FMCF was established in 1999. The money raised supports "Cornerstones for Kids" - building a brighter future through education, the arts and baseball. Since its inception, the FMCF has given back over $6 million dollars to the community! The purpose of this not-for-profit charitable organization is to promote educational, athletic, health, social and community service programs with a particular focus on South Florida's youth.

The 3rd Annual Fish ‘N Chips casino party presented by Fox Sports Florida returns on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 6pm. We hope to see you at Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club in Aventura for this annual fundraising event. Join Fredi Gonzalez, Hanley Ramirez and Jeff Conine along with coaches, players and an elite group of community leaders, celebrities and socialites for an evening of fun and stakes at the Craps, Blackjack, Roulette and Poker tables. Guests can enjoy hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, music and a silent auction filled with exciting items.

GRANTS + CONTRIBUTIONS = DONATIONSGRANTS + CONTRIBUTIONS = DONATIONS In addition to FMCF quarterly grants, the Foundation makes contributions to many local organizations. Here is a list of organizations receiving contributions during the first 6 months of 2009, which totaled over $128,000. Also, included are photos from previous grant recipients from the Hollywood Park Elementary Sensory Room and Schott Communities Summer Literacy Camp for Deaf Children.
The Marlins will welcome fans to Wrigleyville during the three-game Cubs series, July 31-August 2. FMCF will organize auctions, raffles, mystery items and more to raise funds at the Community Corner, section 149. Andre Dawson, who played for the Marlins and Cubs and is a current Special Assistant to the Marlins President, will greet fans and sign “free” autographs as well as take photographs on Friday, July 31. If you plan to attend one of these games, stop by the Community Corner and join the fun.
WRIGLEYVILLE RETURNS JULY 31—AUGUST 2
Jiffy Lube has extended its partnership with the FMCF until the end of July. The 31 South Florida Jiffy Lube stores are offering discount coupon books valued at over $100 in services for a $5 contribution to the FMCF. Stop by your local Jiffy Lube or the Community Corner and pick up a coupon book. It’s a win-win situation. Call the Marlins Foundation at 305-623-6497 for details .
JOIN CODY AT DUNKIN’ DONUTS AND RAISE MONEY FOR THE FMCF
Mark your calendar for Saturday, August 15 from 11 am - 12 pm for a grand re-opening of a Dunkin’ Donuts location in Coral Springs. Cody Ross will appear at the event and Dunkin’ Donuts will make a donation to the FMCF. Other Marlins players such as starting pitcher Chris Volstad has appeared at other Dunkin’ Donuts locations to support FMCF. Visit 1146 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071 inside the plaza on the NW side of the intersection.

EVENT CAPTIONS
1) The 11th Annual Dollars and Strikes night allowed over 100 children from various Boys & Girls Clubs units to enjoy an evening with the Marlins.
2) Broadcasters Tommy Hutton and Rich Waltz and Fox Sports Florida dedicated the entire June 23 telecast to the Fantasy Auction.
3) On June 20, FMCF Executive Director Nancy Olson presented a check to the Florida State League to support the scholarship program from FMCF Spring Training fundraising activities.
4) Fox Sports Florida pregame host and in-game reporter, Craig Minervini, provided auction bid updates on the Sharp Business Systems Big Board.
5) In honor of Lou Gehrig's memory, MLB celebrated the 70th anniversary of Gehrig's famous speech and his words were read during a pre-game ceremony. FMCF and ALS Recovery Fund supporter, Frank Wagner, won an online auction that offered a 1st Pitch Opportunity on July 4.
6) Marlins Outfielder Brett Carroll visited the Fantasy Auction VIP party to talk with guests and take photographs before the game.
7) The Cypress-Ellison family won a July 4th auction that allowed young Zachery to drop off the rosin bag and announce “Play Ball” for the crowd.
8) The Marlins Wives teamed together to host the Annual Marlins Wives Tackle Box Auction on July 4 during the Marlins -Pirates game. The auction featured tackle boxes from Marlins players with game-used equipment, autographed items and other objects unique to each player's personality.

Please join the Foundation in welcoming Jennifer Diliz who was recently hired as Director of Foundation Development. As the Foundation celebrates its 10th Anniversary, we are moving to a new level of supporting the South Florida community. Jennifer will be a key part of helping us reach this goal. Jennifer is a graduate of Hialeah High School and Florida International University. She comes to us from the YMCA of Greater Miami where she served as Director of Annual Giving and Special Events
