-Represents the Socs power and the Greasers vulnerability -Socs are protected by cars and have great mobility while Greasers are at a disadvantage on foot

-Represents disregard for authority; which Greasers pride themselves for -Individual power that comes with the potential to commit a crime -When the blade is lost, it is showing that individual power and authority are no longer a part of the Greasers; think about how this relates to Dallys death!
