I have stared into the tombs of knowledge and found old incantations and spells of binding that I think will be very useful to our plight against the new Skaven menace. I have taken

it on my own initiative to peer into the open void of our beloved casket of souls and divine a willing spirit to become a trained Homunculus and spy on these foul ratman to gainimportant information.

It is done. I found a willing tormented spirit. The incantation of binding held and it is pleased no end to be freed from its internal prison. I can communicate freely with the Homunculus, I see no reason why the spirit will not serve us well.

I have released it towards what we think is the underground lair of the foul ratman. May

Ra bless its ghostly form.

I am proud to report that our Homunculus spy has infiltrated the Skaven mass. Soon it will report on their plans and schemes. You understand this will take time.

The Homunculus spy seized an opportunity to venture forth and join in one of the foul

Ratmans raids in the badlands. He reported that the Skaven horde faced an orc army; the battle did not go to the Skavens plan. The Grey Seer Akhorahil was seen by our spy to be

wounded deeply by a powerful “head butt” spell from the great orc shaman. This was so

early in the battle that even though the skaven fought on they ended up losing to the

green horde.

At least we can see that these Skaven are being defeated by some.

Following the skaven war-machine, our Homunculus spy reported of yet another battle inthe badlands. The foul ratman were with Grey Seer Akhorahil again and commanded by

another warlord of some unknown skaven clan.Again orcs engaged the skaven and the battle was fierce, a huge Foot of Mork splattered many a clanrat and mangler squigs bounced around the skaven flanks. Finally the rats broke the large savage orc horde and made the command of the orcs flee the battlefield.

The Homunculus noted that Akhorahil to fled the field, the foul Seer killing many of his fellow skaven due to uncontrollable magic.

Not long after the Skaven victory, the foul ratman found themselves attacked again by another orc force. This one was commanded better and was a better force to deal with.Akhorahil is a very intelligent Seer; he had reinforcements ready and sent them on. The orc force was overconfident, or just eager to crush the ratman.

They came on in force and a goblin unit charged across the battlefield. Inside was the great goblin shaman and his aid. They cut down slaves but were out flanked by censer bearers and the Doomwheel. The battle continued but the foul skaven had control of the winds of magic.

The skaven controlled the battlefield and gained the power they seeked. Our Homunculus spy will try to find the truth of this.

Not long after the skaven battle with the green-skins an ogre force came upon them, these followers of the great Maw are an unstoppable force in the badlands so it was not surprising such a event happened. Our Homunculus spy was forced to hide when the clan rat unit he was in was destroyed by man-eaters. This was ok because he was still not revealed and he saw the foul ratman victory over this foe. The skaven conquest is working.

Talk is around about a rewrite to the unstable rule. Even though this is not from Games Workshopitself (which lets face it, might never ever happen) this has come from players for players.

The rule change goes like this and re-writes the current UNSTABLE special rule on page 78 of theWarhammer Rule Book 8th Edition.

Many warriors in the Warhammer world are not alive in the true sense, but are magical constructs

bound to the will of a wizard.

The magic that empowers Unstable creatures is prone to ebbing and flowing with the tide of battle. The more heavily beset the Unstable creatures are, the more likely that the magic that binds them will fadeaway.

Unstable units that lose a combat suffer one extra wound for every point by which they lose by in the combat, with no saves of any kind permitted against these wounds.

If an Unstable unit also contains Unstable characters, or is an Unstable character riding an Unstable monster, the controlling player first allocates any remaining wounds (if any) as equally as possibleamongst the characters.

Characters that are not themselves Unstable are not permitted to join units that are (even if they becometemporarily unstable for some reason).

Also ANIMATED CONSTRUCT is changed to edit this UNSTABLE re-write.

Add: If a number of units with the Animated Construct special rule are in the same combat and lose the combat, then only one less wound is lost from the Unstable result.

This looks hopeful. If we can play with this we can at least be defaceable.

The Grand Army of Ra will not be taking to the field unless there is a rule change, a new army changessome of the tomb king rules. Until then its playing with the new revised UNSTABLE re-write or “waitfor it’ our old army book..

Sad but true.
