Introduction to Making Gil in Final Fantasy XIV
Thanks for picking up the gil guide! In this brief introduction, we will cover the different overall
strategies we will use to make gil in Final Fantasy XIV.
In FFXIV (and generally any MMORPG) there four typical ways to make gil: farming, gathering,
crafting, and other. We will break down gil making methods into these four categories as each
one requires different disciplines leveled in order to make full use of the strategies presented.
There are a variety of viable methods that you will find in the pages that follow that can make
you a very rich player in Final Fantasy XIV.
Farming
Farming is the act of killing a particular type of monster or running a certain dungeon over and
over again in order to get a particular drop. The primary advantages of farming are that it can
be done on your main character class, is available to players of a variety of leveling ranges,
requires no gil to get started, and can be done for as long as you like. Even if you only a few
minutes to play, you can pop on and make a few thousand gil via farming.
The primary disadvantage of farming is that it is typically not as profitable as some of the other
methods discussed in this guide. The reason for this is that the major pros of farming (i.e.
convenience and a low barrier to entry) also mean that there is a lot of competition from other
players in this arena.
Fortunately, players with advanced adventuring classes (DoW or DoM) can more than make up
for the competition by excelling at farming. For example, very well geared characters can make
3-4x the amount of gil as lesser geared characters by running dungeons very quickly.
Gathering
Gathering is the easiest profession in Final Fantasy XIV to make gil with. yet also the worst. You
can start making decent gil right from level 1 without any gear - just go gather shards. A level 1
Miner or Botanist can gather shards at a decent rate. Shards are used for crafting and are not
easily earned via any other method. As a result, the most popular shard (typically Wind Shards)
will often go for 50 gil each. Given that you can easily harvest a 300-500 in an hour, you can
make 15,000-25,000 gil per hour just farming shards. While this is not great money for higher
level players, it is not bad either for a level 1 player that wants to get some gil to get some
starting equipment.
4
4 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
The only downside to gathering is that the upside is limited. A max level gatherer with full,
expensive gathering equipment is not much more profitable than a level 45 miner with cheap
equipment.
At level 50, gathering will mostly be a waste of time. The gil guide here outlines much faster
methods for making gil, so we will not waste too much time gathering. Sometimes you can use
gathering when there are not enough materials available for purchase for certain profitable
crafts. However, I generally find that it is better to invest your time into leveling up a number of
crafts, so when materials are not available, just craft something else. As a result, this gil guide
will not focus much on gathering. Let other players gather for you and simply buy their supplies
off the Market Boards for best results.
Crafting
Crafting is generally the best way to make gil in Final Fantasy XIV. There are many repeatable
syntheses which will bring in 500-10000 gil in profit, and each synthesis only takes 30 seconds
to a minute. The coolest part about crafting is that you can craft anywhere, anytime. When you
are sitting in Revenant's Toll looking for a party or waiting for your group to get together, you
can be making a 100k gil per hour crafting.
The biggest downside of crafting is that it requires a large amount of gil and time to level up
your crafting classes to the point where you can make money. Crafts (especially level 30+ crafts)
rely on cross-class skills in order to make big gil. In other words, you will need to use the
"additional skills" tab and pull skills from many different crafts in order to craft high quality
items and ingredients with regularity. Generally, high quality crafts make good gil, whereas
normal quality crafts only make a little gil (and sometimes sell at a loss).
The other downside of crafting is that you have a limited number of slots to sell items on the
Market Boards. You can easily fill up all 40 slots in the Market Boards within a few hours of
crafting and you might only sell 10-15 items a day. As a result, it is good to have farming and
gathering to fall back on should you have maxed out your earning potential from crafting.
Tricks and Tips
In the tips and tricks section, I will be revealing some unusual ways to make gil that might be
appealing for some players. One popular example is the re-selling trick. This simple trick
involves buying in-demand items from NPC vendors that sell these items at a cheap price, then
listing these items on the Market Boards for a big profit. This is a great way to make use of
5

unused Market Board slots, particularly if you are not a crafter or gatherer. A list of the best
items and vendor locations for this strategy can be found in this section.

Farming Gil Guide
In Final Fantasy XIV, farming in the right spots using the right techniques can be very profitable
for players. While crafting may provide more gil per hour, farming does not require the
expensive and time-consuming process of leveling up all of your Disciplines of the Hand nor
does it require you to build a separate gear set. As a farmer, you just have to use your Discipline
of War or Discipline of Magic class to find the items you need.
The farming section will be split into three parts: group farming methods, best solo farming
spots, and farming spots by level. Group farming methods are the most profitable, but have the
downside of requiring a group. The best solo farming spots will highlight three great farming
locations for players at level 50 (though some may be suitable for lower level players). The
farming spots by level will detail a variety of farming spots to give players of all levels options
for farming.
Note on Price Fluctuations
The efficiency of any farming spot depends on your server's current prices for goods. One day
Aldgoat horns may be worth 800 gil, another day they may be worth 150 gil. The effectiveness
of each farming location will inevitably rest upon the whims of the server's markets.
One way to counter these fluctuations is to farm beyond your current level of Market Board
slots. You can store the valuable ingredients and selectively sell the ones that are near the high
end of their natural price fluctuation. This is not necessary but can maximize profits.
If you do not spend too much time farming, just check the current prices on the Market Boards
before you head out. The real benefit of this strategy is that when prices for certain items
plunge, so does the competition at farming spots. With no competition, you can farm much
faster and save those items for a time when prices rise. A more entrepreneurial option is to buy
up these items when the prices sink (more on that in a later chapter).
Below, we will jump into both our solo farming guide and our group farming guide. We will start
with our solo farming guide and then go into group farming options. The solo farming locations
are broken down by level and have no gear requirement (though better gear and higher level
will yield faster farming). They can be undertaken by players that meet the level requirement
and can be farmed for as briefly or as long as you like.
Group farming opportunities are currently among the most profitable gil-making methods in
the game, but require a max level character with great gear along with great group to pull off.
As a result, we will cover both strategies below.

FFXIV Solo Farming Guide
Solo farming locations involve farming enemies at specific camps out in the game world largely
in an effort to collect crafting supplies. You can farm these enemies to sell their drops for gil on
the Market Boards. Even better, you can farm these enemies and use their drops for your own
crafting in order to make even more gil on the process.
While farming generally pays less gil per hour than crafting, you only have so many Market
Board slots available to sell items. If you have time to play, want to make gil, and have few open
market slots, it makes sense to farm the ingredients for your crafting rather than just buying
them off the Market Boards. The time you spend farming will allow you to make extra gil while
your items currently on the market sell.
The guide below will be broken down into level ranges, though level 50 players can easily farm
at the level 25 camps. The level range suggestions are just what is required to kill the enemies
at each camp.
A Note on Farming Below Level 25
If your top level character is less than level 25, do not worry about farming for now. You can get
all the gear you need from quests to hit level 25 - you should not have to buy anything off the
auction house. If you want to make some gil before level 25, your best bet is to just head to
Gridania and join the Botanist's guild. You can run outside of town and start harvesting Wind
Shards which go for 40-50 gil each. It is an easy way to make ~25k gil per hour without any gear
right from level 1.
Farming Locations - Levels 25 & Up
Below, you will find a list of farming spots that can be tackled by players starting at level 25. The spots
are listed in order of effectiveness.
Spot #1: Boar Hides & Treant Sap
Target Enemy: Wild Boar, Diseased Treant
Target Drop: Boar Hide, Treant Sap
Location: The Bramble Patch (north of The Hawthorne Hut in East Shroud)
Farming Route (enclosed in red):

8 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Comments/Notes:
Treant Sap is used by Alchemists and has some value, although sell rates are low. Do not flood
this market with this as otherwise you might crash the price. Boar Hides have virtually unlimited
demand and as a result are priced quite nicely.
There will sometimes be competition for this camping spot since Boar Hides are such an in-
demand item. Most players do not realize Treant Sap is actually worth something too.
Spot #2: Aldgoat Horns and Hides
Target Enemy: Myotargus Nanny, Myotargus Billy
Target Drop: Aldgoat Horn, Aldgoat Skin
Location: Near Camp Drybone (Eastern Thanalan)
Farming Route (enclosed in red; recommended route in blue):
9
9 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Comments/Notes:
Aldgoat Horns are the real prize here. They are used to make Horn Glue by Alchemists. Two
horns are required for a single Horn Glue. Horn Glue is a very popular reagent so there is high
demand for these horns. There are plenty of potential Aldgoats in this area so competition
should not be much of an issue (though you should expect some competition).
The recommended route is drawn in blue, but competition may force you to pick up the 7
spawns in the southern corner. There are 20-25 total Aldgoat spawns, so there is enough for
several farmers simultaneously (though ideally you get it all by yourself).
Spot #3: Blue Landtrap Leaf Farming
Target Enemy: Kedtrap
Target Drop: Blue Landtrap Leaf
Location:
Farming Route (enclosed in red):
10
10 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Notes/Comments:
Blue Landtrap Leaves are used to make Growth Formula Gamma by Alchemists. While there are
not many Kedtraps in the farming area and the drop rate is so-so, there usually are not many
leaves on the Market Boards. If you want to sell Growth Formula Gamma (the HQ version of
which requires little else other than a single leaf and often sells for ~3k gil), sometimes you
have to farm your own leaves.
Alternatively, you can buy leaves slowly as they come available on the market boards, but you
can rarely find more than 20-30 reasonably priced leaves at once. If you want to sit down and
make a few hundred Growth Formula Gamma, you often have to go out and farm your own. I
have sold stacks of 99 of this formula for 200k gil.
If you are a high level player and can out-kill the respawn rate, consider killing the Wind Sprites
in the area as you go. The extra Wind Crystals will generate an extra ~8-10k gil per hour. Not
much, but it does add up.
Farming Locations Levels 40 and Up
Below, you will find a few great new farming spots that can be tackled by players levels 40 and
up.
11
11 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Spot #1: Diremite Web (note: players can start this at level 35)
Target Enemy: Banemite
Target Drop: Diremite Web, Diremite Sinew
Location: West of Fallgourd Float
Farming Route (enclosed in red):
Notes/Comments:
Diremite Webs are a valuable drop used by weavers to make Dew Thread (which is used in
Velveteen cloth). Diremites will drop up to 3 webs from a single kill, which makes up for the
relatively low drop rate.
Spot #2: Raptors
Target Enemy: Velicoraptor
Target Drop: Raptor Skin, Raptor Sinew
Location: East of Camp Overlook (Outer La Noscea)
Farming Route (enclosed in red):
12
12 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Notes/Comments:
Raptor Skin is needed to make Raptor Leather, a key material in many level 45-49 equipment
pieces. The Raptorskin Merchant's Belt (best in slot crafting belt) uses Raptor leather, which
keeps demand for skin high. A few of the level 50 pieces use Raptor Leather as well.
This camp is particularly profitable if Raptor Skin prices creep up to 350 gil+ (which they
sometimes do). Raptor Skins have a very high drop rate.
Note that Raptor Sinew is actually quite valuable as well and is often worth more than Raptor
Skin. The drop rate of Sinew is much lower than the skin though, so the skin ends up being the
primary source of your profits with this farming method.
If you are a level 50 player with great gear, you can squeeze out a little more profit by killing the
Lightning Elementals that spawn around the Raptor camps to get a few Lightning Crystals here
and there.
Spot #2: Karakul
Target Enemy: Karakul
Target Drop: Fleece, Karakul Skin
Location: Coerthas
Farming Routes (enclosed in red):
Farming Route #1:
Farming Route #2:

Farming Route #3:
Farming Route #4:
14
14 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Notes/Comments:
Fleece is needed by Weavers to make wool, a key ingredient in many crafts. As a result, the
price for Fleece tends to be good. Note that there are multiple camps here for farming Fleece.
Players who have their Weavers leveled up may want to farm their own Fleece to maximize
profits from selling woolen yarn and cloth.
These are probably the most competitive farming spots in the game, as Fleece is often worth
500 gil+ and each Karakul can drop up to 3 Fleece from a single kill. Camps #3 and #4 are the
most efficient since the spawns are closest together, but they also seem to have the highest
levels of competition as a result.
Note that Karakul Skin has some value as it is used to make Lanolin, so do not throw it away. It
is not worth much, but you can generally sell a stack of 99 skins for ~9000 gil.
Farming Locations for Level 50 Players
Below are a few great farming spots that do best when players reach level 50. Due to the higher
level of the enemies, having some dungeon gear will significantly improve your farming speed:
Spot #1: Boar Hides
Target Enemy: Wild Hog
Target Drop: Boar Hide
Location: Urth's Gift
Farming Routes (encased in red):
Notes/Comments:
The higher level Wild Hogs have a better drop rate on Boar Skins than the level ~21 Wild Boars
mentioned earlier in the guide. Up to 3 Boar Skins can drop off a single enemy. Boar Skins can
15
15 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
be used by Leatherworkers to make Boar Leather, a highly in-demand leather (perhaps the
most in-demand leather). While most end-game recipes do not use this leather, Boar Leather is
used to craft a broad range of adventuring, gathering, and crafting gear that is used from levels
30-45 (and often players ride all the way to 50).
Since this farming spot is really good, competition tends to be high. There are enough spawns
here to support two different players farming, but if there are 3-4+ people farming here, pick a
different spot.
Spot #2: Hippogryphs
Target Enemy: Hippogryph
Target Drop: Hippogryph Skin +1, Hippogryph Sinew +1
Location: Mor Dhona
Farming Routes (encased in red):
Comments/Notes:
This location's value depends on the current strength of the price of HQ Hippogryph Skin and
Sinew; the regular varieties generally are worthless, so research the price points before
committing to this spot.
Spot #3: Snurble Tufts
Target Enemy: Golden Fleece
Target Drop: Snurble Tufts
Location: The Burning Wall (Eastern Thanalan)
16
16 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Farming Route (enclosed in red):
Notes/Comments:
Snurble Tufts are needed to make Undyed Felt, a valuable Weaver cloth used by a variety of
end-game recipes. Generally Snurble Tufts are not a great farming spot as the price on these
tends not to support the low drop. However, if you are a Weaver and need Snurble Tufts and
there are not enough for sale, this is a good camp to know about.

Group Farming Methods
At level 50, if you have good gear, you can make a massive amounts of gil with your Discipline
of War or Magic class by farming dungeons. Of course, some of these methods require a pre-
made group and sometimes good equipment. Below, we will discuss the two best methods for
earning gil if you want to team up with a partner.
Method #1: The Wanderer's Palace or Amdapor Keep Speed Runs (Pre-formed
Group Required)
Earnings Potential: 90-204k gil/hr, depending on server prices and dungeon choice.
Note: Requires excellent equipment (all ilvl 70 / ilvl 90 mix) to perform at top speed
Auriana, the NPC in Revenant's Toll, sells crafting materials for 125 Tomestones of Philosophy.
These items included Coke, Potash, Animal Fat, and Peacock Ore amongst others. These
ingredients are used to craft high end equipment, and as a result, these items tend to be very
valuable. Farming Tomestones to buy and then sell these ingredients is a great way to make
money. The Wanderer's Palace and Amdapor Keep each provide 100 Tomestones of Philosophy
for completing the dungeon run.
The Wanderer's Palace Method
With the proper equipment and gear, The Wanderer's Palace represents the fastest possible
Tomestone of Philosophy farming method. With mostly ilvl90 gear, it can be cleared in as little
as 10 minutes.
The strategy involves using a healer and tank (all healing/tanking classes are fine) in conjunction
with 2 DPS. The two DPS must be Bards and/or Black Mages. Ideally, you will use at least 1 Black
Mage. With this high level of equipment, the tank can pull multiple packs of enemies at once
and gather them all together. The Bards and Black Mages can then use AoE attacks to burn
down the clustered enemies. White Mages can use Holy as well to boost the damage.
To speed up this run, you can lock out one full pull on the way to the first boss. Kill the Tonberry
guarding the door and then sleep all the enemies. Run in and pull the boss; after 15 seconds,
the gate will go up and all the enemies you slept will be locked out.
Here is a video demonstrating the full run and this lock-out technique:
18
18 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi6TUplUuoM
Amdapor Keep Method
If you happen to play a DPS class other than a Black Mage or a Bard, you can still make good gil
by farming Amdapor Keep. Speed runs of this dungeon with well-geared players can be
completed in under 20 minutes. Here is a good video guide:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shyVdxNWjVc
The Amdapor Keep speed run is a lot easier to pull off than the The Wanderer's Palace speed
run and provides more Tomestones of Mythology in the process.
Expected Rewards
You cap out at about 300 Tomestones of Philosophy per hour in Amdapor Keep and about 400-
600 Tomestones of Philosophy in The Wanderer's Palace (depending on skill level). This equates
to 2.4 items per hour for AK and 3.2-4.8 items per hour for WP.
The amount of gil you make will depend upon the current selling prices of Tomestone items. On
my server, Tomestone items have settled in at 35,000-40,000 gil each, which would put AK at
84,000-96,000 gil per hour and WP at 112,000-192,000 gil per hour. When you consider each
run will also net about 2000 raw gil, this boost the numbers to 90k-102k for AK and 120k-204k
gil per hour for WP. As it stands now, this is one of the most profitable methods in the game to
make gil.
Method #2: Selling Titan Runs
Note: Requires excellent equipment (all ilvl 70 / ilvl 90 mix) to perform at top speed
Earnings Potential: 200k+/hr, depending on speed at which you can find customers
A group of experienced, geared, and coordinated players consisting of 1 healer, 1 tank, and 3
DPS can take down Titan without a problem. Even players with so-so gear can take down Titan
with two healers. The end result is that there are 2-3 open slots in a group that can kill Titan.
Enterprising individuals can then sell these open slots to players who want to be carried to their
relic weapon.
19
19 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Some players who have not thought things through entirely criticize this practice as "immoral"
and "unethical". The truth however though is that most customers of runs like this have already
killed Titan in a regular group and are coming through for their second or third relic weapon on
an alt. Rather than suffer through another pick-up group, a seasoned player knows that this
often takes dozens of attempts for new players to kill. Legitimate Titan groups typically form
inside linkshells and Free Companies, so seasoned players who cannot get a guild run will often
turn to buy rather than suffer through a pick up group.
Running Titan in a pick-up group is notoriously painful. Even though I killed Titan in a group like
this, back when we learned it, it still took several hours for all the players to get on board. I can
make 150k-300k gil in an hour - I would much rather pay a group for a kill and make up the
money in an hour of crafting.
Players like this represent a great way to make gil. If you can sell 2 runs an hour and fill up 2-3
slots each run, each player in your group will pull in a fast 250,000 gil. Not a bad way to make
some fast money!
Group Farming Summary
If you can get a group together and have enough time to play to do at least a few runs, doing
speed runs of dungeons or farming Titan can be a great way to make some extra gil. However,
not everyone has the gear to do these runs, the time to commit to getting a group, or even
wants to run dungeons. There are actually some methods in the game for making even better
gil than this. As a result, the gil guide does not end here and instead continues on with this as a
launching point.
20
20 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Why We Skip Gathering
For me, Gathering was a bit of a disappointment. Leveling it up is extremely time consuming,
yet the reward at level 50 does not match the effort it takes to get there. You will make little
more gil at level 50 with mining or botany than you can at level 40 or even 30.
The rarest items like Gold Ore which only spawn once in awhile will sell for a bit more (around
300-350 gil each). However, you can only extra a maximum of 25 of this ore per hour - a measly
7500-10000 gil. While 10000 gil for mining a single node sounds good, the truth is it takes time
to run out to the location and can only be mined once per hour. Its often better gil to just sit
where you were at and keep mining away.
Grinding Gil
Gathering as Mining or Botany amounts to little more than grinding for gil. You can pick up 5 or
6 stacks of an item (stacking to 99) in an hour. The most in-demand items tend to sell for
around 30-35 gil each when the market is saturated, 40-50 gil each when the market is neutral,
and rarely spiking up to 100 gil each when the market is depleted.
However, even when the market is at its peak, that only amounts to about 50,000-60,000 gil
per hour - not a bad rate, but not nearly as much as you can earn from crafting or group
farming. Some of the solo farming spots even bring in more gil than that when market
conditions are good.
Skip Over Gathering
All professions can benefit from the ability to gather crystals, as occasionally a particular crystal
type dries up, making it very expensive to try to purchase ingredients on your own.
As a result, do not bother with leveling up your gathering classes if you have not already. Stick
to farming or crafting if you want to make gil. Let others do the gathering as it currently is not
worth the time investment.
If you are worried about the gil investment required to level up crafting, I have that covered in a
later section. Trust me - skip gathering for now.
Where Gathering Shines
The real purpose to leveling up Discipline of the Land professions is to gather ingredients for
crafting professions when they are in short supply on the Market Boards. In particular, it is very
useful for a Culinarian to gather uncommon ingredients via fishing or botany. Alchemists too
21
21 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
will end up using some fish and botany ingredients that otherwise are not common on the
market boards.
If you ever find yourself in desperate need of materials and there are none for sale, just head
over to a database site like xivdb.com and look up the gathering spots. I do not want to
dedicate any more time to gathering in this guide since it is largely a waste of time.

Crafting Guide Crafting is by far the most efficient way to make gil in Final Fantasy XIV. The downsides to
crafting are that it takes a large amount of gil in order to level up multiple crafts to 50 and even
more to max out their gear with materia.
How the Guide Works
In order to make gil off of crafting, you have to make hiqh quality (HQ or +1) versions of items.
Regular syntheses typically are losses (the ingredients cost more than the final product) and
only HQ items typically are worth gil. Even the regular syntheses that make gil just do not make
enough gil to be worth your time.
We will focus exclusively on making HQ items for the crafting gil guide. Fortunately, even low
level recipes can make decent gil when crafted into HQ form and not many classes.
In order to establish what you need in order to reliably HQ items, each craft's guide will have 3
sections: easy, moderate, and difficult:
"Easy" recipes generally require the class you are using to 50 plus Culinarian to level 37. This
gives you access to "Steady Hand II", a key skill for making any HQ item reliably.
"Moderate" recipes generally require the class you are using to be level 50 plus Carpenter to
level 50 along with Culinarian to 37. Getting 50 Carpenter gives you access to "Byregot's
Blessing", a key skill for making an HQ item with a higher quality score. You will also want a
minimum of 300 Craftsmanship, 300 Control, and 312 CP, something easily achieved by getting
your blue level 50 tool and the level 50 HQ green set for your class (only about 75k gil for the
whole thing). You will need HQ max level jewelry as well. No materia is required. All in all your
gear set will run around 100-150k depending on profession.
"Difficult" recipes generally require 50 Alchemist, 50 Weaver, 50 Carpenter, 37 Culinarian, and
15 Blacksmith. The craft you are using needs to be level 50 as well. You will also need 340
Craftsmanship, 340 Control, and 370 CP. The 340 Craftsmanship/Control requires a decent
amount of materia investment. Getting up to 370 CP will require some materia plus food (HQ
Cawl Cennin adds 30 CP).

General Crafting for Gil Strategies
Since taking up crafting, I have been able to generate millions of gil using the following
strategies:
Providing the Picks
There is an old business anecdote drawn from the California gold rush that states that it was
not the miners that got rich during the gold rush but rather the people selling the picks to the
miners.
This is a valuable lesson and has contributed to a large portion of the gil I have made through
crafting. In particular, I am talking about equipment for gathering classes. Rather than try and
make gil from mining or botany, it is much more profitable to sell HQ armor, jewelry, and tools
to miners and botanists!
I have found that gear levels 20-45 is the most profitable for the average crafter. This is the
level where you can guarantee an HQ without too many cross class skills and the gear slots still
sell at a decent price. You can make gil off of the level 50 items too - it just requires a lot of
cross class skills and good gear to guarantee the HQ with non HQ items. Using HQ materials can
make it easier, but will eat into your profit margin.
I have found that low level crafting gear can sell for anywhere from 3k to 20k gil for a single
item slot. The costs for materials generally ranges from 1k gil (for the 3k items) up to 4-5k gil
(for the 20k items). It is hard to beat making 10-15k profit off of a single craft that takes less
than a minute to complete!
Ingredients and Reagents
While typically not as profitable per craft as HQ gear, selling HQ reagents can provide you with
the most raw gil if you want to craft. Selling HQ leather, cloth, yarn, glues, oils, growth
formulae, ingots, rivets, and other reagents can add up to huge profits.
For typical reagents, you can expect anywhere from 400 gil to 1500 gil mark-up over the
ingredient cost if you make an HQ reagent. This may not sound like a lot of gil per craft, but the
reason that selling these materials works so well is because you can sell them in stacks of 5, 10,
20, or even 99.
As an example, I routinely sell stacks of 99 HQ Boar Leather and Horn Glue. Depending on
market conditions, I typically mark up each leather or glue by anywhere from 700 to 1000 gil
and sell these in stacks of 99. This means from selling a single stack of materials, I will make 70-
100k gil in pure profit!
24
24 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
The downside of course to this approach is the time investment - expect to spend 50 minutes of
time total to craft a stack of 99 HQ reagents. In that light, the profit range is only about 100k gil
per hour. However, this is something you can use while looking for a group or waiting for your
party to get together. You can piece together 10-15 minute crafting sessions here and there
and make a few extra hundred thousand gil throughout the week.
This practice is particularly useful when your market board slots are filling up with gear.
End Game Equipment and Materials
As a final point, you can sell HQ end-game gear and materials for profit. This is not my favorite
approach for two reasons:
Firstly, making end-game gear is the obvious way to make gil. Everyone leveling up their
crafting is thinking that they need to get to 50 to craft end-game sets to sell to players in order
to make gil. As a result, competition among these items tends to be high. It is easier to carve
out a niche of a few reagents, leathers, or gear slots on your server.
Secondly, you need to be able to reliably make HQ versions with regular ingredients. If you are
using HQ ingredients to make these high end slots, you are wasting gil and will not be making
very much profit. In order to craft 1 and 2 star items as HQ, you will need many cross class skills
as well as a good gear set. This is very expensive. If you are a newer player on a legacy server,
this is particularly expensive as many players already leveled up all their crafts to 50 in legacy.
As a result, I will be putting all of these sorts of recipes into the "difficult" section. If you have all
of the cross class skills and equipment you need, you can make these items, but it is not
necessary to make big gil with crafting.
How to Make HQ Items via Crafting
In the crafting gil guide, we will break down potential profitable syntheses into 3 categories:
easy, moderate, and difficult. The rotations below can be used to get guaranteed a guaranteed
100% HQ item with regular ingredients with zero chance of failure.

Craft Guides by Class
Now that you know the gear, class, and rotations required to make guaranteed HQ items with
non-quality ingredients, we will begin the class guide. In the sections that follow, I will list the
most profitable items to sell for each craft. The profitability of each craft depends on your
server's current prices.
A Quick Note on Maximizing Profits
Cherry pick the best recipes based on market conditions to maximize your profits. In the
sections that follow I will list ~100-150 profitable crafts and there are only 40 max Market
Boards slots.
In order to maximize profits and make the most out of each crafting effort, I have strategies
depending on whether it is a piece of equipment or materials/reagents. For equipment, rather
than just make 1 or 2 pieces to list on the Market Boards, I will make 10-12 at once. I will then
only list 1 or 2 (since there often are not 10+ buyers of HQ gathering gear or other equipment
on a daily basis). The rest I will put on my retainer.
When it comes to reagents and materials, I will typically synthesize two sets of 99. I will list one
set of 99 and keep the other set banked on the retainer. These stacks of 99 often take 24-72
hours to sell.
Eventually, you will end up with 20+ different types of HQ gear and reagents banked between
your two retainers. As items sell, you can then just go to your retainers and list the most
profitable items at the current time. It takes a few weeks of crafting to get to this point, but this
allows you to condense your gear crafting sessions into one or two hour blocks once or twice a
week. Each session will yield a few hundred thousand gil in profits, making crafting the most
profitable thing in the game for those few weekly hours.

Alchemy Crafting Gil Guide
Alchemist is a great profession for making gil. Most players overlook this profession since it
does not produce much in the way of level 50 gear, but the reagents it creates can be very
valuable.
In particular, high quality versions of glues, growth formulae, and oils can be often sold at a
large mark-up. Rather than just sell 1 at a time, sell them in stacks of 10 to 99 for big profits. I
have made well over 1,000,000 gil in a month just on Horn Glue - each syntheses only costs
500-700 gil with the resulting product selling for 1400 gil each. Selling two stacks of 99 a day for
~150k profit each is not unreasonable.
Let's talk recipes:
Easy Alchemist Recipes
Rubber
1x Water Shard, 1x Latex
Buy Latex from the Guild Supplier. Rubber is used by a variety of recipes, so demand is quite
high. The stacks of 99 sell very slowly, but stacks of 10-20 sell very quickly.
Fish Oil
1x Water Shard, 2x Princess Trout.
The secret to making gil off of this recipe is to buy Princess Trout off of the vendor in Limsa
Lominsa. The NPC is named "Holasfis" and is found near "The Aftcastle" aetheryte. Hard to sell
this one in stacks of 99 - stacks of 10-20 sell better.
Fish Glue
1x Water Shard, 2x Coral Butterfly.
Just like with Fish Oil, you can buy Coral Butterfly from a vendor. In this case, the Alchemist
guild supplier sells Coral Butterfly.
Beeswax
1x Water Shard, 3x Beehive Chip
Not my favorite item to sell, but it might be profitable on your server. Best for low level crafters
who are already selling other "easy" Alchemist recipes and have open Market Board slots.
30
30 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Growth Formula Beta
1x Water Shard, 1x Quicksilver, 1x Jellyfish Umbrella, 1x Rock Salt
The Jellyfish Umbrella and Rock Salt can be purchased off the Alchemist guild supplier. Do not
make the Quicksilver yourself but rather buy it off the Tradecraft Supplier NPC (in any row of
NPCs near the Market Boards) for 4 gil each - much cheaper than the shards required to make
your own Quicksilver! Selling HQ Growth Formula Beta is the most profitable "easy" Alchemist
recipe, although they sell fairly slow. Stacks of 5 to 10 sell best, though I have sold a stack of 99
before at about a 65k profit (~15k gil to make 99, selling price of ~80k).
Natron
2x Water Shard, 1x Effervescent Water, 1x Rock Salt
Natron is typically not extremely profitable for a single item, but it does sell regularly in stacks
of 99 since it has so many uses (perhaps Undyed Felt as the #1 use). Effervescent Water is
typically cheap off of the Market Boards.
Note that Natron is on the border between easy and moderate difficulty. If you are not able to
synthesize this with the regular rotation, consider gearing up more or using the "moderate"
rotation.
Crab Oil
2x Water Shard, 2x Megalocrab Leg
Crab Legs are fairly expensive off of the Market Boards and hard to get in large quantity.
However, Crab Oil also sells at a premium. It is hard to sell this in stacks of 99 - stacks of 5 to 10
work best.
Note that Crab Oil is on the border between easy and moderate difficulty. If you are not able to
synthesize this with the regular rotation, consider gearing up more or using the "moderate"
rotation.
Moderate Difficulty Alchemist Recipes
The moderate difficult Alchemist recipes is where most of the money in Alchemy lies. These
reagents are very valuable and often sell at a reasonable pace in stacks of 99 or sell in stacks of
10 at a high mark up.
31
31 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Clear Glass Lens
3x Water Shard, 1x Silex, 1x Natron
You will have to make your own Natron (or buy it - sometimes it is cheaper) as well as the Silex.
The overall reagent cost for this recipe is 400-500 gil. However, HQ Clear Class Lenses often sell
for 2k gil. I sell them in stacks of 10 and 99 (though 99s sell very slowly - often sitting 1 week).
Stacks of 5 move quick.
Linseed Oil
3x Water Shard, 2x Flax
Flax has to be bought off the Market Boards or harvested via Botany. Fortunately since Flax has
many uses, there is plenty on the Market Boards.
Horn Glue
3x Water Shard, 2x Aldgoat Horn
This is one of my favorite Alchemy recipes. While Aldgoat Horns have to be bought off the
Market Boards or farmed, they are typically available in large number. Horn Glue is used in a
large number of recipes and sells easily in stacks of 99.
Try and get Aldgoat Horns cheap. Farmers will often go out and list 6-10 stacks at once at a
huge discount. When I see horns listed at 250 gil or less, I will buy all of them, even if they are
10 stacks up. I avoid Aldgoat Horns when the prices rise to 500+ gil, as this kills the profit
margin on Horn Glue.
Growth Formula Gamma
3x Water Shard, 1x Quicksilver, 1x Rock Salt, 1x Blue Landtrap Leaf
This recipe is one of the most profitable Alchemy recipes on a per synthesis basis. You can often
get Landtrap leaves for around 400 gil each, while stacks of 5-10 of this will sell for 2000-2500
gil. You can expect to pay around 5k to craft 10 of these but then also expect to sell those 10 for
20-25k, netting you 15-20k gil in the process.
Be careful with competition on this one though - if someone decides to go out and farm 200+
Blue Landtrap Leaves, the price on Growth Formula Gamma can rapidly tank. Landtrap Leaves
are hard to farm, so this recipe tends to remain valuable.
32
32 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Lanolin
5x Water Shard, 1x Karakul Skin
HQ Lanolin sells well in stacks of 99 since leveling Alchemist like to buy it to turn in for the
repeatable leve. The biggest barrier to making this craft profitable is the cost of Water Shard.
Karakul skins are usually very cheap since people like to farm Karakul for Fleece, a much more
in-demand item than Lanolin.
Check the prices on the Market Boards accordingly before acting on this one. You need HQ
Lanolin to be retailing for 900+ gil to make this one worthwhile. This is not always the case, so
be careful.
Shark Oil
5x Water Shard, 1x Hammerhead Shark, 1x Silver Shark
Getting enough sharks is often problematic if you are relying on the Market Boards, but this
items does sell decently in stacks of 5 or 10. If you can fish your own sharks at a decent rate,
you can make some gil off of this recipe.
Difficult Items
Mega Potion of Strength
5x Lightning Shard, 6x Water Shard, 1x Sagolii Sage, 1x Shark Oil, 1x Rock Salt
Mega Potion of Dexterity
5x Lightning Shard, 6x Water Shard, 1x Spoken Blood, 1x Dart Frog, 1x Rock Salt
Mega Potion of Vitality
5x Lightning Shard, 6x Water Shard, 1x Rock Salt, 1x Grenade Ash, 1x Pudding Flesh
Mega Potion of Intelligence
5x Lightning Shard, 6x Water Shard, 1x Sandworm Fang, 1x Rock Salt, 1x Black Scorpion
Mega Potion of Mind
5x Lightning Shard, 5x Water Shard, 1x Blue Yarzon Leg, 1x Rock Salt, 1x Ahriman Wing
Sell these potions in maximum size stacks. Players running end-game dungeons will buy this
somewhat regularly. These potions are popular amongst those running The Binding Coil.
Vitality is the most useful, but also requires Pudding Flesh, a very expensive reagent. The only
way to get it seems to be getting a lucky drop off of the Frozen Bavarois in "Necrologos:
33
33 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Cinerary Rites". I expect a new jelly/blog NPC will be added to the game in a future patch to
make getting this reagent easier.
Budding Rosewood Wand
6x Lightning Shard, 6x Water Shard, 1x Mega Potion of Mind, 1x Rosewood Branch, 1x Growth
Formula Gamma, 1x Spoken Blood
The HQ version of this wand is needed to complete the Alchemist level 50 quest. Crafting this in
HQ form is hard before getting the end-game crafting weapon, so you can sell this wand to
people looking to complete the quest. It sells fairly quickly and for a nice mark up to people
trying to complete this quest. It rarely sells to actual players looking for a weapon since it is so
close to level 50, where a better item can be purchased for a similar cost.
Enchanted Gold Ink
3x Water Crystal, 3x Gold Sand, 1x Spoken Blood
You can "cheat" with this one by getting HQ Gold Sand, typically a very cheap item. HQ
Enchanted Gold Ink is used to craft some of the end-game equipment, so consider selling it
stacks of 5 to 10 if you can make it.
Growth Formula Delta
3x Water Crystal, 1x Quicksilver, 1x Rock Salt, 1x Trillium Bulb
Trillium Bulbs can be purchased off of the Market Boards (limited spawn Botany item). Just like
with Gold Ink, try selling this in stacks of 5 or 10.
Sample Master Alchemist Market Board List
If you are a level 50 Alchemist capable of synthesizing "Difficult" items with normal quality
ingredients, you can select any number of items from the previous list to sell in its high quality
form for profit. Below, you will find a sample of what your 40 Market Board slots could look like
as a high level Alchemist. This is just a sample and does not include items from other crafts.
Note that the best combination for your server will involve items from several different crafts in
order to maximize the value of your Market Board slots. This is not necessary as you can still
make plenty of gil listing items as shown in the chart below.
Note: The expected mark-up and total profit are just estimations. These may vary wildly from
server to server. This is just a sample chart. All items are HQ - we do not sell normal items for
profit!

35 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
If you crafted and sold this theoretical inventory of 40 items, you would make about 1,000,000
gil. Granted, this would take hours to craft all these items. Typically, the "hard" items are more
profitable than the "moderate" or "easy" items and the stacks of 1-15 are more profitable on a
time-invested basis than the stacks of 99.
If you are trying to maximize gil per hour, then you will want to focus on selling stacks of 5-15 of
each item type. If you are trying to maximize total gil, then you will want to focus on selling
both stacks of 10 and 99.

Armorer Gil Crafting Guide
When I was creating this gil guide, I was blown away by sheer number of HQ items that the
Armorer can profit by crafting. You can easily take up all 40 market board slots with just
Armorer items without too much overlap. Armorer really shines for its vast array of "easy" and
"moderate" difficult syntheses. While its end game recipes may not be as valuable, it is perfect
for those looking for a way to make good gil off of crafting without investing too heavily into
cross class skills or end-game equipment.
While there are many Armorer recipes, I have found the most profitable belong to four
categories: Ingots & Rivets, Crafting Tools (Alchemist & Culinarian). and mid-level to entry-level
tanking gear.
All of the profitable recipes are listed below. I recommend picking ~20 gear slots and making 5-
10 of each item in HQ form. List 1-2 HQ items of each type and bank the rest on your retainer.
As your items sell, re-list them each day from your banked up item stores. If you want to spend
more time crafting, craft HQ ingots and Rivets and list one of each type in stacks of 99. Each
time a stack of 99 sells, you will make 50-100k profit (depending on market prices)!
Easy Difficulty Armorer Synthesis Recipes
Bronze Celata
1x Ice Shard, 1x Earth Shard, 2x Bronze Plate, 1x Bronze Rings
The first tank-only helmet in HQ form is a hot item for players leveling up a second class.
Warriors level up Paladin and Paladins level up Warrior for cross class skills. Also, many players
like a tank alt because tanks are so popular. As a result, this piece is a hot commodity. Note that
Smydhaemr NPC by the Armorer's guild sells Bronze Plates at cheaper price than making them
yourself.
Bronze Cuirass
1x Ice Shard, 1x Earth Shard, 2x Bronze Plate, 1x Bronze Rings
Players leveling up a tank class as an alt love this piece in HQ form since it can be used to tank
starter dungeons. Note that Smydhaemr NPC by the Armorer's guild sells Bronze Plates at
cheaper price than making them yourself.

Iron Ingot
1x Ice Shard, 3x Iron Ore
Sell HQ Iron Ingots in stacks of 10, 20, or 99. They sell at a nice mark-up.
Iron Rivets
1x Ice Shard, 1x Iron Ingot
Sell HQ Iron Rivets in stacks of 10, 20, or 99. They sell at a nice mark-up.
Iron Plate
1x Ice Shard, 2x Iron Ingot
Sell HQ Iron Plates in stacks of 10, 20, or 99. They sell at a nice mark-up. Make sure to charge
enough for them given that they cost two ingots - be careful not to undersell these.
You can often buy Iron Ingots on the Market Boards cheaper than you can make them yourself
in order to save some gil and time.
Iron Rings
1x Ice Shard, 1x Iron Ingot
Sell HQ Iron Rings in stacks of 99. These do not sell very quickly, but it can be nice to have just 1
stack of 99 sitting in your Market Boards slot if you have nothing else to sell.
Brass Alembic
1x Earth Shard, 1x Water Shard, 1x Amateur's Alembic, 1x Brass Ingot, 1x Bronze Rivets
The Brass Alembic in HQ form is the first crafting tool you can make that will generate some
good gil. You can buy Amateur's Alembics for 385 gil each from Yoyobasa in Ul'dah (Steps of
Thal). Similar cost to making them yourself and will save you some time.
38
38 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Iron Skillet
1x Ice Shard, 1x Earth Shard, 1x Iron Plate, 1x Ash Lumber
You can buy Ash Lumber off Smydhaemr at the Armorer's Guild for 43 gil, but it is sometimes
cheaper on the Market Boards. Regardless, even at 43 gil for Ash Lumber, this is a very
profitable recipe. You can typically sell this in HQ form for 4-5k gil.
Iron Hoplon
1x Ice Shard, 1x Earth Shard, 2x Iron Plate, 1x Elm Lumber
The Iron Hoplon is a very fast seller in HQ form as it is the first true tank shield iN FFXIV. You will
have to buy Elm Lumber off of the Market Boards.
Initiate's Skillet
1x Ice Shard, 1x Earth Shard, 1x Iron Plate, 1x Elm Lumber
HQ Skillets are always a popular seller. Culinarian is a popular job and getting it to 37 is required
to be an effective crafter.
Initiate's Alembic
1x Earth Shard, 1x Ice Shard, 1x Iron Plate, 1x Bronze Rivets
The HQ Initiate's Alembic is another popular item that is easy to HQ and tends to be quite
valuable.
Iron Lantern Shield
2x Ice Shard, 1x Earth Shard, 2x Iron Plate, 1x Tallow Candle
I find that HQ PLD/GLD shields tend to be particularly good sellers. This one is no exception.
Tradecraft suppliers sell Tallow Candles (look for it among the strips of merchants near Market
Boards) for 225 gil each.

Iron Alembic
2x Ice Shard, 1x Earth Shard, 1x Iron Plate, 1x Iron Rivets
Again, HQ Alembics are easy money for Armorers.
Iron Frypan
2x Ice Shard, 1x Earth Shard, 1x Iron Plate, 1x Yew Lumber
Again, HQ Frypans are easy money for Armorers.
Iron Scutum
2x Earth Shard, 2x Ice Shard, 2x Iron Plates, 3x Iron Rivets
This recipe requires a lot of iron, so make sure you can sell it for enough gil to justify the
expense (7k+ for the HQ). Usually you will have no issue getting this kind of gil for this item, but
make sure the market is not flooded.
Heavy Iron Armor
2x Ice Shard, 2x Earth Shard, 1x Brass Ingot, 4x Iron Plate
This heavy tanking gear that takes up two gear slots generally sells at a premium, at least as far
as low level equipment goes.
Heavy Iron Flanchard
2x Ice Shard, 2x Earth Shard, 3x Iron Ingot, 2x Iron Rings, 1x Aldgoat Leather
Premium tank gear like this sells at a great mark-up and moves quickly. Buy Aldgoat Leather off
the Market Boards. It is available for a very low price since Aldgoats are farmed heavily for their
horns.

Moderate Difficulty Armorer Synthesis Recipes
The recipes below require the rotation and gear set listed at the beginning of the crafting guide
for "Moderate" syntheses. Some of the early ones may be completed with lesser requirements,
but they are right on the border with easy, so use at your own risk if you do not have the
required gear or cross class skills.
Steel Ingot
2x Ice Shard, 2x Iron Ore, 1x Bomb Ash
HQ Steel Ingots are a great seller. Sell them in stacks of 10, 20, or even 99. Pick up Bomb Ash off
of the Market Boards. It is usually very cheap since it is can be obtained from mining plus drops
in large quantities from leveling leves (the Bomb-related ones).
Steel Rivets
3x Ice Shard, 1x Iron Ingot
Steel Rivets are a very popular seller as they are used heavily by Leatherworkers who often
cannot make their own rivets. Sell them in HQ form in stacks of 10, 20, or 99.
Conical Alembic
2x Earth Shard, 2x Ice Shard, 1x Iron Alembic, 1x Brass Ingot, 1x Iron Rivets

Tanking shields are always a great seller.
41
41 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Steel Plate
3x Ice Shard, 2x Steel Ingot
These are a slower seller, but its not a bad idea to put up a stack of 99 if you have extra market
board slots. It might take a week to sell, but if you have the open slots anyway, this is not a bad
idea.
Bomb Frypan
3x Ice Shard, 2x Earth Shard, 1x Steel Plate, 1x Yew Lumber, 1x Bomb Ash
You will have to buy the Yew Lumber off of the Market Boards. The Bomb Frypan is a very, very
good seller for Armorers. It is not hard to sell these rapidly for 7k+ gil.
Steel Rings
3x Ice Shard, 1x Steel Ingot
Like Plates, this is a slow seller, but a stack of 99 is not a bad item to list if you have open
Market Board slots and nothing else to sell.
Steel Skillet
3x Ice Shard, 2x Earth Shard, 1x Steel Plate, 1x Elm Lumber
Easy to make and very profitable as an HQ item.

The level 30 steel tanking set is very profitable for Armorers. Make the full set in HQ format and
list it.
Steel Plate Belt
3x Ice Shard, 3x Earth Shard, 2x Steel Plate, 1x Boar Leather
The level 30 steel tanking set is very profitable for Armorers. Make the full set in HQ format and

43

Silver Alembic
4x Ice Shard, 3x Earth Shard, 1x Silver Ingot, 1x Steel Plate, 1x Steel Rivets, 1x Eye of Fire
Buy the Eye of Fire and Silver Ingot off the Market Boards. As usual, HQ Alembics are a great
seller, and the Silver Alembic is no different.
Decorated Iron Scutum
4x Ice Shard, 3x Earth Shard, 1x Iron Scutum, 2x Iron Rivets, 1x Toad Leather
You can make your own Iron Scutum via Quick Synthesis and buy Toad Leather off of the
Market Boards. The ingredient and shard cost for this shield is ~1000-1500 gil, so make sure you
can sell it for 7k+ before attempting.
Heavy Steel Armor
4x Ice Shard, 3x Earth Shard, 1x Brass Ingot, 4x Steel Plate
A very popular item and a fast seller. Highly recommended to make this in HQ and sell on the
Market Boards.
Heavy Steel Flanchard
4x Ice Shard, 3x Earth Shard, 3x Steel Ingot, 2x Steel Rings, 1x Boar Leather
A very popular item and a fast seller. Highly recommended to make this in HQ and sell on the
Market Boards.
Vintage Hoplon
1x Ice Crystal, 1x Tarnished Hoplon, 1x Bronze Plate
Buy the Tarnished Hoplon off the Market Boards. Vintage items are typically very profitable
even though the tarnished/damaged items that they require sometimes get expensive.
44
44 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Mythril Ingot
4x Ice Shard, 3x Mythril Ore
Mythril Ingots in HQ form are one of the best sources of gil for the Armorer. Sell them in stacks
of 10, 20, or 99 at a big mark-up. You can often make 70k+ gil plus off a single sale if you sell a
stack of 99 and market conditions are favorable.
Mythril Rivets
4x Ice Shard, 1x Mythril Ingot
Mythril Rivets are big sellers for Armorers. Leatherworkers need them in large quantity for their
own crafts, making selling these an easy source of gil. Sell in stacks of 10, 20, or 99.
Steel Frypan
4x Ice Shard, 4x Earth Shard, 1x Steel Plate, 1x Oak Lumber
Steel Frypans are great sellers and easy gil for an Armorsmith. Buy Oak Lumber off the Market
Boards.
Vintage Celata
1x Ice Crystal, 1x Dented Celata, 1x Bronze Plate
Vintage items in HQ are typically a great way to make gil and this item is no different. Buy the
Dented Celata off the Market Boards.
Vintage Scutum
1x Earth Crystal, 1x Rusting Scutum, 1x Iron Plate
Tank Shields are a great seller as are Vintage goods, so an HQ Vintage tank shield is a home-run.
Usually can sell these at a 7k+ gil net profit - not bad for a single synthesis.
45
45 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Mythril Alembic
5x Ice Shard, 4x Earth Shard, 1x Steel Ingot, 1x Mythril Plate, 1x Mythril Rivets, 1x Eye of Earth
Buy the Eye of Earth off of the Market Boards. HQ Mythril Alembics are a great source of profits
as usual.
Vintage Scale Mail
1x Ice Crystal, 1x Blackened Scale Mail, 1x Iron Plate
Great DPS item. Usually I do not like to sell DPS gear slots since players tend to skimp on gear,
but this one is a great seller.
Mythril Cuirass
5x Earth Shard, 4x Ice Shard, 1x Electrum Ingot, 2x Mythril Plate, 1x Mythril Rings
You have to buy the Electrum Ingots off the Market Boards as this is the realm of Goldsmiths.
However, this next level tank piece sells at more than enough of a profit to make this synthesis
worth it.
Cobalt Ingot
5x Ice Shard, 1x Iron Ore, 2x Cobalt Ore
Great seller in HQ form. Useful for many high-end crafting recipes. Sell in stacks of 10, 20, or 99
for best results.
High Mythril Flanchard
5x Ice Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 3x Mythril Ingot, 2x Cobalt Rings, 1x Raptor Leather
This recipe is extremely profitable but is also getting a bit difficult for some Armorers in the
moderate range. If your gear or cross class skills are not quite up to par, you can still get a
guaranteed HQ if you make your own HQ Mythril Ingots to help boost your starting quality
score a bit.
46
46 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
High Mythril Armor
5x Earth Shard, 5x Ice Shard, 1x Electrum Ingot, 4x Mythril Plate
A very profitable yet very expensive synthesis option. This is borderline with advanced, but I
wanted to include it here since it is such a profitable craft. If you are struggling to HQ this, make
a few HQ Mythril Plates (which you can do easily) in order to make this more feasible.
Cobalt Skillet
5x Ice Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 1x Cobalt Plate, 1x Mahogany Lumber
A very cheap and affordable recipe, yet sells for 8k+ in HQ form at a decent rate. Buy Mahogany
Lumber off of the Market Boards.
Cobalt Rivets
5x Ice Shard, 1x Cobalt Ingot
Very profitable recipe. Leatherworkers need Rivets in large quantities, and Cobalt Rivets in HQ
form are desirable for near max level recipes for Leatherworkers who want to sell high level HQ
gear but do not yet have the prerequisite cross-class skills to make it 100% of the time.
High Difficulty Armorer Syntheses
These Armorer recipes require the gear and skill rotations recommended in the beginning of
the crafting guide for "Difficult" syntheses.
Vintage Kite Shield
1x Ice Crystal, 1x Scarred Kite Shield, 1x Siltstone Whetstone, 1x Aldgoat Leather, 1x Mahogany
Lumber
This is the last tank shield most tanks get before hitting level 50. In HQ form, it sells for a great
mark-up. The leather, lumber, and whetstone can be purchased off of the Market Boards as can
the Scarred Kite Shield.
47
47 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Mosshorn Scale Mail
1x Ice Crystal, 1x Iron Plate, 2x Mossy Horn
This is a great DPS and tanking piece given its high offensive stats and concurrently high
defense. One of the better items for non-tanking classes before 50. The Mossy Horns come out
of chests in The Aurum Vale, so look to purchase them off the Market Boards.
Armorer's Visor
3x Ice Crystal, 2x Earth Crystal, 1x Cobalt Plate, 1x Darksteel Plate, 1x Boar Leather, 1x
Hippogryph Leather
The Armorer's Visor is the best in slot HQ gear slot for Armorer. You will probably buy your own
at first to get the stats you need to make this HQ 100% of the time with normal quality
ingredients. After you can make it 100% HQ, you can sell it to other Armorer's at a big mark up.
Hamlet Digger's Helmet
3x Ice Crystal, 2x Earth Crystal, 2x Darksteel Nugget, 1x Rose Gold Nugget
The best in slot Mining helmet is a popular item to sell as an HQ. Sells quickly since players
looking to make gil off of level 4 materia will convert this item with some regularity. Buy the
Rose Gold Nugget off of the Market Boards.
Blacksmith's Workboots
3x Ice Crystal, 2x Earth Crystal, 1x Darksteel Nugget, 1x Hippogryph Leather, 1x Hippogryph
Sinew
HQ Blacksmith Workboots are valuable and easy to make. Since they are so easy to make, be
sure to make sure the market is not flooded before you make them.
Militia Cuirass
3x Ice Crystal, 2x Earth Crystal, 1x Darksteel Plate, 1x Cobalt Rings
As the introductory level 50 tank set, this gear sells quickly as more and more players level up
PLD and WAR to take advantage of the current lack of tanks at end game.
48
48 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Militia Gauntlets
3x Ice Crystal, 2x Earth Crystal, 1x Darksteel Plate, 1x Cobalt Rings, 1x Hippogryph Leather
As the introductory level 50 tank set, this gear sells quickly as more and more players level up
PLD and WAR to take advantage of the current lack of tanks at end game.
Militia Armets
3x Ice Crystal, 2x Earth Crystal, 1x Darksteel Plate, 1x Cobalt Rings
As the introductory level 50 tank set, this gear sells quickly as more and more players level up
PLD and WAR to take advantage of the current lack of tanks at end game.
Militia Sabatons
3x Ice Crystal, 2x Earth Crystal, 1x Cobalt Rings, 1x Hippogryph Leather
As the introductory level 50 tank set, this gear sells quickly as more and more players level up
PLD and WAR to take advantage of the current lack of tanks at end game.
Darksteel Nugget
3x Ice Crystal, 3x Darksteel Ore
Darksteel nuggets are used often in place of ingots, as ingots are used primarly for end game
crafting. As a result, HQ nuggets sell for a good mark up.
Darksteel Rivets
3x Ice Crystal, 1x Darksteel Nugget
Darksteel Rivets are used in a variety of end-game crafting pieces. As usual, rivets are a good
source of revenue. Sell Darksteel Rivets in HQ form in stacks of 5, 10, 20, or even 99.
49
49 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Darksteel Ingot
1x Ice Cluster, 2x Darksteel Nugget, 9x Coke
Darksteel Ingots in HQ form can be sold to those looking for Darksteel gear that are trying to
collect their own mats and tip out a crafter, or for crafters who are trying to HQ gear but lack
the ability to HQ 40 durability 2 star items on their own.
This item will sell slowly (perhaps taking a few days or more to sell), but often at 50-100k mark
up over the ingredient cost.
Darksteel Tassets
1x Ice Cluster, 1x Earth Cluster, 1x Darksteel Ingot, 2x Darksteel Plate, 1x Hard Hippogryph
Leather
Very expensive to make, but the HQ version will often sell for 50-100k over what it costs to
make.
Careful with the other Darksteel item slots, especially the tanking ones. While I love to sell
tanking gear while leveling, note that the Darksteel tanking gear offers significantly less defense
than the Darklight dungeon set, which is easy enough to get. It can be difficult to sell Darksteel
tanking equipment as a result.
Sample Master Armorer Market Board List
If you are a level 50 Armorer capable of synthesizing "Difficult" items with normal quality
ingredients, you can select any number of items from the previous list to sell in its high quality
form for profit. Below, you will find a sample of what your 40 Market Board slots could look like
as a high level Armorer. This is just a sample and does not include items from other crafts. Note
that the best combination for your server will involve items from several different crafts in
order to maximize the value of your Market Board slots. This is not necessary as you can still
make plenty of gil listing items as shown in the chart below.
Note: The expected mark-up and total profit are just estimations. These may vary wildly from
server to server. This is just a sample chart. All items are HQ - we do not sell normal items for
profit!

If you crafted and sold this theoretical inventory of 40 items, you would make about 600,000

Blacksmith Crafting Gil Guide
Blacksmith makes a variety of weapons, but it is not here where most of the profits lie. Rather
than weapons, the most profitable crafts for the blacksmith actually HQ tools for Discipline of
the Land and Hand classes.
High quality mining picks and crafting tools bring in great money; 1,000 gil in ingredients often
converts into single items worth 5,000-10,000 gil. However, low level tools do not typically
bring in much gil - only level 30+ items tend to have value.
As far as ingredients go, Blacksmiths can also do well by selling HQ ingots and HQ rivets of
various metal grades. Here are a list of profitable recipes:
Easy Blacksmith Synthesis Recipes

1x Fire Shard, 3x Iron Ore
HQ Ingots sell well in stacks of 10 to 99.

Difficult Blacksmith Synthesis Recipes
Blacksmith is one of the most profitable professions to have capable of producing end-game
items in high quality 100% of the time while using normal ingredients. The produce many level
55 offhand tools which are the best in slot. These tools can often be sold at a large mark-up.
62

The level 47-48 crafting tools are a harder sell (since they are replaced so quickly at 50), but the
Botany and Miner tools seem to sell well in this level range.
Cobalt Sledgehammer
5x Fire Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 1x Cobalt Ingot, 1x Rosewood Lumber, 1x Horn Glue
Should be easy money at this level, although they do not sell very quickly.
Horned Hatchet

Sample Master Blacksmith Market Board List
If you are a level 50 Blacksmith capable of synthesizing "Difficult" items with normal quality
ingredients, you can select any number of items from the previous list to sell in its high quality
form for profit. Below, you will find a sample of what your 40 Market Board slots could look like
as a high level Blacksmith.
All items are HQ - we do not sell normal items for
profit!

67 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
If you crafted and sold this theoretical inventory of 40 items, you would make about 452,000
gil. While this may seem lower than some of the other professions, note that the Blacksmith
primarily sells single items rather than stacks, so this number reflects significantly less time
spent crafting. Typically, the "hard" items are more profitable than the "moderate" or "easy"
items and the stacks of 1-15 are more profitable on a time-invested basis than the stacks of 99.
If you are trying to maximize gil per hour, then you will want to focus on selling stacks of 5-15 of
each item type. If you are trying to maximize total gil, then you will want to focus on selling
both stacks of 10 and 99.

Carpenter Crafting Gil Guide
I believe that Carpenter is the worst gil-making crafting class in Final Fantasy XIV. By default,
Carpenters have very few recipes compared to the other classes. Additionally, many players
have their Carpenter leveled up to cap as it is needed for Byregot's Blessing.
While Carpenters do have some options to make gil at level 50, there just are not nearly as
many as with other classes. You will be able to make gil, but you will struggle to populate an
entire 40 slots of the Market Board simultaneously with Carpentry goods.
The most profitable items for Carpenters include some types of HQ lumber, Goldsmithing and
Weaving secondary tools, and fishing poles. With that said, let's talk about the few recipes
which can be used to make decent gil:
Easy Carpenter Synthesis Recipes
Elm Lumber
1x Wind Shard, 3x Elm Log
HQ Elm Lumber in stacks of 10 to 20 is a decent seller at a decent markup.
Yew Lumber
2x Wind Shard, 3x Yew Log
HQ Yew Lumber in stacks of 10 to 20 is a decent seller at a decent markup.
Walnut Lumber
2x Wind Shard, 3x Walnut Log
HQ Walnut Lumber in stacks of 10 to 20 is a decent seller at a decent markup.
69
69 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Moderate Difficulty Carpenter Synthesis Recipes
Oak Lumber
3x Wind Shard, 3x Oak Log
HQ Oak Lumber is a good seller in stacks of 10 to 20. Generally sells at a better mark up than
Walnut, Yew, or Elm.
Walnut Fishing Rod
3x Ice Shard, 3x Wind Shard, 1x Steel Ingot, 1x Walnut Lumber, 1x Oak Branch
HQ DoH and DoL primary and secondary tools that are level 30+ are generally great sellers.
Walnut Spinning Wheel
3x Ice Shard, 4x Wind Shard, 2x Steel Rivets, 2x Walnut Lumber
HQ DoH and DoL primary and secondary tools that are level 30+ are generally great sellers.
Siltstone Grinding Wheel
3x Ice Shard, 4x Wind Shard, 1x Steel Ingot, 1x Siltstone, 1x Walnut Lumber
HQ DoH and DoL primary and secondary tools that are level 30+ are generally great sellers.
Walnut Pattens
3x Ice Shard, 4x Wind Shard, 1x Aldgoat Leather, 1x Undyed Velveteen, 1x Walnut Lumber
Velveteen is expensive, so make sure that you can get 7000 gil or more for this as an HQ before
you buy the cloth.
70
70 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Oak Pattens
4x Ice Shard, 5x Wind Shard, 1x Boar Leather, 1x Undyed Woolen Cloth, 1x Oak Lumber
In HQ format, these generally sell well. Make sure you do not overpay for the woolen cloth or it
might kill your profit margins.
Mahogany Lumber
5x Wind Shard, 3x Mahogany Log
Generally the best selling HQ lumber in my experience. You can sell this in stacks of 99. You will
always want to keep a stack of 99 HQ Mahogany Lumber up on the Market Boards if you are
only using Carpentry to make gil.
Mahogany Spinning Wheel
4x Ice Shard, 5x Wind Shard, 2x Mythril Rivets, 2x Mahogany Lumber
This generally sells well but sometimes the market can flood since there are only so many
potential buyers. The ingredients are somewhat expensive so be sure to check prices before
you invest a bunch of lumber and rivets. Note that you an generally buy regular quality
Mahogany Lumber on the Market Boards cheaper than you can make it yourself.
Garnet Grinding Wheel
5x Ice Shard, 5x Wind Shard, 1x Mythril Ingot, 1x Raw Garnet, 1x Mahogany Lumber
Typically the last stop for Goldsmith's on the way to level 50. It sells well and is cheap enough to
make, making it a profitable synthesis.
Difficult Carpenter Synthesis Recipes
While there were not many moderate level recipes and even fewer easy level recipes,
Carpenter has a few great recipes to craft at level 50 if you have the gear for some guaranteed
HQ items. These items tend to be profitable because while most players tend to hit 50
Carpentry, most do not gear out their Carpenters to the point where they can make 100%
guaranteed HQ versions of these items.
71
71 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Militia Grinding Wheel
2x Ice Crystal, 3x Wind Crystal, 1x Darksteel Nugget, 1x Astral Rock, 1x Spruce Lumber
Best in Slot secondary tool for the Goldsmith. Typically will sell at a 10k markup over what the
ingredients cost.
Militia Spinning Wheel
2x Ice Crystal, 3x Wind Crystal, 2x Cobalt Rivets, 2x Spruce Lumber
Best in Slot secondary tool for the Weaver. Typically will sell at a 10k markup over what the
ingredients cost.
Spruce Lumber
3x Wind Crystal, 3x Spruce Log
Spruce Lumber is needed for a variety of end-game syntheses. Players are willing to shell out
extra gil for HQ spruce since it will increase their chances of HQing this end-game gear.

If you crafted and sold this theoretical inventory of 40 items, you would make about 633,000

efficient use of time). Typically, the "hard" items are more profitable than the "moderate" or
"easy" items and the stacks of 1-15 are more profitable on a time-invested basis than the stacks
of 99.

Culinarian Gil Crafting Guide
To many player's surprise, Culinarian is perhaps the most profitable craft in the game. The
reason this is the case is due to five facts:
Food is more consumable than any other item produced by players. In other words,
there is a constant demand for players to buy food, whereas demand for other items is
much slower. A piece of food wears off after 30 minutes or after dying, whereas it takes
at takes at least a few hours to spiritbond a piece of equipment to 100%, convert it, and
then buy a new slot.
Food is used by players of all classes - all FFXIV players are potential customers of the
Culinarian.
Culinarian has the highest barrier to entry. It is the only craft to produce consumable
goods that are recipe level 70 (everyone else uses Tomestone of Philosophy items). In
other words, players will need to level up Carpenter, Weaver, and Alchemist to 50 (and
Blacksmith to 15) along with purchasing a very expensive set of equipment in order to
craft top tier recipes with 100% certainty.
Low competition since crafting food is not "sexy". Most players do not start out FFXIV
thinking they are going to cook food. Most Culinarians are former FFXI players who
knew just how profitable cooking could be in that game.
Culinarian is the best class for making level 4 crafting materia. Since its level 55+ recipes
sell so quickly, you can make these high level recipes to earn quick spiritbond points on
your level 50 crafting gear in order to convert it for a chance at level 4 crafting materia.
Culinarian suffers from one major problem: a lack of ingredients. It is particularly helpful for
Culinarians to level up Fishing, as there are often not enough reasonably priced fish of a given
variety on the Market Boards to craft a stack of 99 of a particularly useful food. Botany is useful
to a certain extent as well as sometimes rare ingredients are just not found in large enough
quantities on the Market Boards. An example of this is "Leeks", which are used in Cawl Cennin,
a very good crafting food that is easy to HQ.
Note that due to the Culinarian's fast selling speed, you can often list more than 2 stacks of a
popular food without worrying about crashing the market. You would never want to list more
than 2 stacks of something like Leather or Glue as you would be setting yourself up for
undercutting.

Easy Culinarian Synthesis Recipes
I will state outright that almost every food dish in HQ form will sell at a profit. Rather than list
every single food, I will single out a few particular foods in each. You can easily fill up all 40
Market Board slots with a variety of foods beyond the ones on this list and still make a profit.
Dried Prunes
2x Fire Shard, 1x Water Shard, 1x Pixie Plums
I like this recipe since it is a good crafting leveling food and the ingredients are very cheap. Not
hard to sell for 700 gil each in HQ form when the ingredients only run a combined 200 gil or
less.
Apple Tart
1x Fire Shard, 1x Water Shard, 1x Chicken Egg, 1x Faerie Apple, 1x Cinnamon, 1x Maple Sugar,
1x Smooth Butter, 1x Pie Dough
The ingredients are a real pain since you have to make a few of them (use Quick Synthesis), but
this is a popular food as a result. Sells at a good mark up and gatherer's love food with
+Gathering as it makes leveling up much, much easier.
Aldgoat Steak
2x Fire Shard, 2x Water Shard, 1x Aldgoat Chuck, 1x Garlean Garlic, 1x Table Salt
Great adventurer class leveling food. Super easy to make and Aldgoat Chuck is very cheap since
Aldgoats are heavily farmed for their horns for Horn Glue.
Raw Oyster
1x Fire Shard, 1x Water Shard, 1x Sun Lemon, 1xx Rothlyt Oyster
Commonly used early level crafting food. Finding enough oysters for sale can be an issue, but
the rest of the ingredients are very cheap. Sun Lemons have to be purchased as well from the
Market Boards.

Moderate Level Culinarian Synthesis Recipes
Baked Sole
3x Fire Shard, 3x Water Shard, 1x Cieldalaes Spinach, 1x Gil Bun, 1x Table Salt, 1x Black Sole
Common mid-level crafting food - sometimes used as the replacement for Raw Oyster amongst
leveling crafters.
Acorn Cookie
4x Fire Shard, 3x Water Shard, 1x Mineral Water, 1x Iron Acorn, 1x Rye Flour, 1x Table Salt
Acorn Cookies are a great mid-level tank food and are very cheap to make. Some end-game
tanks will even use the HQ variety given its low price and decent boost to Vitality and
mitigation.
Cawl Cennin
4x Fire Shard, 3x Water Shard, 1x Mineral Water, 1x Wild Onion, 1x Salt Leek, 1x Sweet Cream,
1x Smooth Butter, 1x Chicken Stock
This is my stealth HQ item that is worth a lot of gil yet is easy to HQ without significant
investment in end-game gear. It requires a lot of ingredients (most of which are cheap), which
turns a lot of players off.
When in HQ format, this item gives +30 CP. Players need 370 CP to make a guaranteed 100%
HQ of 2 star 40 durability items. Players can get up to 340 CP from gear, but need the 30 CP
from HQ Cawl Cennin to hit the guarantee.
The biggest limiting factor here will be getting enough Leeks. If you have Botany leveled up, you
can farm your own if there are not enough for sale.
If this item is not selling well on the Market Boards - you can always just make it for yourself to
use when crafting item level 70 items!

Knight's Bread
4x Fire Shard, 4x Water Shard, 1x Mineral Water, 1x Chicken egg, 1x Rye FLour, 1x Midland
Basil, 1x Honey
Much like with the Acorn Cookie, this is a cheap tanking food that tanks will burn since boosting
their HP and mitigation is often necessary for end-game success.
Difficult Culinarian Synthesis Recipes
Tomato Pie
6x Fire Shard, 5x Water Shard, 1x Cottage Cheese, 1x Wild Onion, 1x Ruby Tomato, 1x Midland
Basil, 1x Table Salt, 1x Pie Dough
This is the a very commonly used gathering food while leveling. Sells decently in stacks of 99, as
each player leveling up a gathering profession will generally want to purchase a stack of 99 food
to take them from 1 to 50.
Trapper's Quiche
6x Fire Shard, 6x Water Shard, 1x Cream Cheese, 1x Eft Tail, 1x Apkallu Egg, 1x Midland Basil, 1x
Nutmeg, 1x Pie Dough
This is a very good gathering food, but the ingredients are expensive. If you can find the right
buyer, you can make good gil, but double check to make sure the market is not saturated
before you drop a lot of gil on the ingredients.
Pan Fried Mahi Mahi
3x Fire Crystal, 2x Water Crystal, 1x Sunset Wheat Flour, 1x Table Salt, 3x Olive Oil, 1x Mahi-
Mahi
This is considered one of the top crafting foods in the game (but really players should be using
Cawl Cennin or Bouillabaisse). As a result, this sells for a hefty premium. The Mahi-Mahi
themselves can be quite expensive, so it is helpful to have fishing leveled up if you cannot get
enough at a reasonable price.

Bouillabaisse
3x Fire Crystal, 2 Water Crystal, 1x Desert Saffron, 1x Olive Oil, 1x Finger Shrimp, 1x Rothlyt
Oyster, 1x Razor Clam, 1x Dzemael Tomato
The best crafting food in the game in my opinion. Not much better than an HQ Cawl Cennin, but
most players do not realize that. Sell it in HQ form for big profits.
Sauteed Coeurl
1x Fire Cluster, 1x Water Cluster, 1x Garlean Garlic, Smooth Butter, 1x Coeurl Meat, 1x Cooking
Sherry, 1x Volcanic Rock Salt
One of the best DPS food choices. Players are using this in The Binding Coil. Expensive to make
but it does sell well if you can guarantee the HQ.
Black Truffle Risotto
1x Fire Cluster, 1x Water Cluster, 1x Cottage Cheese, 1x Wild Onion, 1x Black Truffle, 1x Sticky
Rice
Another top DPS food choice. This one works well for offensive casting classes as well. Players
are using this in The Binding Coil. Expensive to make but it does sell well if you can guarantee
the HQ.
Pineapple Ponzecake
1x Fire Cluster, 1x Water Cluster, 1x Apkallu Egg, 1x Prickly Pineapple, 1x Sunset Wheat Flour, 1x
Maple Syrup, 1x Night Milk
A very popular caster food. Players are using this in The Binding Coil. Expensive to make but it
does sell well if you can guarantee the HQ.

Lava Toad Legs
1x Fire Cluster, 1x Water Cluster, 1x Wild Onion, 1x Sunset Wheat Flour, 1x Midland Basil, 1x
Dragon Pepper, 1x Allagan Snail, 1x Lava Toad
Lava Toad Legs have accuracy, and players in The Binding Coil need accuracy. It also has
Vitality, so some tanks that are not at the accuracy cap may actually prefer this food over one
with mitigation.
Finger Sandwich
1x Fire Cluster, 1x Water Cluster, 1x Walnut Bread, 1x Apkallu Egg, 1x La Noscean Lettuce, 1x
Smooth Butter, 1x Volcanic Rock Salt.
Another great tanking food choice. Players are using this in The Binding Coil. Expensive to make
but it does sell well if you can guarantee the HQ.
Sample Master Culinarian Market Board List
If you are a level 50 Culinarian capable of synthesizing "Difficult" items with normal quality
ingredients, you can select any number of items from the previous list to sell in its high quality
form for profit. Below, you will find a sample of what your 40 Market Board slots could look like
as a high level Culinarian.
All items are HQ - we do not sell normal items for
profit!

If you crafted and sold this theoretical inventory of 40 items, you would make about 1,500,000

Goldsmith Gil Crafting Guide
Goldsmithing has the most recipes in the game, but many of them are not that profitable. Most
HQ DPS jewelry only sells for 1-2k mark up, not enough to be worth the time investment. In
order to maximize profits, we will need to hone in a few particular item types: ingots,
whetstones, crafting gear, and tools. Goldsmiths can be very profitable once they can make HQ
item level 55 items thanks to the profitability of militia gear and HQ Rose Gold Nuggets.
Easy Goldsmithing Synthesis Recipes
Fang Earrings
1x Fire Shard, 1x Wind Shard, 1x Brass Ingot, 1x Hard Leather, 1x Bat Fang
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.
Brass Wristlets of Crafting
1x Fire Shard, 1x Wind Shard, 1x Brass Ingot, 2x Brass Rings
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.
Brass Ring of Crafting
1x Fire Shard, 1x Wind Shard, 1x Brass Ingot, 1x Ragstone Whestone
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.
Mudstone Whetstone
1x Wind Shard, 2x Mudstone
Whetstones are used in a variety of syntheses for other crafts, making the HQ versions in stacks
of 10-99 very valuable.

Brass Choker
1x Fire Shard, 2x Wind Shard, 2x Brass Ingot, 1x Hard Leather
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.
Silver Ingot
2x Wind Shard, 3x Wind Shard
Silver is used by a variety of crafts, so Silver Ingots in HQ form generally have good resell value.
Horn Earrings
2x Fire Shard, 2x Wind Shard, 1x Silver Ingot, 1x Aldgoat Leather, 1x Antelope Horn
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.
Silver Wristlets of Crafting
2x Fire Shard, 2x Wind Shard, 1x Silver Ingot, 2x Silver Rings
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.

Moderate Goldsmithing Synthesis Recipes
Like with many crafts, there are a lot of opportunities in this range for Goldsmiths to bring in
large quantities of gil.
Siltstone Whetstone
3x Wind Shard, 2x Silstone
Siltstone Whetstones are used by a huge number of good recipes, so you can easily sell this in
HQ stacks of 99 for a huge mark-up.
Silver Choker
3x Fire Shard, 3x Wind Shard, 2x Silver Ingot, 1x Aldgoat Leather
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.
Worm Fang Needle
3x Fire Shard, 3x Wind Shard, 1x Siltstone Whetstone, 1x Wolf Fang
Level 30-45 Weaver tools in HQ form are a good source of gil for the Goldsmith.
Mythril Ingot
4x Wind Shard, 3x Mythril Ore
Mythril is a very popular ingot and can be sold for a great profit in HQ form. Sell in stacks of 10,
20, or 99.
Wolf Earrings
3x Fire Shard, 4x Wind Shard, 1x Mythril Ingot, 1x Boar Leather, 1x Wolf Fang
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.

Mythril Wristlets of Crafting
3x Fire Shard, 4x Wind Shard, 1x Mythril Ingot, 2x Mythril Rings
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.
Mythril Needle
4x Fire Shard, 4x Wind Shard, 1x Mythril Ingot, 1x Siltstone Whetstone
Level 30+ HQ Weaver Tools are a big seller and easy to make.
Mythril Ring of Crafting
4x Fire Shard, 4x Wind Shard, 1x Mythril Ingot, 1x Siltstone Whetstone
HQ crafting jewelry generally sells for a solid mark-up. Players leveling up their professions
rapidly convert their jewelry into materia, so there is a high demand for these items.
Basilisk Whetstone
5x Wind Shard, 1x Basilisk Egg
Basilisk Whetstones are a good seller since they are needed by other crafts. Sell in stacks of 10,
20, or 99.
Electrum Ingot
5x Wind Shard, 4x Electrum Ore
Electrum Ingots are needed by high level syntheses and can only be made by Goldsmiths. Sell in
stacks of 10, 20, or 99.
Red Coral Earrings
5x Fire Shard, 5x Wind Shard, 1x Electrum Ingot, 1x Boar Leather, 1x Red Coral
Red Coral Earrings sell very fast as high level crafters are constantly converting them to level III
materia. The only problem is a lot of players are used to this fast money, so you can only expect
to make ~3-4k gil at most on the HQ.

Thousand Needle
5x Fire Shard, 5x Wind Shard, 1x Basilisk Whetstone, 1x Cactuar Needle.
This is the last HQ Weaver tool that sells for a decent profit. After this, most Weavers hold out
for the level 50 quest item.
Difficult Goldsmith Synthesis Recipes
The per-profit sale on end-game Goldsmith crafts are somewhat low, but they sell much faster
than the other gear slots. Goldsmith also has a few profitable level 55 armor recipes. They also
have profitable materials at end-game.
Vintage Hora
1x Fire Crystal, 1x Chipped Hora, 1x Raptor Leather
This weapon typically serves Monks from 45 up until they get their first level 50 weapon. In HQ
format, it tends to be worth a nice mark-up.
Goldsmith's Turban
2x Fire Crystal, 3x Wind Crystal, 2x Rose Gold Nugget, 1x Rubellite, 1x Turquoise, 1x Undyed
Linen
This best-in-slot crafting helm is worth a solid mark-up when made as an HQ. Goldsmith's
purchasing their first one of these will not yet have the equipment to HQ this with 100%
certainty using normal ingredients, so you do not have to worry about not being able to sell to
Goldsmiths.
Blacksmith's Goggles
2x Fire Crystal, 3x Wind Crystal, 1x Darksteel Nugget, 1x Hippogryph Leather, 1x Undyed
Woolen Cloth, 1x Clear Glass Lens
This best-in-slot crafting helm is worth a solid mark-up when made as an HQ.

Alchemist's Monacle
2x Fire Crystal, 3x Wind Crystal, 1x Darksteel Nugget, 1x Rose Gold Nugget, 1x Boar Leather, 1x
Clear Glass Lens
This best-in-slot crafting helm is worth a solid mark-up when made as an HQ.
Militia Bracelets
2x Fire Crystal, 3x Wind Crystal, 2x Rose Gold Nugget, 1x Basilisk Whetstone
This best-in-slot gathering bracelet is quite profitable and sells quickly.
Militia Wristlets
2x Fire Crystal, 3xx Wind Crystal, 3x Rose Gold Nugget
This item requires a few thousand gil in ingredients, so make sure you are selling it for 9k+ if
you hope to make a good profit on it.
Aetheryte Ring
1x Water Crystal, 1x Rose Gold Nugget
This is the best-in-slot crafting ring and is very cheap to make. Definitely worth picking up in
order to make serious gil.
Rose Gold Nugget
3x Wind Crystal, 1x Copper Ore, 3x Gold Ore
Rose Gold Nuggets sell great in stacks of 10 to 20. They are used in a variety of end-game items,
so the HQ version is worth a great price.
Note that the level 70 recipes that require Tomestone of Philosophy crafting items can be
valuable too, but finding a buyer can take some time. The rings are particularly valuable, as
there are two ring slots. Even when players get Darklight they still want a crafted ring. For
certain players, these rings can even be better than Darklight, inflating the value of these rings.

Leatherworker Crafting Gil Guide
Leatherworker is among the most profitable crafts in FFXIV; I have made no less than several
million gil alone selling goods from this craft. In particular, you should focus mostly on mid to
end-game crafting and gathering gear along with HQ leather.
Easy Leatherworker Synthesis Recipes
I do not recommend spending too much time crafting low level items other than leather if you
goal is to make a lot of gil. You can make a few thousand gil here and there on some items, but
most of the profits will be in the moderate to high difficulty items.
Aldgoat Leather
1x Earth Shard, 1x Aldgoat Skin, 1x Alumen
Aldgoat Leather will sell in stacks of 10 all the way up to 99. You can generally pull in 1k mark-
up for small stacks and about a 500 gil per leather markup for stacks of 99.
Toad Leather
2x Earth Shard, 1x Gigantoad Skin, 1x Alumen
Gigantoad Leather is also a great seller in stacks of 10 all the way up to 99. It is difficult to find
large quantities of Gigantoad Skin in high quantity though - consider farming some yourself if
your Market Board slots are full. Alternatively, keep an eye out for Gigantoad Skin and buy it
when you see it cheap. Do not sit down to craft until you get a a full stack of 99 of this leather -
just gather it slowly off the Market Boards at cheap prices until you get enough.
Moderate Leatherworker Synthesis Recipes
Toadskin Jerkin
3x Wind Shard, 3x Earth Shard, 1x Iron Ingot, 3x Toad Leather, 1x Undyed Cotton Cloth
This has a few thousand gil worth of ingredients, so make sure you can sell it for 9k gil or so
before making this item.
92

Toadskin Culottes
3x Wind Shard, 3x Earth Shard, 2x Toad Leather, 2x Undyed Velveteen
This has roughly a 5,000 gil cost to make, so make sure you can sell it for 10k gil or so or it is not
worth making. The market often gets unintentionally flooded with these.
Boar Leather
4x Earth Shard, 1x Boar Hide, 1x Alumen
Boar Leather is used in so many recipes. As a result, this is the most popular and most
profitable mid-level leather (only HQ Hippogryph leather will generate more gil - a very difficult
item to make).
Fingerless Boarskin Gloves of Gathering
3x Wind Shard, 4x Earth Shard, 1x Steel Rivets, 1x Aldgoat Leather, 2x Boar Leather
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.
Vintage Shepherd's Belt
1x Earth Crystal, 1x Cracked Shepherd's Belt, 1x Boar Leather
A favorite item of mine to sell. The Cracked Shepherd's belt can cost as much as 2-3k gil, but it is
worth it given how quickly this belt sells for 7-8k. I will make 20 of these in 10 minutes, bank
them, then list them slowly over the next week. For about 15 minutes of total effort, I end up
making ~70k gil.
Boarskin Crakows of Gathering
3x Wind Shard, 4x Earth Shard, 1x Steel Ingot, 1x Boar Leather, 1x Hippogryph Sinew, 1x Rubber
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.

Boarskin Wristbands of Gathering
4x Wind Shard, 4x Earth Shard, 1x Boar Leather, 2x Blue Coral, 1x Horn Glue
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.
Vintage Chef's Belt
1x Earth Crystal, 1x Frayed Chef's Belt, 1x Boar Leather
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.
Boarskin Shepherd's Belt
4x Wind Shard, 4x Earth Shard, 1x Mythril Ingot, 2x Boar Leather
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.
Peiste Leather
4x Earth Shard, 1x Peiste Skin, 1x Black Alumen
This mid-level Leather will sell in stacks of 99 at a good profit, but expect it to move a lot slower
than Boar Leather. It does not have nearly as many cross-class implications as Boar Leather and
is used in a very narrow level range before being replaced by Raptor Leather.
Peisteskin Crakows of Gathering
4x Wind Shard, 4x Earth Shard, 1x Mythril Ingot, 1x Peiste Leather, 1x Hippogryph Sinew, 1x
Rubber
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.
Boarskin Ring
4x Wind Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 1x Boar Leather, 1x Woolen Yarn
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.

Vintage Smithy's Gloves
1x Wind Crystal, 1x Blackened Smithy's Gloves, 1x Boar Leather, 1x Diremite Sinew
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.
Boarskin Tool Belt
4x Wind Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 1x Mythril Rivets, 2x Boar Leather
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.
Boarskin Survival Belt
4x Wind Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 1x Silver Ingot, 2x Boar Leather, 1x Undyed Linen
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.
Vintage Thighboots
1x Earth Crystal, 1x Mildewed Thighboots, 1x Iron Rivets, 1x Raptor Leather, 1X Diremite Sinew,
1x Rubber
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no exception.
Boarskin Culottes
4x Wind Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 2x Boar Leather, 2x Undyed Woolen Cloth
Mid to high-level gathering and crafting gear is very profitable. This item is no expception. Be
careful to sell this for at least 10k gil as the Woolen Cloth, Boar Leather, and shards typically
runs about 5000 gil.
Raptor Leather
5x Earth Shard, 1x Raptor Skin, 1x Black Alumen
I have found Raptor Leather to be a slow seller in stacks of 99, but stacks of 10-20 move at a
decent clip. Focus on Boar Leather first. Raptor Leather tends to be cheap since players want to

synthesize this to help aid spirit bonding for materia rather than just wanting to sell the HQ for
profit.
Boarskin Jerkin
5x Wind Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 1x Silver Ingot, 3x Boar Leather, 1x Undyed Woolen Cloth
This item sells well in HQ since it is needed for a Leatherworking class quest. Most players
completing the quest will not have the gear required to make this in HQ form 100% of the time
with normal ingredients. As a result, you can sell it to players looking to power through the LW
quest for a big profit!
Raptorskin Choker
5x Wind Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 1x Raptor Leather, 1 Raptor Sinew
This item is actually the best-in-slot gathering necklace. In HQ form, it should sell at a nice
mark-up. The fact that it is easy to craft will make up for its low sale price.
Difficult Leatherworker Synthesis Recipes
Leatherworkers have a huge range of recipes to choose from at level 50 when you get to the
point where you can make these items with 100% certainty with normal quality items.
Leatherworkers can make a fortune off of the mid-level items alone; this can be used to help
generate enough profits to fund gear to make these difficult recipes.
Fingerless Raptorskin Gloves of Gathering
5x Wind Shard, 5x Earth Shard, 1x Cobalt Rivets, 1x Boar Leather, 2x Raptor Leather
This is the last stop on the way to the level 50 set for miners and botanists. As a result, it sells
for a nice mark-up.

Raptorskin Merchant's Purse
5x Wind Shard, 6x Earth Shard, 1x Mythril Ingot, 1x Raptor Leather
This is actually the best-in-slot belt for crafting classes. In HQ form, it sells for a big mark-up. It is
easy enough to make so the total sale price is not high. Do not let this fool you as it costs little
to make and sells quickly.
Raptorskin Ring
6x Wind Shard, 6x Earth Shard, 1x Raptor Leather, 1x Raptor Sinew
This is actually the best-in-slot ring for gathering professions. It sells very quickly in HQ form.

Hard Hippogryph Leather
1x Earth Cluster, 2 Hippogryph Leather, 9x Animal Fat

Sample Master Leatherworker Market Board List
If you are a level 50 Leatherworker capable of synthesizing "Difficult" items with normal quality
ingredients, you can select any number of items from the previous list to sell in its high quality
form for profit. Below, you will find a sample of what your 40 Market Board slots could look like
as a high level Leatherworker. This is just a sample and does not include items from other
crafts. Note that the best combination for your server will involve items from several different
crafts in order to maximize the value of your Market Board slots. This is not necessary as you
can still make plenty of gil listing items as shown in the chart below.
Note: The expected mark-up and total profit are just estimations. These may vary wildly from
server to server. This is just a sample chart. All items are HQ - we do not sell normal items for
profit!

105 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
If you crafted and sold this theoretical inventory of 40 items, you would make about 560,000
gil. While lower than some of sample sheets from other crafts, the time investment and rate of
sale is also much lower to craft all of these items.

Weaver Gil Crafting Guide
While Weaver can make a variety of profitable syntheses, you will make the bulk of your gil if
you focus on crafting high quality yarn, thread, and cloth along with top-tier crafting gear.
While you can make some decent gil by making mid-level crafting and gathering gear, I find that
the thread and cloth markets are so lucrative that I would rather skip over these recipes. As a
result, feel free to make some of the mid-level equipment for a ~5k mark-up. However, the HQ
yarns and cloth often sell at a 1-2k mark-up each and can be stacked up to 99, so I will focus on
those below.
Easy Weaver Synthesis Recipes
Cotton Yarn
1x Lightning Shard, 2x Cotton Boll
Despite being low level recipes, cotton cloth and yarn are used throughout the game, making
HQ stacks of these items often valuable.
Cotton Cloth
1x Lightning Shard, 2x cotton Boll
Despite being low level recipes, cotton cloth and yarn are used throughout the game, making
HQ stacks of these items often valuable.
Dew Thread
2x Lightning Shard, 2x Diremite Web
While Diremite Webs are expensive, you can often make this item for about 800 gil and sell the
HQ version for 2000 gil. It sells in stacks of 10 to 99 with regularity.
107
107 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Undyed Velveteen
2x Lightning Shard, 1x Dew Thread, 1x Cotton Thread
Like Dew Thread, this item sells for a big mark-up over its ingredient cost. Do not use HQ Dew
Thread to make this item but rather regular Dew Thread; HQ Dew Thread is worth too much in
its own right to throw it away on making HQ Velveteen as Velveteen is easy to HQ with normal
quality Dew Thread.
Moderate Weaver Synthesis Recipes
There are many crafting and gathering item slots here that sell at a decent mark-up. You can try
these if you like and may be able to eek out some decent gil on these items. I prefer to focus on
the raw materials as it is easier to manage and ultimately results in larger profits.
Linen Yarn
3x Lightning Shard, 2x Flax
HQ linen yarn is cheap to make and sells well. The cloth generally sells better than the yarn, so
keep that in mind.
Undyed Linen
4x Lightning Shard, 2x Linen Yarn
Easy to make, relatively inexpensive, yet quite valuable in HQ form. Sell in stacks of 10 to 99.
Woolen Yarn
4x Lightning Shard, 2x Fleece
Sells well in stacks of 10 to 99. Fleece is expensive, but HQ Woolen Yarn is even more expensive
and is used by a variety of recipes in-game.
108
108 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Undyed Woolen Cloth
5x Lightning Shard, 2x Woolen Yarn
Undyed Woolen Cloth is used in a huge variety of recipes and as a result has no problem selling
in large stacks.
Undyed Felt
5x Lightning Shard, 2x Fleece, 1x Snurble Tufts, 1x Natron
Undyed Felt is used in numerous end-game crafting gear sets. As a result, it can easily sell in
stacks of 99 for 100k+ profit for the single stack for the Weaver that sells it!
High Difficulty Weaver Synthesis Recipes
Weaver is able to make multiple best in slot crafting gear pieces as well as some very valuable
end-game thread. There are many options for a Weaver to make gil at end-game:

Sample Master Weaver Market Board List
If you are a level 50 Weaver capable of synthesizing "Difficult" items with normal quality
ingredients, you can select any number of items from the previous list to sell in its high quality
form for profit. Below, you will find a sample of what your 40 Market Board slots could look like
as a high level Weaver.
All items are HQ - we do not sell normal items for
profit!

If you crafted and sold this theoretical inventory of 40 items, you would make about 900,000

Tricks and Tips for Making Gil
While crafting, farming, or selling Titan runs are the best methods for making gil in FFXIV, the
strategies outlined in this section can help you make even more gil via tactics you might not
have thought of before. Here, we will cover everything from making gil while leveling to
balancing undercutting with profitability.
Make A Million Gil While Leveling Up
Rather than just farm enemies or level up a new class while making zero gil, you can combine
both activities. This way, you get to make plenty of gil while leveling up a brand new character
class in FFXIV.
In order to maximize profitability, you generally want to farm enemies that are a few levels
lower than you when possible so that you can kill them quickly and still get some experience
points. Here is the leveling path with farming routes outlined:
Levels 1-16: Level up regularly - grinding till 8 then FATEs & grinding to 16.
Levels 16-23: Aldgoat Farming:
Start in the north route outlined in blue; once you hit level 22, head down to the southern tip.
The Aldgoats down there are all level 18, so they will offer better experience points. Sell the
Aldgoat Horns and Skins for big profits. A stack of skin sells for ~9000 gil and a stack of horns
117
117 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
will sell for ~30k gil. You can easily wind up with 100-200k gil in profits by the time you hit level
24.
Levels 23-27: Boar & Treant Farming
The low level boars still drop Boar Hide (a very valuable drop). Treant sap also has decent value,
but is a slower seller.
Levels 27-29: Kedtrap & Wind Sprite Farming
Blue Landtrap Leaves sell very well and are very profitable. The Kedtraps are somewhat spread
out, so you can speed up your leveling time by hitting nearby Wind Sprites. If you want to
maximize gil, ignore the Wind Sprites and just level up off of the Kedtraps.
118

Levels 29-36: Diremite Web Farming
This is an excellent farming spot with many Banemites to farm. The Diremite Webs that these
drop can sell for up to 40k a stack.
Levels 36-45: Fleece Farming
Start off in the bottom right corner as the Karakul here are only level 35-36. Once you hit level
40 or so, move up to one of the northern spots:
119
119 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
These two camps have level ~38 Karakul and spawn closer together, improving the farming and
leveling speed. The only problem is there is usually a lot of competition at these spots. The
Fleece the Karakul drop is very valuable though, so farming here can be very lucrative. If you go
all the way from 36 to 45 here, you can easily net 500k+ in Fleece! It will take quite a few hours
to do all that grinding, but you will be a gillionaire by the time you hit 50!
120
120 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Levels 45-46: Snurble Tufts
Usually not the best item to farm, but the Golden Fleece here are right in your level range and
are not aggressive. You might want to try jumping right over to the boar camp below at 45, but
if it is too hard, get an extra level here before moving over.
Levels 46-50: Boar Hide
Plenty of spawns over here, and plenty of Wild Hogs to farm for Boar Hide. Going from 46 to 50
can easily result another 500k+ gil worth of materials.
If you farm from 16-50 in this manner, not only will you have a brand new class at 50, but you
will make over a million gil in the process.

How to Balance Undercutting with Profitability
One of the biggest challenges players face is whether not to undercut competitors and if so, by
how much. Whenever a player buys a particular item, they are going to choose the lowest price
version of that item. Why would they pay more for something they can get for less? If you
never readjust your prices, you will find that your items will take forever to clear the Market
Boards (if they even sell at all). On the other hand, if you keep lowering the price of your item,
you will make less profits when it finally does well.
Note that if you follow this guide, you will often be selling anywhere from 10 to 30 different
item types at once. If you are constantly going back and forth between your retainer to adjust
prices and the Market Boards to check prices, this will soak up an incredible amount of time
and cut into your profits.
Rather than always undercut or always leaving your items alone, I recommend taking a
balanced approach between the two that minimizes the time invested in pricing your items.
The first few times you sell your items, check out the Market Price. Eventually, you will know
approximately what that item is worth on your server. List the items at that price and let them
sit for 12-24 hours. After that time, if you still have unsold items (probably about 1/3 of your
items will sell), you can lower the price by 10%. Do not even bother to check the items again as
this is a waste of time.
Let another day pass and you will find after the 10% price cut, about half of your original items
will have sold. Cut the prices of the remaining items by another 10k and replenish the sold
items with new crafts. Each day, repeat this process. All items remaining at the end of each day
should have their price cut by 10% whereas items that sold should be replaced by new ones at
the "high end" range of that particular item. Once you have established a rhythm, you will sell
about half of your items each day as long as you are listing them initially at market value.
This ensures you sell about 20 items per day (if you are using all your slots). At anywhere from
4k profit (for mid-level gear recommended in the guide) to 100k profit (for a stack of 99 HQ
crafting materials), you will make anywhere from 80k-500k gil per day off of your Market Board
slots at a much faster rate than you would through farming or gathering alone.

Reselling NPC Vendor Items
Buying items off of miscellaneous NPCs and then selling them on the Market Boards is a time
honored tradition and a great way to make extra gil if you are otherwise not using your auction
slots. If you ever have empty retainer slots and no plans to craft or farm in the near future, look
to buy some of the items below and list them to take advantage of all your retainer slots. Do
not buy more than a few stacks of each item on the list, as otherwise it may take a long time for
them to sell:
Tradecraft Supplier
In each major city in the market district, there is an NPC called the "Tradecraft Supplier" which
sells a variety of key tradecraft ingredients. Purchasing and reselling goods from this vendor is
surprisingly profitable. Practically any item can work here and can be resold for a profit, so
check your server's prices and act accordingly. Here are my favorite 5 items for this purpose:
Chicken Breast: Used to make Chicken Broth. Kind of expensive at 52 gil a piece, but generally
can sell for ~150 gil. Put up 1-2 stacks off 99 Chicken Breasts and you will pull in 9-10k for each
stack that sells. Easy gil.
Quicksilver: Used to make many Alchemy recipes. Can be purchased for just 4 gil each then
resold for 20+ gil in a stack of 99.
Fish Oil: Used in many recipes; most players think this is an Alchemy-only item and do not
realize it is available from this vendor.
Sour Red: Used in cooking recipes; many players have no idea where this item comes from
since it is not available from the Culinarian guild supplier.
Lowland Grapes: Sells often for a small profit since it can be consumed as food for the 3%
experience point bonus for consuming food.
The Whistling Miller
The Whistling Miller is a shop marked on the map in Old Gridania. The NPC inside named
"Littlejohn" sells Rye Flour for 2 gil each and Sunset Wheat Flour for 4 gil each. You can
purchase a stack of 99 for 200-400 gil and resell for 2000-3000 gil per stack. These items are not
available from any other vendor.

Make Extra Gil By Converting Gear for Materia
While it takes a lot of work and a lot of gil investment to be able to make difficult level
syntheses as an HQ 100% of the time, it is even more profitable than it looks at face value due
to converting armor for materia. If you can get item level 55 pieces (i.e. the green-quality
crafting gear) up to 100% spiritbond and then convert it into materia, you have about a 90%
chance to get level III materia and a 10% chance to get level IV materia.
Since level III materia is worth about 10-20k each, when you get a tier 3 materia, you generally
break even. If you can get HQ pieces cheap enough or make your own, you will actually make a
few thousand gil profit for each piece you convert. However, that 1:10 shot where you get the
level IV materia, you make a huge amount of gil. These materia are 150-200k gil each (the
exception being the +4 CP one, which is only worth about 40-50k).
Tips to Boost Spiritbond Rate
Before discussing the specifics of the guide, you should know a few things about spiritbond:
Items with materia bound to them generate spiritbond faster and the rate of spiritbond
generation increases with each additional piece. This is substantial (about 20-25% or so
additional generation rate for each piece of materia).
As a result, even if you plan on converting an item eventually, bind cheap materia to it to speed
up the rate. This could be something as low as resistance materia level I. This stuff is usually
worthless since it has no other purpose, but buying this cheap materia for a few hundred gil a
piece can speed up spiritbond times significantly.
Also, know that high quality items gain spiritbond at about a 33% faster rate than non HQ
items. You will want the extra stats provided by these HQ items anyway, but do not be tempted
to try and build spiritbond on cheaper non HQ items to save gil - this is a waste of time given
the slowness.
While adding materia and wearing HQ gear is the most important aspect of building spiritbond,
the Free Company trait that increases spiritbond gain and the Aetheryte Ring that increases
spiritbond gain both help some as well. However, the Free Company bonus is not required and
you should be wearing the Aetheryte Rings anyway as they are best in slot.

Problems with Farming Crafting IV Materia
While this sounds good on paper, it runs into two problems:
If you convert your gear, you lose the materia inside. If you want to make this profitable,
you have to use cheap materia or not use materia at all on your target pieces. If you
spend a lot of money on crafting materia to make crafting high level items easier and
then you sell those pieces, you are out of luck.
You only earn spiritbond on high level gear while crafting high level recipes; you will
need to craft level 40+ recipes to get any spiritbond at all on your equipment. This is
tough to do profitably without great gear.
Fortunately, there is a solution, albeit expensive. If you invest the gil, you can set it up so you
have "best in slot" materia melds for rings, bracelets, necklace, earrings, and belt. These 6 slots
alone will get you to where you need to be to craft level 43-45 recipes nearly 100% of the time.
Recommended Materia Melds for Rings, Bracelets, Necklace, Earrings, and Belt
Aetheryte Ring x2: Control +3, CP +3, Craftsmanship +4, Control +1
Militia Wristlets: Control +4, CP +4, Craftsmanship +4, CP +2
Red Coral Fang Earrings: Control +3, CP +3, CP +3, Craftsmanship +3
Electrum Necklace: Control +3, CP +3, CP +2, Craftsmanship +3
Raptorskin Merchant's Purse: Control +3, CP +3, Control +2, Craftsmanship +3
The Easy Option: Crafting Level 43-45 Stackable Items
These level items do provide spiritbond, at about 1/3 the rate of level 50+ items. This means
you can craft things like Undyed Felt (Weaver), Raptor Leather (Leatherworker), or Tomato Pie
(Culinarian) and get spiritbond for conversion purposes. If you go this route, you will be able to
convert your off hand, your hat, your chest piece, your pants, your boots, and your gloves!
This works great, but it means you can only craft these mid level 40 items. You will not be able
to reliably craft HQ gear. However, given that these items generally sell at about ~700 gil mark
up for each HQ, it is not bad at all. Let's do some math:
Using HQ items and 2 pieces of Materia, it takes about 250 syntheses to hit 100% spiritbond. At
about 100 syntheses an hour, that is about 2.5 hours of work to max out spiritbond using this
method. You can then convert 6 pieces. Out of those 6 pieces, you will get about 1 level IV
materia every other time. This means you will get 1 piece of level IV materia every 5 hours.
125
125 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
If the average price of level IV materia is about 120k gil (the 50k CP +4 materia weighs down the
average), using this strategy will net you about an extra 25k gil an hour. Given you can make
70k gil per hour crafting HQ items, this extra 25k gil pushes the strategy up to 95k gil per hour -
a solid rate for just crafting. Remember this is something you can do at any place with as little
or as much time as you have.
Making it More Profitable: The Level 50+ Items
In order to get all the way to where we need to be to craft 80 durability difficult items 100% of
the time along with crafting 40 durability items about 90% of the time, we will need to use
Materia on two of our slots.
In particular, the off-hand and chest piece are both able to accept a large amount of materia.
The off-hand can handle a large amount of control and CP, while the chest piece can easily max
out craftsmanship. Here are the recommended melds:
Offhand: Control +4, Control +4, Control +3, CP +3, Craftsmanship +3 (in theory this
could be +6, but I do not think the investment here in anything beyond Craftsmanship
+1 is worth it since it has a high chance to fail).
Body: Craftsmanship +6, Control +4, Craftsmanship +5, Craftsmanship +5, Control +1
The good news is that with some cheap materia bound on HQ crafting gear, it only takes about
100 syntheses to hit 100% spiritbond if you are using 1-star difficulty syntheses. I like to craft
things like HQ Rose Gold Nuggets, HQ Hippogryph Leather, HQ Twinthread, or HQ Darksteel
Nuggets.
You can craft a stack of 99 in about 1 hour, which will lead to 4 conversion attempts (hat,
leggings, gloves, boots). With about 1 tier IV materia every 10-12 items, we ca expect about 1
level IV materia every 3 hours. At 120k extra gil profit from this, you can expect to make an
extra 40k gil per hour from materia converting and this is a conservative estimate.
As an added bonus, you can typically get 1000+ gil mark-up for these 1 star materials.
Twinthread tends to offer the largest mark-up (at least on my server), but all are valid
strategies.
Imagine you can make a stack of 99 materials in about 1 hour (this is realistic - any more than
that is really pushing it). This will net about 90-100k in profits, depending how successful you
are getting the HQ. Then, add 40k extra gil per hour on top of that for materia converting. Now
we are talking about earning 130-140k gil per hour from crafting materials! This rivals speed
126
126 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
runs from WP in great gear and does not require a group and is way more relaxed. You can use
macros (as discussed below) to make this a mindless activity.
Consider on top of that you will make even more gil per synthesis when crafting HQ item level
55 and level 70 pieces and it is easy to see why crafting is the best way to make gil in game.
Culinarian - The Ultimate Materia Farmer
Culinarian is the best job for using this materia-farming strategy. Since many foods are item
level 55 or even item level 70, there are many cheap syntheses that provide large amounts of
spiritbond points. You will get spiritbond very fast by synthesizing the item level 70 foods!
You can some extra gil by farming in the level 50+ spots while using Militia or Imperial
Operative gear pieces. You can use the bracelets and necklace (along with other green item
level 55 pieces) to build up spiritbond while farming level 45+ enemies. You can then convert
these into materia for a sizable profit. If you get a good level IV materia, this can amount to a
very large sum of gil. This can help improve farming speeds at level 45+ enemy camps, making
them potentially more lucrative than farming Karakul for Fleece (which are too low level to
provide significant spiritbond to item level 55 pieces).
127
127 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
Farming DoW and DoM Level III and IV Materia
Level IV materia are notoriously difficult in Final Fantasy XIV. At the same time, these materia
are highly desired by players looking to maximize their DPS or healing output by using the
crafted item level 70 sets. Due to high demand and low supply, the price for these materia is
astronomical.
In order to get tier IV materia, your only option is to convert 100% spiritbond item level 55+
gear. Given the reality that dungeon drops are non-convertible (i.e. cannot be turned into
materia) and item level 70 crafting gear is very expensive, the only option available for getting
tier IV materia is to convert item level 55 gear.
Item level 55 gear has about a 1/10 (maybe 1/12 - I do not have an exact number) chance to
turn into level IV materia. The rest of the time it will turn into level III materia. Even Tier III
materia tends to be worth good gil (more than the converted item costs), so no matter what,
you will generate a profit from converting this equipment.
The question then becomes.. how do we efficiently build spiritbond on item level 55 gear? That
is actually the easy part..
Purchase & Equip Select Item Level 55 Items
In order to get these materia, you are going to have to purchase and equip select item level 55
pieces. The only way to get spiritbond on this gear is to wear it after all.
The trick to making this work is to equip pieces that do not have many stat points allotted
them. The difference between a Hero's or Allagan neckpiece and a Militia Neckpiece is actually
not very substantial. The difference between an item level 55 chestpiece or leggings and their
item level 90 counterpart is massive.
Here is a quick list of the best items to use for this purpose. Jewelry, wrist, and belt slots are
preferential to gloves, helms, and boots, which are preferential to chestpieces and leggings:
Bard/Monk/Dragoon Gear
Imperial Operative Wristlets
Imperial Operative Choker
Militia Barbut
Militia Caligae

When to Wear the Gear And How Much to Equip
The fastest place to build spiritbond is actually in dungeons. Taking down level 50 enemies in
Amdapor Keep or The Wanderer's Palace with item level 55 gear will rapidly build spiritbond. At
the same time however, if you are running around with a bunch of green gear, you will bring
down your group.
There are two keys to making this work: equip item level 55 gear that has a minor impact on
your overall stats and only equip as much gear as you can get away with without interfering
with the group.
In order to minimize impacts on your performance, only equip gear that does not impact your
overall statline very much. First, always use HQ gear - it builds spiritbond faster and provides
stats not far off from Darklight. Going from Darklight or AK gear into item level 55 gear is hardly
a downgrade. There is almost no noticeable difference going from a Hoplite Necklace to an HQ
Militia Choker.
Next, only equip as much gear as you can "get away with". What I mean by this is if you outgear
your group mates, you can equip more pieces. For example, my Bard has multiple pieces of AF2,
a Relic +1, and an Allagan piece. If I am running a dungeon with a tank that is just in Darklight
gear, I will not be able to go all out in DPS without pulling threat. As a result, I can afford to
equip 3 or 4 pieces of item level 55 gear since my threat is limiting my DPS. This could be the
129
129 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
difference between 450 and 480 Dexterity, but if the tank can only handle a Bard with 420
Dexterity, there is no reason not to downgrade equipment.
The same goes for other classes. If you are a Healing class and your party is never in danger of
dying, equipping a few item level 55 pieces is not going to make a big difference. If you are a
Paladin with 7k HP or a Warrior with 8k HP, even in speed runs you can likely get away with 1-2
pieces of item level 55 gear without your tanking ability suffering in any meaningful way.
On the other hand, if your group outgears you, you should only equip jewelry/belts with item
level 55 gear, since these have a minimal impact on statline. Do not equip item level 55
helmets, gloves, or boots if feel like your stats are holding back your performance in your
group. This is not fair to your groupmates.
Wearing Gear While Farming
Wearing item level 55 gear in Amdapor Keep or The Wanderer's Palace is primarily for players
who are already wearing a decent amount of AF2 or Allagan. Players who are still gearing up
can still take advantage of this strategy by wearing this item level 55 gear while farming. When
farming, you might as well go ahead and equip all the slots recommended above because there
is no one around to complain if you have not maxed your stats.
While your farming speed may slow slightly from using this equipment, the difference between
your best DPS gear is not very significant when fighting level ~45 enemies. The extra money you
make from materia will more than make up for a slightly slower farming speed.
In order to get spiritbond at a decent rate, you will want to tackle level 45+ enemies. Try the
Wild Hogs at Urth's Gift southeast of Quarry Mill in South Shroud. These drop Boar Hides in
large number so they are already good farming. The extra Materia will only make this farming
area even more profitable.
Tips for Increasing the Effectiveness of this Strategy
Always Use HQ Items. HQ Items not only have better stats, but they generate spiritbond
significantly faster than non HQ items of the same type. The faster spiritbond rate more than
makes up for the extra cost of the HQ item.

Bind Cheap Materia to Items. If you have the professions leveled up needed to bind materia,
bind cheap materia (i.e. resist materia) to the item level 55 gear. Each piece of materia bound
to an item significantly speeds up its rate of spiritbond gain, speeding up your profitability with
this strategy.
Buy Multiple Item Copies. Prevent constant trips to the Market Boards by buying 3-5 of each
piece at a time and storing it in your Armory Chest. This way, as soon as you convert the item,
you have a back-up ready to go. This will minimize the amount of time you spend runnning
around with items at 100% spiritbond.
Make Extra Gear Sets. You will want to set up two extra gear sets for this strategy: one with
just 2 pieces of the low-impact item level 55 gear for running dungeons and one with all the
recommended item level 55 gear for farming purposes. This way, you can switch easily between
your high-end gear, your dungeon farming gear, and your solo farming gear.
Even though I am sure hundreds of players may ultimately engage in this strategy, only a
fraction of the playerbase will ever engage in this strategy and the demand for level III and level
IV materia is high. There is plenty of gil to go around for those that would put in the extra effort
to farm materia, so take advantage of this strategy!

Crafting, Macros, and You
When crafting, most players prefer to use macros. You can macro the entire crafting process so
that as soon as you start a craft, you press one button, wait 25 seconds or so, then press the
next button. This helps make crafting a stack of 99 materials way easier to handle. You can craft
this way while watching TV or a movie in the background on your PC.
Here is a site that will build your macros for you:
http://xiv-macro.appspot.com/
Just drag the skills in the order you want them. You can use the rotations listed in the crafting
guide, but your individual skill choices might vary slightly if you do not have the required cross-
class skills or the right amount of gear.
Now, you can craft any item in full by just pressing 2-3 buttons and the crafting process will
take care of itself. There is a limit to how many lines of code can be in a macro, so you cannot
fit the entire thing into one macro if you it to work. Additionally, if you are lagging, you may
want to increase the wait time to 3-4 seconds rather than the default time, as if you lag, the
macro will skip the next ability in line.
The Grey (but Profitable) Area: Programmable Macroing
I am just going to float this suggestion out there to you, but act on it at your own risk.
Since FFXIV is commonly played on PS3, many players have aftermarket "gaming pads" - i.e.
controllers with more features beyond a normal gamepad. Many PC gamers have "gaming
keyboards". These programmable controllers and keyboards can be programmed and set to
loop.
Imagine if you used the in-game macro system to set up your crafting so that you could do
everything in a few keystrokes. What if you were to program your controller or keyboard to
press the button for "start synthesis", wait a few second, then press the first button of your
macro, wait an appropriate amount of time, then press the second button for your macro?
When hitting "play" on the macro, it would complete the entire crafting process from start to
finish. If the macro were then set to loop, you could theoretically craft hundreds of HQ items all
on autopilot while you are away from the computer! You could also use a program like Mouse
Recorder (says free to download, but really costs $10 - no affiliation with me) to do the same
132
132 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
thing on the PC - have it record the entire crafting process from start to finish and then set it on
a loop.
The grey area is if this is considered botting or not. A programmable keyboard or controller is
not exactly a "third party program" like a true bot, but rather just executing the same otherwise
legal commands over and over again. However, this may be seen as botting so it is hard to say.
Botting is potentially a bannable offense, so use this tactic at your own risk. I do know many
players personally who are using this strategy to level up their crafts without using leves and to
craft large quantities of HQ items without the monotony that is crafting 100s of items in a row.
If you want to use this tactic and minimize your risk of getting in trouble, just monitor the
macro. Let it run while you watch TV or watch something in the background or on another
monitor. Keep an eye on the progress and stay at your computer or PS3. It can hardly be
considered botting if you are just using a programmable keyboard or controller to reduce the
amount of effort involved with crafting if you are sitting right there at the computer.

Gil Guide Overview - A Start to Finish Plan for Making
Gil From Crafting
So if you read through the guide, you should know that if you really want to get rich in FFXIV,
you are going to need to engage in crafting (or maintain a very, very well-geared character that
can do speed runs for Tomestone items). However, getting to the point where you can
profitably craft is easier said than done. Many players have already maxed out most of their
crafts during legacy, so it can be difficult. Here are the specific steps you can follow to get your
crafters maxed out
Step #1. Farm ~100k gil.
You can get your first 100k gil by following the farming spots outlined in the guide. If you are a
relatively new player, scroll up a few pages and check out the "Making a Million Gil" while
leveling section. You can also use the tradecraft supplier reseller trick to fill in your open Market
Board slots. Note - get your first two Retainers by completing some of the main storyline quest
and then talking to the Retainer NPC near the summoning bell near any Market Boards.
Even with the slower farming spots, you should still be able to pull in 50k an hour or so.
Diremite Web, Boar Hide, Aldgoat Horn, and Fleece farming all should pull in 50k+ gil an hour.
Farm for a few hours and you will have your 100k gil.
Alternatively, if you are already level 50, you can run dungeons for Tomestones of Philosophy
and then sell the dungeon drops
Step #2. Level up Culinarian to 37 and Leatherworker to 15.
With these crafts leveled up this high, you will be able to HQ any items listed as "easy" with any
crafting class above level ~45. Your first 250k gil can be used to help power level these crafts.
You will want to complete the repeatable leves primarily in order to level up. About 100k gil
should be all you need to hit 37 Culinarian and 15 Leatherworker (if you even need that much).
Step #3. Earn Another 500k Gil.
While you might have some gil leftover from leveling up Culinarian and Leatherworker, it will
not be enough for the next step. In order to conquer the next set of recipes with ease, we will
134
134 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
need to farm up about 500k gil so you can level. Head back to the farming spots mentioned in
the farming section or farm a large number of Tomestone items to sell on the Market Boards.
Either will work just fine. This may take 5-10 hours of farming, but overall it is not a huge
investment of time.
You can also begin to craft items listed in the "easy" section and sell the HQ items listed in the
crafting guides, but do not count on making much gil from crafting just yet.
While it might sound like 500k is a lot, you will get there fairly quickly if you do not buy
anything. Resist the temptation to spend until you save up that 500k gil. It should take 10 hours
max, perhaps just 5 hours if you find one of the farming spots with zero competition.
Step #4. Level up Carpenter to 50.
With some of the gil you just farmed, you should have plenty of gil available to take Carpenter
to level 50. Use Repeatable Leves to help reduce the cost. Byregot's Blessing will make things
much easier for you. You can view my Carpenter leveling guide here if you need help with this:
http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-carpenter-leveling-guide-repeatable-leves/
It should only cost 200-250k gil to do this.
Step #5. Level Up Your Craft of Choice to 50
After spending some of the 500k gil you earned earlier and leveling Carpenter to 50, you should
still have 250-300k gil leftover. You will want to use this to level up your craft of choice to 50. I
would recommend going with Alchemy or Weaver as your first class to 50. You can level
Alchemy for less than 250k, whereas Weaver may cost more. You will want both at 50 in order
to attempt to progress further in the guide. Having both of these classes at 50 is step #7. You
can always level up an additional discipline of the hand, but you will need these two for their
cross-class skills.
Step #6a. Craft and Farm for Profit
With Carpenter 50, Culinarian 37, and Weaver or Alchemist at 50, you now have the skills you
need to craft all "easy" and "moderate" recipes as HQ 100% of the time. Invest about 100k into
getting all HQ slots. No (or at least very minimal) materia is needed once you have all of these
135
135 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
skills. As a Weaver, you can HQ various mid-level crafting gear along with Dew Thread,
Velveteen, Wool and possibly even Felt (with good enough gear). As a Carpenter, you can craft
all types of lumber. As an Alchemist, you can craft many mid-level reagents, with a focus on
Growth Formulas and Horn Glue.
You could easily stop here and just farm and craft and make plenty of gil. You could farm your
own Fleece as a weaver to make Woolen Cloth and Yarn. You could farm your own Aldgoat
Horns to make glue as a Weaver.
If your goal is to make no more than ~5 million gil, you can easily stop here.
Step #6b. Craft or Farm 300k Gil.
If you want to get really rich in FFXIV, you will want to take your crafts and gear (via materia) to
an even higher level. The first step is going to be to farm up another 300k gil or so in order to
get the cross class skills we need.
Step #7 (optional). Level Alchemist and Weaver to 50 and Blacksmith to 15
During Step 5, you should have already taken Alchemist or Weaver to 50. With your 300k gil
you just earned, you should level up whichever one you did not level up before to 50. You will
need both of these at 50 for their cross-class skills in order to successfully HQ high difficulty
items with normal ingredients.
Step #8 (optional). Farm or Craft Your Way to ~2.5 Million Gil
Even with your newfound crafting ability, this will still take about 25 hours of crafting or good
farming, plus all the time it takes to sell those items on the Market Boards. If your Market
Board slots are full, consider farming your own materials to speed things up. This is why many
players will want to just stop at Step 6a - stopping there will let you make ~90k gil an hour from
crafting without much upfront investment.
If you want to be able to make a steady 100k or even 200k an hour from crafting, you will need
to farm or craft your way to this much money in order to buy the materia you need to progress
to the next step. Getting to the highest possible gil earning potential in FFXIV requires a
136
136 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
significant investment. Of course, if it was easy, everybody would do it! That is why it is so
profitable in the first place!
Step #9. Get Best In Slot Materia On Your Rings, Earrings, Necklace, Bracelet, and Belt
Use ~1.5 million gil in order to max out the materia on your Rings, Earrings, Necklace, Bracelet,
and Belt. This may not cost quite 1.5 million gil - it really depends on how lucky you get with
your melds. The 1.5 million gil price tag represents the worst case scenario - if you get really
lucky, this might only cost 750k gil. Either way, it is large investment, so unless you plan on
following through, just stop at step 6a and enjoy the gil earning potential. Here are the
optimum melds (it goes without saying this is using HQ Gear):
Aetheryte Ring x2: Control +3, CP +3, Craftsmanship +4, Control +1
Militia Wristlets: Control +4, CP +4, Craftsmanship +4, CP +2
Red Coral Fang Earrings: Control +3, CP +3, CP +3, Craftsmanship +3
Electrum Necklace: Control +3, CP +3, CP +2, Craftsmanship +3
Raptorskin Merchant's Purse: Control +3, CP +3, Control +2, Craftsmanship +3
With this gear, you have almost enough materia to synthesize difficult items with 100%
guaranteed chance of HQ, but not quite. We will get there in the next step.
Step #10. Max Out Your Offhand and Chestpiece for Desired Crafts
Use your remaining 1-1.5 million gil to max our your offhand and your chest piece for the craft
you want to make level 50+ items with:
Offhand: Control +4, Control +4, Control +3, CP +3, Craftsmanship +3 (in theory this could be
+6, but I do not think the investment here in anything beyond Craftsmanship +1 is worth it since
it has a high chance to fail).
Body: Craftsmanship +6, Control +4, Craftsmanship +5, Craftsmanship +5, Control +1
This will add a grand total of 19 craftsmanship, 15 control, and 3 cp - more than enough to push
your crafting gear into the range where it needs to be in order to craft difficult items with 100%
certainty. More importantly, this approach it allows you to bind cheap throwaway materia to
137
137 http://www.osirismethod.com/ffxiv-gil-guide/ - Home of the Osiris Gil Guide
your head, legs, feet, and glove slots so you can convert these into materia every time you hit
100% spiritbond.
Step #11. Craft for Profit
Now that you have completed your gear set and have all the prerequisite cross-class skills, you
are in a great position to craft for profit. You can now focus on filling up your Market Board
slots with HQ items (use the sample charts in the crafting guide section for ideas).
Note that equipment pieces tend to offer the most gil per craft, but they fill up your Market
Board slots the quickest. I generally prefer to pick 10-20 different item types and then craft
each one 10 times, yielding 100-200 total items. I will then list two of each item type on the
Market Boards and replenish the ones sold each day. At 4k-10k gil profit per HQ gear slot, this
ends up being worth anywhere from 400k to 2 million gil once all 100-200 items are cleared
out. Given that it only takes about 3 hours to craft and bank 200 pieces of gear, this approach
can yield 300k+ gil per hour.
Once I have filled up 35/40 slots with gear, if I want to keep crafting, I will make high level
ingredients like Twinthread, Hippogryph Leather, Darksteel Nuggets, or Rose Gold Nuggets.
Selling these in stacks of 10, 20, or even 99 yields big profits. Even better, making these
reagents quickly build spiritbond, allowing you to convert 4 pieces of equipment every 100
crafts or so. With the materia set up outlined in the previous section, you can convert this gear
with no worries. After about 40-50 converts, or about 20 hours of crafting, your initial
investment in the expensive materia will have been paid off and everything else is profit
(compared to using cheaper materia on all your pieces).
Step 12 (optional) Repeat Step #10 For Each Additional Craft You Want To Use
By step 11, you have all that you need to master one craft in particular and make large amounts
of gil within that craft. However, you can increase your flexibility and cherry-pick the most
profitable recipes by leveling up additional crafts and getting the right gear and materia sets for
those crafts. Since we use most of our materia on jewelry, you have the most expensive part of
your set already complete by the time you switch crafts. The only thing you have to do for each
new craft is to max out your off-hand and your chest piece.
