WHERE? Memorial Hospital west side parking lot, Washington Street just north of 33rd
Do you have old, broken or unusable items laying around your yard or stacked in the garage? Here is an opportunity to get rid of these items at NO COST TO YOU!
We have arranged with the City of Vancouver to have dump boxes, garbage trucks and a wood chipper available. Metal recycling will also be available until 1 p.m.
ITEMS WE WILL ACCEPT: Furniture
Small appliances (except microwaves)
Four automobile tires per household
One large appliance per household
Empty paint cans
Lumber
Yard debris
Car parts, small engines and scrap metal
Lawn mowers and garden equipment
ITEMS WE WILL NOT ACCEPT: Refrigerators and air conditioners Chemicals, chemical waste and paint
Expired prescription drugs
TVs, computers or microwave ovens
Building materials and roofing tear-offs
Garbage
Dirt, gravel, rock or concrete

Carter Park Leaf Recycling
Vancouver Public Works will be placing a leaf box near the corner of Washington and 33rd street in our neighbor-hood the weekends of Nov. 7 and Dec. 5 for the convenience of residents there. This is a trial program to help people in leafy neighborhoods who may not have access to a pickup to haul leaves to the free drop-off sites.
The box is for LEAVES ONLY. If you use plastic bags for transporting, please empty the leaves into the box. Do not put plastic in the box.
No garbage or other yard debris may be allowed in the leaf box.
DO NOT rake or blow leaves into the street where they clog drains.
Leaf boxes are typically placed late Friday afternoon and picked up early Monday morning each weekend.
The City is providing FREE leaf disposal coupons Oct. 1-Dec. 31. Get more information at: www.cityofvancouver.us/solidwaste.
Got more junk? It’s now easier than ever to find out how to recycle, reuse or dispose of all sorts of things! The City, County and Waste Connections have teamed up to provide the RecycleRight app for their residential garbage and recycling customers. This free app is available for smart phones, tablets, desktop computers or laptops. It provides access a helpful “Recycling A-Z” wizard, where you can find out how to recycle, reuse and properly dispose of hundreds of items. This October, Vancouver Urban Forestry is offering FREE NeighborWoods Stewards training to all interested community members.
The training covers general tree care, tree biology, tree planting, preservation, identification and much more! NeighborWoods Stewards use their training to lead tree projects in their neighborhoods.
