We have been described as true pioneers in ministry. As a spiritual father and mother, our teaching and spiritual gifts have opened doors in many nations to take the message of authentic awakening and revival to many. For the last 40 years we have labored together to present Christ in His fullness wherever God sends us. After a dramatic conversion to Christ in 1971, I (Brian) answered the call of God to leave everything behind and become missionaries to the tribes. Taking my wife and three children to the jungle of Central America we pioneered church plants for many years with the Kuna people group. While serving as missionaries, we planted churches and established leadership for the churches that Jesus birthed. As a linguist, I (Brian) also was the co-translator for the Kuna New Testament. While missionaries in the harvest fields, God swept through villages with mighty power. That revival gave us fresh understanding of God’s prophetic purposes for the last days awakening among the nations. After our ministry in the tribes, we returned to North America.

I (Brian) began to preach with power and authority for the coming days of glory that will usher in the return of Christ. The OVERFLOWING LIFE of HOLY SPIRIT Within You! INTRODUCTION The Gift of Holy Spirit—The Greatest Gift of All! One of the birthrights of a child of God is the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit. We are born of the Spirit, filled with the Spirit, baptized by the Spirit and have been given the secrets of God by the revelation teaching of the wonderful Spirit of God. Intimate Relationship This revelation is not given without a relationship. Because of our relationship with Jesus, He promised He would not leave us as orphans, but sent His Spirit to live in us and be our life. The same Holy Spirit that lived in__________________________lives in us today! The Holy Spirit in us is as real as Jesus if were to stand before you. We have the Spirit of Christ within us. The Indwelling Holy Spirit The same Holy Spirit that anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth is IN US right now. He teaches us, encourages us, and inspires us to works of glory on earth. The 7 Spirits of God, or the 7-Fold Spirit, the 7 anointings of the Holy Spirit, lives in us. (Rev. 1:4, 3:1, 4:5, 5:6, and Isaiah 11:1-2) The anointing of heaven is in__________________________! (Rom. 8:9) The Holy Spirit is our__________________________ring! (Eph. 1:13-14) It is by Holy Spirit that we are born again, or born from above. It is by Holy Spirit that we are baptized into the Body of Christ into the place He wants us to serve with the gifts He gives us. The Four Things We Have by Holy Spirit: Gifts – 9 gifts of Holy Spirit enable us to function in ministry “For example: The Spirit gives to one the gift of the word of wisdom. To another, the same Spirit gives the gift of the word of revelation knowledge. And to another, the same Spirit gives the gift of faith. And to another, the same Spirit gives gifts of healing. And to another the power to work miracles. And to another the gift of prophecy. And to another the gift to discern what the Spirit is speaking. And to another the gift of speaking different kinds of tongues. And to another the gift of interpretation of tongues. Remember, it is the same Holy Spirit who distributes, activates, and operates these different gifts as he chooses for each believer.” 1 Corinthians 12:8-11 TPT


The Holy Spirit is__________________________ ! These are grace gifts, not merit badges for the elite. In GRACE He pours out gifts on His body to enable us for MINISTRY. Fruit – 9 Fruit of the Holy Spirit enable us to present Christ to the world. “But the fruit produced by the Holy Spirit within you is divine love in all its varied expressions: joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart, and strength of spirit. Never set the law above these qualities, for they are meant to be limitless.” (Galatians 5:22-23 ) This is the HARVEST of the Holy Spirit produced in us as we__________________________in the vine! Revelation – He gives us insight that comes from the deepest place in God’s heart. He is the mind of Christ that guides us, instructs us, and shows us the meaning of God’s Word. Our minds are not sufficient to understand truth apart from Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit opens the TREASURE of God’s__________________________in us! Holy Spirit IS the MIND of__________________________! (1Cor. 2:16) Power – This is the baptism of the Holy Spirit that empowers us to witness, to prophesy, to preach, and bring Christ to our family, our workplace, and our nation. (Acts 2) The Church needs to be reintroduced to the Holy Spirit. The greatest gift that keeps on giving!! THE RIVERS OF EDEN—THE RIVERS OF BLISS There is ONE RIVER that flowed through the Garden of Bliss. As it came out of the garden it divided into four branches, the RIVERS of EDEN picture the Holy Spirit flowing through YOU. Paul calls us in 1 Corinthians 3:9 “…you are God’s cultivated garden.” We are the Garden of Eden! Song of Songs 4:15 - The King looks at His radiant bride and says – “You are a fountain of gardens.” (literal Hebrew) -- All our fountains are in Him, and HE makes us a garden of bliss for His glory. He enjoys us! Jesus said that if we believed in Him, that out of our innermost being would flow rivers of living water (John 7:38). I wondered if the rivers flowing out of God’s original garden (Eden) have any kind of message relative to the rivers that are supposed to be flowing out of God’s garden (our lives) today. A drink becomes a river. Out of our innermost being, from deep within us is birthed a river. Multiple rivers flowing through us. Rivers of grace, rivers of life, rivers of truth, rivers of salvation. Look at Genesis 2: 10In the land of Eden, there was a river that flowed through the garden to water it, and from there it divided into four branches. 11The first is the river named Overflowing Increase, which winds throughout the gold- laden land of Havilah. 12The gold of that land is pure. Many pearls and onyx are also found there. 13The second is the river named Gushing, which flows through the entire land of Cush. 14The third is the river named Swift Flowing, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth is the river called Fruitfulness.


THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GENEROUS!


>> Overflowing Increase >> Gushing/Bursting Forth >> Swift Flowing >> Fruitfulness I believe these 4 rivers make us into the paradise of God. The same 4 rivers that flowed through Eden flow through you! Eden means a paradise of pleasure, the land of BLISS. Psalm 1:3 mentions trees (men) planted by rivers of waters (a reference to Gen.2). The man of Eden was also created (planted) by rivers of flowing waters. God made man out of river-soaked earth. In the heavenly Paradise there is a River that proceeds out from the Throne of God and of the Lamb (Rev.22:1). If you follow the River to its Source you will find the Lamb upon the throne! This River is the out flowing of God, the Living Word (Ps.36:7-9, John 4:14). Both Eden and the New Jerusalem have a river flowing through it. Eden is a preview of the New Jerusalem. Both are pictures of our relationship with God as our life, our source, our refreshment. There are three pictures that are meant to show us this NEW LIFE OF FULLNESS in our UNION with Christ. Eden Zion New Jerusalem The River is ONE, this river is the life God. As it flows out of the land of Bliss it is going to drench the earth with His presence. It parts into FOUR Heads or branches as it leaves the garden. Four is number of the universality of creation, four winds, four corners of the earth. These four rivers will keep flowing until the restoration of all things takes place. THE FOUR RIVERS These 4 Rivers Make Us the Paradise of God The First River – Pishon The word Pishon means increase or overflowing—OVERFLOWING INCREASE. I like that. God is not a God of scarcity and lack, but a God of abundance. Paul prayed (Ephesians 3:19) that believers would be filled with all the fullness of God, and John spoke of Jesus (John 1:16, saying, “…out of His fullness (abundance) we have all received [all had a share and we were all supplied with] one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and grace heaped upon grace.” The first river flowing out of that garden was overflowing increase, and it makes sense that God wants us to experience a full-flow of His Presence and power in our lives; He doesn’t want us to be drained, depleted, or deficient.


Eph. 4:9-10 He ascended up far above the heavens that He might fill all things! He wants to fill you with ASCENDING life, overflowing with an increase that cannot be measured. There is fine gold, pearls and precious stones found in that river. The river uncovered the gold, the pearls, and the precious stones that are in us! God wants to bring OVERFLOWING__________________________into every area of your life! In this river there are THE “building materials” of the New Jerusalem: GOLD PEARLS PRECIOUS STONES The Second River – Gihon Gihon means bursting forth, gushing, birthing. Isn’t that interesting? If there had only been one river coming out of the garden (full-flowing), we might have concluded that all God was concerned about was us experiencing fullness on a personal level. However, if we move beyond “fullness” and are “bursting forth” (experiencing an overflow), then the nature and character of God coming out of us is bound to influence and impact others also. The river of God will cause us to give birth to enterprises, companies, ministries, organizations that will gush forth and change the world. It would seem that the message of Gihon (bursting forth or gushing) is that God doesn’t want us merely living lives of survival or success, but to move beyond that and truly live lives of significance—not merely focusing on what we need or want for ourselves, but on what we can contribute to others. Where do you need to burst forth? Is it in the midst of a difficult family or work environment? Do you need to burst out into the community and bring forth the works of Jesus? What is it that God wants to birth through you. The Third River – Hiddekel (Tigris) Hiddekel means swift or darting, and is actually a “word picture” of a swift arrow in flight. It is not a picture of an arrow in a quiver or lying passively on the ground. When I thought about this image (a swift arrow in flight), I realized that before an arrow is ever released from a bow, it is first of all aimed at a target. A goal is in sight. The life of a believer—and remember, we are God’s garden today—is not some ethereal experience whereby we merely sit around, mystically bubbling over with His Presence. No, we are designed to have goals, aims, and objectives, and like a swift arrow in flight, we are to move toward the fulfilling of those goals with God’s help. We are not to be aimless and ambiguous in our lives. We are to be like swift arrows in flight. Paul said that he ran with purpose in every step (1 Corinthians 9:26, NLT). The Holy Spirit wants to help us be people who are deliberate and intentional in our lives, in our ministries, and in our praying.


The SWIFT FLOW of the River of God is going to bring you to__________________________! The Fourth River – Euphrates Euphrates means sweet or fruitfulness. I was blessed when I saw that. I realize that if we have the first three rivers flowing in our lives (fullness, overflow, and purpose) that it will result in us experiencing sweetness and fruitfulness. This sweetness isn’t just for our own enjoyment, either. Paul said in 2 Corinthians 2:14, “…he uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume” (NLT). If a believer is full of bitterness, he’ll export that to others. If a believer is sour in his attitude, he will no doubt pass that on to those around him. God wants our lives to be fruitful unto Him. He wants other people to be enriched through their association with us. When the names are placed together we have: The River of God will bring overflowing increase through the hearts of people, and gush like a geyser through the entire realm of what was darkened, swiftly bringing God’s people to success and fruitfulness. The Hebrew word for RIVER as used four times here in this Genesis account is NAHAR and comes from a root, TO SPARKLE, be CHEERFUL from the sheen of a running stream. It also includes the meaning of ASSEMBLE, FLOW TOGETHER, BE LIGHTENED. In an even more expanded meaning it includes LIGHT or DAYLIGHT. God’s people are going to be a SPARKLING, RADIANT, CHEERFUL__________________________! It is possible that Eden was without boundaries. It was refreshed by a river with four headwaters. It was a land filled with gold, pearls, jewels, and abundance – yet boundaries are never mentioned. It was a limitless land of freedom. The entire paradise of Eden was given to earth’s first pair—a realm of endless pleasure without sin. Eden had four rivers and Ezekiel’s river had four depths, measurements, or dimensions: Ankle deep Knee deep Waist (womb) deep Over our heads (mind) (deep enough to swim in!) deep Ezekiel begins with the River Kebar and ends up with a river over your__________________________! God’s original garden (Eden) had rivers flowing out of it. We are God’s garden today, and I believe there’s a message in the names of those original rivers. They communicate what God wants operative in our lives today, both individually and corporately. May you be richly blessed as you let the rivers flow! May you become a fountain of gardens!


The Holy Spirit Can Do These Things For You. 1. He Revitalizes our hearts. “I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live again!” Ezek.37:14 We were born from above. The wind of the Spirit gave us life. Jesus entered our hearts by the life of the Holy Spirit. Every believer will live forever because the Holy Spirit came to bring us life. The Holy Spirit will__________________________! “He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior!” Titus 3:5-6 He renews your hope. The Holy Spirit will__________________________! In Ephesians 1 Paul says that the Holy Spirit is given to us as... “A deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession.” Eph.1:14 “The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you.” John 14:26 Message He’s saying that the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life guarantees that you will get through this life—no matter how dark it may seem, no matter dry you may feel, no matter how desperate things might be—the Holy Spirit will keep your hope alive. The greatest benefit of the Spirit filled life is the absence of despair. Your Friend, the Holy Spirit will make everything plain to YOU! He is the Navigator, the GPS, the MapQuest of your life! He reveals our ‘sonship.’ The Holy Spirit will__________________________! “God sent Christ to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” Galatians 4:5-6 NLT “We should behave like God’s very own children, adopted into the bosom of his family, and calling to him, “Father, Father.” For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we really are God’s children.” Rom. 8:15-16 He created us to experience the benefits of our heavenly citizenship here on earth. It is through the fullness of the Holy Spirit that we experience the fullness of life. In him we experience life as it should be lived. That’s what the Holy Spirit can do for you. He will revitalize you, he will renew your hope, and he will restore your dreams. He’ll give you life as it should be lived. Now, some of you are saying, “I want that. I want to go from the Valley of Dry Bones to the Valley of Life. How do I get there? How do I experience this difference in my life?” Let’s take a look at that right now—how to be filled with the Holy Spirit. I want to warn you up front, though, it is very easy.

How Can I Experience the FULLNESS of the Holy Spirit? Technically, you received the Holy Spirit when you were saved—the Holy Spirit came into your life and gave life to your spirit. You received all of the Holy Spirit then...so being filled with the Holy Spirit is not about you receiving more of him, it’s about him receiving more of you. So, how do you experience the fullness? EXPERIENCING THE FULLNESS AND OVERFLOW OF GOD Believe YOU can be filled each day and overflow! Think of the Holy Spirit as your Best Friend. Nothing more important than friendship with the Holy Spirit. He is waiting and wanting to FILL you until YOUR cup overflows!! The cascading glory of God comes to us as we believe we can be filled, YES then we ARE filled! You are a container of the Christ, a dispenser of the divine, a carrier of the Christ, and an outlet of the Holy Spirit. HE WILL FLOW through you just as HE did through His apostles and prophets. You must__________________________that God wants to fill YOU with the overflow, the CASCADING LIFE of the river of the Holy Spirit! Feast on what JESUS has done IN YOU! Grace has cleansed you! Everything you need has been given. Every obstacle has been removed. FEAST and DRINK the Holy Spirit – He is God’s gift to you! SILENCE the feeling or voice that says you are unclean and not fit. Rest and feast and watch what happens. The Holy Spirit will show you all that__________________________has done IN YOU! Faith becomes the THRESHOLD and feasting becomes the TABLE! Ask for it. In fact, “asking” may not be a strong enough term. A better term might be “speak it” or “claim it.” The Holy Spirit wants to__________________________us and pull our hearts toward Him! “If imperfect parents know how to lovingly take care of their children and give them what they need, how much more will the perfect heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit’s fullness when his children ask him.” Luke 11:13 Asking of the Holy Spirit is a means to RECEIVING__________________________! The fullness of the Spirit is God’s promise to all believers. It’s a promise that we can all claim; it’s a promise that God will certainly deliver. But if we don’t claim it, if we don’t speak it, if we don’t ask for it—we’ll never experience it. There are times when I have to speak to myself the same way that Ezekiel spoke to the bones in the valley. I have to say, “Self, hear the Word of the Lord. The Spirit of God is going to breathe life into you. Receive it! Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Stop doubting him. Stop flirting with despair. Let God do his work.” In the book of Ephesians Paul commands us... Be filled with the Holy Spirit. The fact that he expresses it this way, in an imperative command, tells us that being filled with the Holy Spirit is an act of obedience on our part. It’s something we do; it’s something we initiate by asking for it...by claiming it as God’s promise. If you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit, then ask for it. Say, “God, fill me with your Spirit.”


Accept the Gift! Another way to say it is “Receive it.” That’s what Jesus said to his disciples... “And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”” (John 20:22) “Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is targeted to you and your children, but also to all who are far away—whomever, in fact, our Master God invites.” (Acts 2:38-39) Even though we initiate the work of the Spirit in our lives by asking for it, being filled with the Spirit is not something we can do for ourselves. It is something that God must do for us; it is something we must receive. We receive the Holy Spirit by yielding to him...by allowing him to have his way in our lives. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is that simple. You ask for it. You accept it. And you… Act on it Daily! “If we are living now by the Holy Spirit, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.” (Galatians 5:25 NLT) “We must live in the Holy Spirit and follow after him.” ( Galatians 5:25 TPT) God has placed a deposit into your spiritual account—he has offered you the Holy Spirit. In your account there is joy, peace, love, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. In your account there are spiritual gifts, there is power, and there is life. They are yours, but you have to act on it. You have to start writing checks. You can even say it over your life, “I am filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit, the cup within my heart, runs over!” Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not an elusive experience that we have to spend half of our lives chasing after. It is the promise of God, it is the command of God, and it is available to all believers. If your heart is right with God, you can be filled with the Holy Spirit right now. Ask for it. Accept it. Act on it. It’s that simple. Walking in the Spirit is an all-day, every-day experience. And it’s the key to victory. It’s the key to a dynamic relationship with Jesus. *To walk in the Spirit means you walk so close to Jesus you only cast one shadow!! LIVE in the__________________________! WALK in the__________________________! Intentionally welcome the Holy Spirit into you every day. As you sit and pray, welcome the Holy Spirit to fill you. Ask Him to fill you. Ask Him to saturate every area of your life. Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate any darkness in you and to expose it and drive it out. Yes, the Holy Spirit is already in us...but Paul teaches us to be continually filled with the Spirit. So, we can daily ask the Holy Spirit to fill us. This is how we carry a consistent overflowing atmosphere of His presence. WELCOME the Holy Spirit every__________________________of your life!


FINAL THOUGHTS We are all driven by something. God wants you to be a WIND DRIVEN believer. The joy of letting go and allowing the wind of God to fill you and take control is available. The breath of Yahweh, the Holy Spirit, releases you from the control spirit when you surrender to Him. You cannot control God, He longs to fill you and control your actions… Life Lesson: It is not enough to be a Christian; we must be a SPIRIT FILLED believer. You and I must be those whose lives radiate the presence of God through a daily commitment to WALK in the POWER of the SPIRIT and not simply in our own strength. Look back over these notes and watch God’s Holy Spirit come upon you! QUESTIONS 1. What is God speaking to you personally from this teaching? How has is impacted you? 2. Romans 8:9 says, “But when the Spirit of Christ empowers your life, you are not dominated by the flesh but by the Spirit. And if you are not joined to the Spirit of the Anointed One, you are not of him.” What does this reveal about the necessity of a living Holy Spirit empowered life? 3. Read 1 Cor. 2:9-16. How are we able to obtain the mind of Christ—“Christ’s perceptions”? According to verse 14, who is unable to understand spiritual things? In this passage, what are some of the things we receive through the “unveiling” and “illumination” Holy Spirit gives us? 4. In our discussion of the four levels of Ezekiel's River, we saw that the highest level is to be swept up, over our head, and past our preconceived ideas—“out of our mind” so to speak in the Spirit! What are some ways you can avail yourself to those depths? How is He calling you to go deeper? Be practical and specific. 5. Read Revelation 3:20—He wants to come in and FEAST WITH YOU! Let the sweet knowledge of His longing to commune with you stir up your own passion to feast with Him continually. Spend some time meditating on that poignant picture of the Lord Jesus...knocking. What does this reveal to your heart and what is your response?
