YWC Upcoming Events Fun Field Day When: September 30, 2012

Where: Sugarbrook Field Trial Grounds Plainfield, CT

Plan to provide shade and water for

you dog(s).

Birds are $10 each and you will need to let us know how many bird you want.. They have to be ordered ahead of time. Birds are difficult to get this year and we will need to know the numbers ASAP.

The Basic Frosty Paws Recipe

32 oz. plain yogurt

1 mashed ripe banana

2 tablespoons peanut butter

2 tablespoons honey

Mix all of the ingredients with a blender or mixer

and freeze in ice cube trays. Small paper cups and

disposable egg cartons also make good molds.

When frozen, microwave for a few seconds,

unmold, and place the treats in a plastic bag and

store in the freezer. (Note: if using Styrofoam egg

cartons or cups, rest the containers briefly in a

partially filled pan of warm water to loosen

contents. Unless the Styrofoam is labeled as

microwave safe, it could melt.) If you want to be

fancy, bone and paw shaped molds are available.

If you’ve never had the opportunity to attend a Yankee show at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick

RI, you’ve missed an opportunity to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in which dog show people are

appreciated for what we do. From the office staff to the grounds crew, everyone is there to help

the club put on a class eventKand thanks to many YWC and WCA members, I believe we did.

The shows offered entrants and attendees an accomplished panel of judges; good weather,

nice dogs, 5 pt majors, good food, a fun-time raffle and a well attended Welcome party. Thank

you to all who either worked or supported our efforts.

Our panel of judges included: Jennifer Martin, Sweepstakes; Eileen Ketcham, Thursday

Specialty; Jim Covey, Futurity and Maturity; Olga K. Evelyn, Friday Specialty; and Jim Ashton,

Obedience.

Nutmeg Weimaraner Club Retrieving Dog Ratings Tests When: August 25, 2012 Where: Nod Brook Wildlife Management Area, Tower Business Complex, Simsbury, Ct Judges: Donna Pageau and Stephen Shaw

On August 25, four Yankee Weimaraner Club members passed their respective level ratings

tests. Lorna Godsill and Pizazz, Bryan Finke with Bunker, Lynette Bresnahan with Cruzan and

Sue O’Donnell and Maree showed retrieving aptitude. Cruzan, Pizazz and Bunker are sibling

out of Spree (Rosaic’s Dust in my Dreams) and earned their NRD. Maree earned her RD title.

The Test was put on by Nutmeg Weimaraner Club and was judged by Donna Pageau and

Stephen Shaw.

Mani (Stargazer Freedom Hill's It's My Party) finish his Canadian Championship before his first birthday. At the CHATEAUGUAY VALLEY KENNEL CLUB SHOW. He was Winner's dog, Best Puppy in breed and Best of Breed at all four shows. Mani also earned two best puppy in groups. In addition, his sister Gia (Stargazer FH Crazy Little Party Girl) was Winner's Bitch at 3 of the shows. Kapri (Camelot Freedom Hills N Stargazer's Kapri) earned Winner's Bitch at one of the shows. She is currently #20 weim in Canada and tied for #1 weim in Quebec!

NRD, V. Her dam is Lily - CH Camelot's Drama Queen. She also earned her second 4 point major at Ladies Kennel Club in June winning BOS.

-Stargazer FH Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah was Best Baby Puppy in Sporting Group in Canada at the

Sunday, July 29 show. Zip is co-owned by Carol Dubuque and Linda Caplan.


-At the Providence County Kennel Club Trials last weekend, July 29, held at the University of RI Ryan Center, Cayce (CH Colsidex Sharper Image CD RA), competed in the Rally Advanced B Class. There were ten dogs entered. We finished in third place with a score of 95. Although he has his Advanced title we continue to compete in Advanced B in an attempt to finish at the top. This was our highest finish yet. We are working on the backup exercise so we can start competing in the Rally Excellent class.

Other News

-Carol Dubuque has a neutered 19 month old male in need of a home. He is very sweet, started in agility and obedience. He has also done some tracking. Good with kids!

- Jean Gamble got notice from the Canine University at 781-324-3722 offering training

classes in Malden, Ma. They have offered discounts to rescue dogs in the past.

Kate Masters 8/9/51-7/30/12

The Weimaraner world has lost a friend. Kate Masters of Liverpool NY passed away on 7/30/12 after a long battle with bipolar disorder. She had been active in both the Weimaraner Club of America, and the Yankee Weimaraner Club. Kate was a breeder handler of her Kaceem Weimaraners the foundation of which began with her friend Judy Colan’s Colsidex dogs. She had seen nearly twenty of her dogs finish their championships. She greatly enjoyed seeing her dogs afield, and preparing them for hunting tests. She was very proud of her Ch Colsidex Stitch In Time,SDX,NRD,JH whose photo on point was the model for artist Dick Mitchell’s beautiful painting “A Stitch In Time”. Although Kate’s health and living arrangements these past years did not allow for a large breed such as a Weimaraner, she would still be seen ring side at the Weimaraner ring between showing her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel pups. She often spoke of the day that she could once again fill the void in her life of not having a Weimaraner, clearly her most loved breed. Her health conditions of recent years took greatly from the strong confident woman she had always been. For those that had known Kate as the vibrant women she was during her involvement with Weimaraners they will surely remember her as such. Submitted by Brian Meany
