WHO WE ARE

About 140 years ago Otto Ehinger opened its jewellery manufacture workshop. Over 20 years ago Wolf-Peter Schwarz – his great grandson developed the jewellery line Charlotte. Charlotte, the Original! A milestone with the name Ehinger Schwarz was set in the history of jewellery design. Many innovative art and jewellery concepts have been born here – romantic, revolutionary, aesthetic, amazing, valuable, funny, always decorative and always adorning.

2015 is again a year full of ideas and innova-tions: new faces, new names, people with new perspectives have joined us. They are open to changes and committed to the preservation of good and long established values.

Ute and Dr. Christoph Weiß joined EHINGER SCHWARZ 1876 already two years ago as investors. The Schwarz family has now handed over the reins to the Weiß family – no pun intended. Dr. Christoph Weiß, an experienced business graduate and successful textbook author, has made a name for himself as a corporate consultant and managing direc-tor of various companies and has an esteemed reputation.

Ute Weiß, a professional in the areas of art and design is responsible for the creative part of the company. She is the perfect complement to her husband. Together, they look forward to this exciting task at Ehinger Schwarz. Also new to the team and yet not an unknown face: The new chief designer Timo Kuechler. He knows the company since the late 1980s and maintained a cordial relationship with the Company.

Everything is changing, much remains exact-ly as it is – because it is good! And everyone in the team has high expectations for the future.

Creating it is a highly sophisticated art – more than just craftsmanship. It takes many years of experience and expertise and intuition: Special coloured glasses are crushed in a mortar to a powder, mixed with distilled water and applied on the precious metal with extremely thin brushes. It takes a lot of concentration and skill, because this is painting with a very unyielding ‘color’!

Timo Kuechler is the new design and marketing manager at Ehinger Schwarz. To him, jewellery is an expression of personality. He says: ‘jewellery goes straight to the heart, and from there into the mind, only to end up back in the heart.’ In this spirit:

You can already tell by his quiet and reserved manner, Timo Kuechler is always alert! He sees, feels, observes, absorbs and is fascinated by materials, shapes, structures and phenomenons. Timo likes things. He gathers them to look at and study them and to show them. Approxi-mately 5,000 specimens embraces his phenom-enological collection ranging from beautiful shells to the ring from a gum ball machine to perfectly designed design objects. Because ‘all things have an impact on us’, says the design-er. And he wants that we observe them with respect and sensitivity.

The experienced designer has been awarded numerous prestigious awards: the Red Dot Award by the Design competition of the Federal Republic of Germany. 25 years ago he already spent some time working for Ehinger Schwarz – alongside Wolf-Peter Schwarz. In the intervening years, he designed and developed products for renowned companies such as Niessing, Rodenstock, Wilkhahn and HEWI.He is also a guest lecturer at various design schools in Germany and Switzerland since the 1980s. In all these years the work of Timo
