He. 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathise with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are — yet was without sin.


Ph. 2:12-13 continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

He. 10:26-27 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.


Mt. 7:21-27 “Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, `Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, `I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 2Co. 5:9-11 So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due to him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad. Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade men. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience.


FULL ASSURANCE


Ec. 12:13-14 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

THE FEAR OF THE LORD Jesus said: Lk. 12:4-5 “I tell you, my

friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

Ps. 76:7-9 You alone are to be feared. Who can stand before you when you are angry? From heaven you pronounced judgment, and the land feared and was quiet — when you, O God, rose up to judge, to save all the afflicted of the land.


Ps. 90:11 Who knows the power of your anger? For your wrath is as great as the fear that is due to you.

Ps. 96:4-6 For great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the LORD made the heavens. Splendour and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.

THE FEAR OF THE LORD Phobos: panic,

flight, fear, fear, the causing of fear, terror.

Ec. 12:6-7 Remember him — before the silver cord is severed, or the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, or the wheel broken at the well, and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.


THE MESSAGE IS SENT TO GOD FEARERS

Ac. 13:26 “Brothers, children of Abraham, and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent.


The Benefits of Learning the Fear of the Lord

2 Chronicles 26:5 He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the LORD, God gave him success.

SALVATION Ps. 85:9 Surely his salvation is

near those who fear him.


HE WILL INSTRUCT YOU Ps. 25:12 Who, then, is the man

that fears the LORD? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him.


CONFIDES IN YOU Ps. 25:14 The LORD confides in

those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.


LACK NOTHING Ps. 34:9 Fear the LORD, you his

saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.


GOOD THINGS Ps. 31:19 How great is your

goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.


PROTECTION Ps. 33:18-19 But the eyes of the

LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.


ANGELIC PROTECTION Ps. 34:7 The angel of the LORD

encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.


HE LOVES AND FORGIVES Ps. 103:11-12 For as high as the

heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.


PROVIDES FOOD Ps. 111:5 He provides food for

those who fear him; he remembers his covenant for ever.


LOVE FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS Ps. 103:17-18 But from everlasting

to everlasting the LORD’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children — with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts.


WISDOM Ps. 111:10 The fear of the LORD is

the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding.

Pr. 9:10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.


TEACHES WISDOM Pr. 15:33 The fear of the LORD

teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honour.


BLESSINGS Ps. 115:13 He will bless those who

fear the LORD — small and great alike.


FRUITFULL Ps. 128:1-4 Blessed are all who

fear the LORD, who walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your labour; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots round your table. Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD.


FEARFULLY MADE Ps. 139:13-14 For you created my

inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are wonderful, I know that full well.


HEALTH Pr. 3:7-8 Do not be wise in your

own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.


AVOID SIN Pr. 16:6 Through love and

faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil.


OUR DESIRES FULFILLED Ps. 145:19-20 He fulfils the desires

of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them. The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.


GOD’S DELIGHT Ps. 147:10-11 His pleasure is not in

the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man; the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.


LONG LIFE Pr. 10:27 The fear of the LORD

adds length to life, but the years of the wicked are cut short.


UPRIGHT LIFE Pr. 14:2 He whose walk is upright

fears the LORD, but he whose ways are devious despises him.


PROTECTION FROM DEATH Pr. 14:26-27 He who fears the

LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.


REST Pr. 19:23 The fear of the LORD

leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.


WEALTH AND HONOUR Pr. 22:4 Humility and the fear of

the LORD bring wealth and honour and life.


ZEALOUS Pr. 23:17 Do not let your heart

envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.


PROSPEROUS DESCENDANTS Ps. 112:1-3 Praise the LORD.

Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures for ever.


DON’T HARDEN YOUR HEART Pr. 28:14 Blessed is the man who

always fears the LORD, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.


PRAISED WOMEN Pr. 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and

beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
