“Irreducible complexity”



A system, therefore, is more or less complex depending onhow many non-equivalent descriptions of the system theobserver can discern. We argue that wisdom enables theinterpreter to see more complexity , because of theirontological acuity, see more clearly what the complexitymeans, and know how to respond in the most appropriateway. It is, perhaps, the ontological acuity that isfoundational of wisdom. By this we mean the capacity tosimultaneously discern the technical complexity, the social

complexity, the cultural complexity, and the ethicalcomplexity of a situation by critically understanding theirontological foundations, and to be able to integrate themall in a plausible narrative that responds to that complexity.
