Handwriting recognition built into Mac OS® X Leopard® converts handwriting into printed text in every application and provides extended system control through gesture recognition.

Designed in California by Axiotron’s team of American and German engineers, the Modbook comes standard with built-in iSight® cam-era, integrated 24x Combo drive or 8x SuperDrive and full Apple MacBook connectivity via Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, FireWire® 400, Bluetooth™ 2.0 and AirPort Extreme®.

The Modbook is the only portable Mac solution that also features a built-in Global Positioning System (GPS).

State-of-the-Art Pen Input The Modbook uses Penabled® digitizer technology from Wacom®, the in-dustry leader in graphics tablets for professional artists. The Axiotron Digitizer Pen provides an intuitive, comfortable and flexible way to control your digital environment.

As you draw in applications such as Adobe® Photoshop® and Corel® Painter™ the pen’s 512 levels of pressure sensitivity – twice the capability of any tablet PC – deliver precise and delicate control of renderings. The Axiotron Digitizer Pen is:

The included Axiotron Digitizer Pen features two programmable side buttons, plus a digital eraser. Also included are eleven replaceable pen tips in three versions: a spring-loaded Studio Nib (x3); a Pencil Nib (x3); and a Felt Nib (x5).

Unlike a touchscreen, users can work with the pen while their hand rests on the Modbook’s screen. The pen needs no batteries and always feels light and nimble. Radio-based digitizer technology allows control of the cursor as the pen hovers over the screen, creating an intuitive, mouse-like interface.

The Axiotron Modbook is fully compatible with Apple Inkwell®, a Mac OS X Leopard feature that provides system-level handwriting and gesture recognition instantly to all Mac applications. Axiotron Quickclicks™ software permits users to quickly input passwords and special characters or execute shortcuts and macros. Users can also connect a standard keyboard and mouse via USB or Bluetooth.

Elegant Design, Quality MaterialsBoth the Axiotron Modbook’s top shell and interior display frame are built from top-grade aircraft quality magnesium alloy, giving the Modbook its superior structural strength.

Unlike the anodized aluminum used in most computers, the Modbook’s tough magnesium top shell is protected by a triple layer of metal plating – nickel over copper and topped with chrome – offer-ing a scratch-resistant and aesthetically pleasing surface.

Both the LCD panel and built-in iSight camera are protected by chemically strengthened Axiotron ForceGlass™. Compared to cheaper plastic solutions found in most tablet computers, Force-Glass provides superior optical, anti-ag-ing and scratch resistance properties.

An anti-reflective coating on the inward-facing side of the ForceGlass screen cover increases light transmissivity for a brighter image. The outward-facing side has been acid treated to achieve an etched surface calibrated to match the display resolution, eliminating “sparkle” effects and providing a crisp, paper-like writing sensation.

Built-in CD/DVD Burner The Modbook is the only slate-style tab-let computer with an integrated 24x Combo drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) or 8x SuperDrive with double-layer support (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW).

Built-in iSight Camera The Axiotron Modbook uses the iSight camera of its Apple MacBook base system. On the Modbook it is mounted with a downward tilt of five degrees to better frame the face of the user (i.e., when using iChat®).

Full MacBook ConnectivityThe Axiotron Modbook retains the full range of Apple MacBook connectivity options via 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0, FireWire 400, Blue-tooth 2.0 and AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi.

Crystal Clear DisplayThe Modbook’s new and improved LCD panel offers wide viewing angles (Horiz./Vert.: 100°/90°) and a high con-trast ratio (500:1) for darker blacks and lush, saturated colors, with a display resolution of 1280x800 pixels and an aspect ratio of 113 ppi.

Built-in Mounting Locks Inconspicuous locking points designed into the magnesium top shell, combined with an optional Modbook Quick-Release Bracket, allow the Modbook to be securely fastened to standard VESA-compatible desktop arms, vehicle mounts and other support mechanisms.
