AKLAT – A MONTH AFTER LAUNCH By: CP Ahl Legaspi, RAC Makati Olympia

In the past month, AKLAT has been an ongoing weekly activity

at Jose Magsaysay Elementary School. Envisioned to help

non-reader Grades 1 – 3 pupils learn how to read and improve

their comprehension skills, it has evolved into a full time

mentoring and tutorials for academically slow students. Aside

from Reading, other academic subjects like Math, Science and

Pilipino are now being taught them. Grades 4 and 5 pupils are

also part of the beneficiaries.

The first evaluation of the progress in learning of the pupil-

beneficiaries will be after three months. Baseline data on their

aptitude have been recorded for proper monitoring.

We, the Interactors and Rotaractors (Ate and Kuya) who

participate in the weekly sessions, are more inspired and

hopeful that we will be able to achieve our goals for our wards.

We look forward to every meeting that we have with them.

Our joy is in knowing that what we are doing is our little

contribution to their future.

The Olympians that we are, we have pledged to

go for gold always… This is not to say that we

serve to be recognized and win awards. We

work with no less than excellence as our

parameter. We shall not do anything less. There

is no endeavor that is big or small, great or

insignificant as long as we know that we will

help change the lives of our beneficiaries for the

best.

Service is our reward!

“ ..why not in big Chicago

have a fellowship composed of

just one man from each of

many different occupations,

without restrictions as to their

politics or religion, with

broad tolerance for each

other’s opinions? In such a

fellowship could there not be

mutual helpfulness?..”
