The History Behind St. Patrick’s Day  By: Dimitris

St.Patrick's day. The day every year where we pretend to be Irish and all collect clovers. But St. Patrick wasn’t even Irish. Seasonal Poems   Spring Poem by Madison  The new-born flowers bloom,  One by one. Taking in their surroundings  As they awake to a beautiful life  Ahead of them. The birds high up sing gracefully, Filling the warm air and skies with  Their beautiful songs, Each with a different tune.  The bright yellow sun high above them all  Glitters against the freshly-cut grass, Sparkling like a diamond ring. All I can see is the  beauty nature provides us. Spring is refreshing.  Excerpt from Spring by Rachel  Spring is like the sun’s rays shining Spring is like a sunflower field swaying in the wind Spring is like the fresh taste of a sweet strawberry bursting in your mouth Spring is like an ice cream vendor selling all the ice cream in the world for free Spring is like the astonishing glimpse of a fantastic sunset that no one else but you can see   March by Grace The sun is shining, melting the old snow, Day by day, The world is transforming to create something new, A new familiar, Spring is not here but it is coming, And we can all feel and see the signs Then songs the birds sing, The baby animals taking in new possibilities Everything's better in March The rain is warm, The air is cool, You can feel Spring on the end on every breath The sky a color only seen in this month, Come, Enjoy, Enjoy March with me

butter, lemon zest and food coloring until smooth. Pour hot mixture into crust.

● In a small bowl, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, on high until stiff glossy peaks form and sugar is dissolved. Spread evenly over hot filling, sealing edges to crust.

● Bake at 350° for 10-15 minutes or until the meringue is golden brown. Cool on a wire rack for 1 hour. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours before serving. Store leftovers in the refrigerator.

Book Recommendations  The Swift Boys & Me by Kody Keplinger is an amazing book I read in fourth grade. It was a while ago, but I remember it very clearly because it was so good that I reread it multiple times. This book appeals to students in grades 4-6 the most, but older students can enjoy it too. The book is about two families, the Suttons and the Swifts. The families are happy, and the kids claim they’ll live next door even when they’re grown ups and when they’re married. But one day, the boys’ dad drives out of the driveway,

and changes everything.   Keeper of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger. Perfect for fantasy lovers! I didn’t want to read this at first, but when I did I loved it. You may not want to read it like I didn’t want to, but it’s an amazing book that you should give a chance!

Sports Update with Nick & Jack  Klay Thompson's Shooting Slump’

This year in the NBA, new players have become stars on their teams. Klay Thompson is having a great season so far with the Golden State Warriors who he had played for them for 8 seasons already. This summer Klay Thompson is going free agent which the Golden State Warriors want to resign him. In this season Klay Thompson had a rocky start. He would have games without getting many shots and in some nights he would have great games. Klay’s best game this season was against the Chicago Bulls, which he had broken an NBA record. He had 14-3 pointers which are the most in a game ever by any player in NBA history. His worst shooting game

Create your own bookmark! Now make your own hat shaped bookmark in 5 minutes. First, cut a piece of paper that looks like a hat in any color. Now add a buckle and you can draw a shamrock or a four leaf clover anywhere on the hat. You can also decorate the hat any way you’d like and you can color too. Now you have a St. Patrick’s Day themed bookmark that you can use.  Help the environment! We’re always learning about protecting the environment at school, and I bet many of you, although you want to help, don’t know what you can do to contribute. Well here’s a simple DIY that incorporates reusing! The materials are: two bottle caps, an exacto knife, and a hot glue gun. First, you take one bottle cap and cut half of it through the middle with an exacto knife (lay it flat, hold the knife flat, and go through half of the cap horizontally). Then, you put hot glue on the inside of the second cap, and put the un-cut half of the first cap on the inside of the second cap. Now, you can stick post its with urgent reminders, pictures with your friends, and other paper on the cut side of the first cap.

A Note From the Environmental Club  By Vincent and Robert

A deserted forest. No birds chirping. No

swaying trees. No squirrels scampering on the

ground, looking for food. Welcome to Earth, 7000

years in the future.

Okay, maybe this isn’t the world right now.

There are still forests. There are still trees. There

are still cute squirrels

scampering for food.But the

world might be like this.

And we have to stop it. And

that is what the NEC is

trying to do.

“We are trying to make Northvale a greener

community,” says Executive Chairman Robert. “We

have to start small, and we will start small by

starting with the school.” We have a club of 14

students and one teacher/director: Mrs. Sardanis.

was against the Portland Trailblazers which he had a 33.7% from the 3-point range. Even though Klay Thompson was not shooting well at the start of the season he did not think that he was in a shooting slump. Now Klay Thompson is averaging 21.8 points per game. Overall, Klay Thompson is a very good player who has broken records with Stephen Curry. He may have been in shooting slumps a couple of times, but he is still a very good shooter.

2026 FIFA In the summer of 2026, the FIFA that is held every four years

will be in the US, Canada, and Mexico. It will be the 23rd FIFA World Cup. There will be 48 teams, but usually, there are only 32 teams because there are 8 groups of 4. It is held every four years. There will be 3 locations in Canada and 3 locations in Mexico. The rest will be in the US. The 3 stadiums in Canada are in Edmonton, which is the Commonwealth Stadium, Montreal, which is the Olympic Stadium, and Toronto, which is the BMO Field. In Mexico, the locations will be Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara. The stadiums are Estadio Akron, Estadio Azteca, and Estadio BBVA Bancomer. The stadiums in the US are most likely going to be the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Metlife Stadium in New Jersey, the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, FedExField in Washington D.C., and CenturyLink Field in Seattle. Metlife Stadium is most likely going to be the host of the finals. There are 16 cities that will be hosting the games out of 23 cities in 3 nations. There will be 80 games in total. This FIFA will be much different than other times and promises a very exciting tournament.

What is Kendo? Kendo is Japanese fencing. The word kendo is translated to

“way of the sword.” It is a competitive sport where the practitioners try and strike an opponent's head, wrists, throat, and the hip. Besides the competitive part of this, kendo is an old martial art that teaches discipline, builds strength, stamina, speed, and improves reflexes. It will also improve your mental health, since concentration, determination, and attitude will be developed. Kendo is a martial art that consists of using a sword and sparring. Kendo is a very popular sport that is popular in countries that have some sort of ties with Japan, like Korea and Taiwan. It is also popular in places like the United States and Canada because of immigrants bringing this tradition over. (The martial art is called kendo worldwide, but in Korea it is called Kumdo, still meaning the same thing.)This tradition is not just competitive, since mastering it is a lifelong journey with people still practicing at extremely old ages. Overall, this is a short summary of what kendo truly is.
