  • Welcome Layla & Asher

The New Face of Nowendoc Public

What a year 2015 has been for our little school! We have almost doubled in size. Term 3

began with the welcoming of Layla and Asher Lordanic-Mooney. Joining Nowendoc Public

has been a bit of a culture shock for Layla and Asher who have come from a school with

over 700 students. They have risen to the challenge of new routines, new teachers and a

new school environment with smiles and exuberance.

  • Congratulations Amy

    Congratulations Nick & Henry

The 2015 University of New Eng-

    land School Acquisitive Art Compe-

tition is a major regional event for

NERAM. There were 707 art en-

tries out of which 62 finalists were

    chosen.

Amy Laurie, year 1, was chosen as

one of these finalists for her

    ‘Weeping Woman’ artwork. Accom-

panied by her mum ,Belinda and

    sisters Amy attended the Opening

    and prize giving ceremony where

she was awarded a Certificate of

    Distinction.

We are very proud of Amy and very

    fortunate to have Tracey Worth’s

dedication and talent to guide our

    students art learning.

One of our You Can Do It

    program’s focus is Persis-

    tence. Nick and Henry

    have made huge leaps

    with putting in effort and

    persisting as they work

    towards achieving their

    goal of consistently read-

    ing and spelling the Gold-

    en Words.

    Well Done Boys!

  • Maths Games

Maths games engage children and then motivate them to interact with the topic.

This interaction drives children to demonstrate their understanding of the concept in

a friendly contest where successes are memorable moments of shared triumph and

celebration and where mistakes mean only that the learner is being stretched to his

or her own limits. In this activity, the children were applying non-count by one strat-

    egies to solve problems efficiently.

    Static Science

    Mrs Lock’s science

    experiments continue

    to delight the children.

    Static electricity started

off the term and as you

    can see it was hands

on fun all the way as

    the children used the

    friction of balloons and

    hair to discover the

    effects of static elec-

    tricity.

    Replenishing the Vegetable Garden

During the later part of term 2 our vegetable garden enjoyed a makeover. Thank you to Dave Daley for the donation of a ute load of his magic manure for our veg-etable garden and thank you to Jenny and Graeme Bullen for pickup and deliv-

ery. Under the expert tutelage of Jenny we spent a wonderful afternoon planting

    winter vegetables and worm hunting.

    Pyjama Day

Parker, Emily, Phoebe, Charlotte, Amy, Nick, Henry

and Jenna-Rose celebrated the end of term 2 in

style with a Pyjama Day. This was a reward for a

fabulous term of learning and positive behaviour.

    Thanks kids!
