Joi ly Roger Regatta All small boat skippers who are

members of SCYA Yacht Clubs are in­vited. to enter the Windjammers' YC Jolly Roger Regatta at Marina del Rey on Sunday, October 30.

The one-day regatta will consist of three races for centerboard boats under 20', with five boats forming a class, and provision for classes not formed to sail under Small Boat Ar­bitrary Handicap rules. Race courses used. for the event will be those of Windjammers' YC Inside Race Chart #10.

Launch areas for the small boats will be at the public beach and at the L.A. County small boat ramp. First race will begin at 12 Noon, with classes starting of five mimite inter­vals.

No entry fee is tequired. Entries will be accepted at the County launch ramp area until 11 a.m. Sunday, and at the starting line until 11 :50.

PALOS VERDES YC Now In Sixth Year

Begun in 1961, the Palos Verdes YC now has 300 members, most of them residents of the picturesque peninsula area just south of Redondo.

Members' boats nm the gamut of sizes in both power and sailing fleets. Commodore is Bob McJones.

This YC sponsors several races each season, among them the October Pram-On-The-Rocks and a November Centerboarder Race. It is also a prime mover in King Harbor's annual Christ­mas Parade.

Currently a "paper YC," with no clubhouse, it is actively pursuing pos­sibilities for a temporary solution to this problem. Ultimate goal in this di­rection however is construction of a permanent facility at water's edge on the Palos Verdes coastline.

LIKE A PAGE FROM THE NAUTICAL PAST is the Lincoln Blvd. (Ma­rina de! Rey) shop opened last May by Roy and Billie Baier. Items for sale range from shackles to diesel engines to a 5' ship's wheel. None of the merchandise is new. Much of it is unique, some is one-of-a-kind - and browsers are always welcome.

local Notice To Mariners As a private aid to Santa Monica

Bay mariners, a rotating beacon has been installed by Southern California Edison Company on top of its Re­dondo Beach Generating Station. ( Ap­proximate position Lat. 33° 50'57" N. , Long. ll8° 2,'3'23" W. ) The light dis ­plays a characteristic of Flashing White every 10 seconds with an in­tensity of 700,000, 180 feet above M.L.L.W. Light List Number 481 has heen assigned to it.

Also a change to be added to L.L. ir482.10, the Redondo Beach West Je tty Light on or about November 4, will give it a fog warning character­istic of one blast every 1.5 seconds .
