“The Not-So-Luscious Life of Frank”TT Franks eyes flickered. A sharp pain jabbed through his eyes. He sat up, not understanding

what he was looking at. It was ripping him apart but he could not show any emotion. He noticedeveryone around him crying and hugging each other as he just sat confused. No one could explain tohim how he should feel. He just sat their wondering what life would be like with out his little brother.

He began glancing around looking at his childhood church for what he remembered as a fun, warming place where he and his little brother would wrestle around on the benches and imagine new games to play. Now the church was no longer like that. It was dark, and sad. Only the candle light could shine onthis dark, dark, ever so dark afternoon. His eyes slowly started closing as he could not sleep at all lastnight.BR The next day was even worse. All the kids and teachers saying “I'm so sorry for your loss.” He

just wanted to walk out of school and go home. He had told himself that he would pull through, and tryto get through the long day. As he walked into his third period class, geography, he was hoping that itwould be a successful day. It started off good. Nobody was smothering him with all their sympathy. Histeacher was handing their tests back. Frank thought to himself, “I know I did great on this test.” Then,he got his test and as he looked to see his grade, his smile faded into a frown. “I failed”, Frank thoughtto himself. Now nothing else could go wrong. First his brother died and now he failed his test. As hetried to keep positive his teacher yelled two horrible words, “Pop Quiz!” He felt tears coming to hiseyes, as he realized his day just got ten times worse. “Why me”, he whispered silently to himself.(RJ)

Frank felt so depressed that he went to the nurses office and said he didn't feel good. He askedto call his mom because he just wanted to go home. Ten minutes later his mom was there and he was onhis way home. Frank got dropped off at home then his mom went racing back to work. Frank enteredthe house sluggishly and plopped himself down on the couch. He burst into tears then went upstairs tohis room. Right across the room was his brothers room. He opened the door and peeked inside. Layingon the bed was his brother's favorite toy. A batman action figure. Frank picked it up and stared at, thenstarted sobbing. He still could not believe that his little brother was dead.

The upcoming Saturday was the funeral. (JD) Frank could not bare to look in the face of anyone else he was truly depressed. All his friends would talk about his brother behind his back so hedidn't have to think about the sad memories any longer. Frank new it was good intentions but he didn'tlike others feeling pity for him. The next day he was about to go on the swing that his brother loved andthe batman started looking at him out the window.

(HK) “O...M...G...” he said to himself.“Hello son” Batman said to Frank in a low, Batman like voice. “ We were doing research on technologythat could bring people back to life in the Batcave. After 2 years of trial and error, we think he havefinally finished out our device. We know you have been through a lot and thought that you woulddeserve to have your brother brought back to life.” he explained.

“That would be awesome, but if this is a joke, it's a cruel one” Frank sighed. Then, Batman took off his mask and Frank began to cry, as he realized that everything really was just acruel joke. His “Batman” was only Alex Mackay, the new kid who recently moved into theneighborhood, and he was running away laughing. Frank couldn't understand why the world hated him.
