National Unified Audition Dates:

MONDAY, February 5, 2018: 9 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.TUESDAY, February 6, 2018: 9 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

3:30-4:45 p.m. Dance Call, Both Days

Registration:

• Preregistration is highly recommended to ensure an audition time. To preregister, see page 4 of this packet.

• Preregistered students will each receive complementary welcome packets from the School of Theatre & Dance.

• Students who elect not to preregister must bring the completed AUDITION FORM, RESUME and HEADSHOT on the day of the audition and will be seen only on a first-come/first-served basis provided audition times are available.

Audition schedule for prospective BFA Acting and Musical Theatre cohort:

• 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.* - BFA Acting/BFA Musical Theatre Auditions/Interviews. *Auditions will be scheduled in six minute increments upon registration. Please be aware, those interested in auditioning for BFA Musical Theatre MUST return at 3:30 p.m. for the Dance audition.

• 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. - Faculty Break for Lunch. Interviews as necessary.

• 1:00-3:00 p.m.* - BFA Acting/BFA Musical Theatre Auditions/Interviews. *Auditions will be scheduled in six minute increments upon registration. Please be aware, those interested in auditioning for BFA Musical Theatre MUST return at 3:30 p.m. for the Dance audition.

• 3:30 p.m.-4:45 p.m. - Dance audition for prospective BFA Musical Theatre.

This audition will also serve as a scholarship audition for prospective students interested in applying for School of Theatre and Dance scholarships.

What to wear for Dance audition:

Women: Leotard and footless tights with optional cover up. Additional cover up may be worn for modern and jazz segments. Ballet shoes required for ballet audition, jazz shoes optional. Men: Footless tights and form fitting tank or unitard, dance belt highly recommended. Cover up may be worn for modern and jazz segments. Ballet shoes required for ballet audition, jazz shoes optional.

What to wear for Vocal/Acting Audition:

Musical Theatre students should also bring appropriate attire to wear for the Acting/Vocal Audition.

Additional Information:

• * Admittance to the BFA Musical Theatre program requires three audition components: Acting, Singing, and Dance.

• *Students who audition for our representatives at National Unified Auditions, North Texas Drama Auditions, Greater Houston and San Antonio Auditions, TETA, SETC, or U/RTAs are not required to attend our on-campus audition dates, but are strongly urged to consider doing so.

• *Students who audition at any of the above without a dance component are required to audition on-campus (or, in dire circumstances, a video submission may be considered).

• *Students unable to attend on-campus audition dates must contact Research Assistant Lauren Carlton ([email protected]) no later than 1/20/2018 for permission (and instructions on how to) to submit video footage for consideration.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I find out more about the BFA in Musical Theatre at TTU? A: Visit our departmental website: theatre.ttu.edu.

Q: What material(s) do I need to prepare for the Musical Theatre vocal audition? A: The audition will consist of two contrasting monologues and two contrasting songs (one up tempo and one ballad- of these two, one must be contemporary and one must be Golden Age). Monologues should be no more than one minute each, and each song should be no more than 32 bars.

Q: Will there be a live accompanist? A: No. We request each prospective student auditioning for BFA Musical Theatre bring their own audio equipment and track. Please note piano cuts are preferred over karaoke tracks.

Q: Do I need to bring a headshot and/or résumé? A: Yes to both. You will be able to submit these electronically through Acceptd. If you elect not to preregister you must bring your headshot and résumé, along with a completed audition form, to the audition with you.

Q: What happens if I preregister for the audition but then can’t come? A: If you are unable to attend but still wish to audition, contact Lauren Carlton (per instructions on page 1) for information about submitting digital – considered under dire circumstances. If you are unable to audition, email Lauren Carlton immediately.

Q: Is there an interview component? A: Yes. Faculty may elect to ask you a few questions during your audition time.

Q: When will I find out if I am accepted to the BFA Program? A: You will be notified via phone call, if accepted, and via mail (snail) and email by April 1, 2018, of the faculty’s final decisions.

Q: Can I be considered for the BFA Acting, BA, or Minor even if I auditioned for the MT Major? A: Yes, be sure to make the committee aware of you interest at registration or on appropriate forms.

Q: Will I find out about a scholarship when I find out about my audition results? A: Most likely. The School’s Scholarship Committee will review applications in late February and will send notification to recipients by April 1, 2018.

Q: What happens if there is bad weather that prevents me from getting to the audition? A: Contact Lauren Carlton for alternate arrangements.
