-15 children. Meets weekly in Saint Agnes Cathedral School. Sessions on Mondays and Tuesday in the afternoon and early evenings
Catechists for Confirmation Preparation for Levels 7and 8 . Working with our youth mixing
small group and large activities in this video/text based program. Catechists for Particular Situations: At times we need catechists to work with small groups because of particular circumstance that have arisen.
Catechists for older children preparing for Christian Initiation: leading, guiding and supporting those children who are preparing to be baptized, confirmed and receive first communion. Through a special process of formation (RCIA).
ASSISTANT CATECHISTS Men and women to assist the catechist in the classroom and if necessary substitute for the catechist. Assistants are high school sophomores and above and of course adults.
MONITORS: To ensure good order and safety of our children, we are looking for people to serve as receptionists at the entrances, hall monitors, and property monitors (being outside particularly at the beginning and end of each session to ensure safety.)
OTHER GIFTS AND TALENTS SOUGHT: Those with music (guitarists, singers, pianists) and art backgrounds to work with catechists in developing and connecting the gospel and church teaching to the way we pray and to the arts.
TRAINING AND FORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED.
COME LEARN HOW YOU CAN BE PART OF THIS GREAT MINISTRY OF FORMATION

Mercy Medical Center is seeking volunteers! Volunteering is a rewarding and enjoyable experience that offers a unique opportunity to enrich one’s life while helping others. Mercy relies heavily on volunteers to assist patients and visitors in various departments throughout the hospital and currently has an urgent need for volunteers to help staff the front desk in the hospital’s Main Lobby. Volunteers of all ages are welcome and you can volunteer when it’s most convenient for you. Mercy’s volunteers have always been a vital part of the hospital and are valued as integral team members. If you have an interest in finding fulfillment by sharing your time and talents with others, making new friends, or would like to explore career opportunities in the health care field, Mercy Medical Center’s volunteer program can provide you with first-hand experience. For more information about joining Mercy’s dedicated team of volunteers, please contact Kevin Croutier, Director of Volunteer Services, at (516) 705-1394.
