The vast untamed deserts of the land of the dead are teaming with nomadic

life. This is also true in the land of Romania, where the people worship the

god Ra. In this land the mortal nomads live a blissful life in the desert with

the eternal dead that protect them total loyalty for protection. This is the

Khemri way, which has been so for thousands of years ever since the greatrebirth.

There were thirteen tribes of nomads in the land of Ra. One was destroyed

in a horrible way, now there are only twelve.

These tribes are scatted throughout the land and each tribe looks after

their own. No tribes declare open war against their fellow tribes, it is

forbidden by the King of the Romanians - Ra-num.

Any tribe that disobeys the law of the king is destroyed by the armies of

the dead luckily no such action has ever taken place. Any disagreement that

comes about is handled by the wise in each tribe. From time to time the holy

Liche of Ra walk the desert and contact the wise of each tribe this

communication is done very carefully and only at times that the Liche need

to tell the tribes something of great importance or to recruit new

    Nassk'mar.

Each tribes population varies from time to time but each tribe has about a

hundred people. Tribes wander the desert never settling in one place for

longer than a month always invading the sandstorms and climate of the heat. Each tribe settles in a main camp surrounded by smaller camps. The main

camp is home to the leaders and the wise of the tribes, also all the tribes

warriors are there ready if need be to defend the surrounding camps.

    Vernus

The Vernus is a slave race of nomads in Romainia. The high classes of the

tribe (or true Vernus) force the lesser population into fighting in pits for

sport and training as warriors to other more wealthy Romainian tribes.

This all started with the destruction of the thirteenth tribe of the

Romainians called the Ish. A meteor of pure warpstone smashed into the

tribe and destroyed them in fiery brimstone. This caused mutation to spread

to the Vernus. From then on all the warped and cursed have been casted as

lesser life forms and thrown to the many pits they make to live and die.

Time has reduced the mutation outbreak but the custom still remains, the

power the higher class has amassed over their weaker class is kept in check

by allowing the occasional free from mutation lesser warrior into the higher

    class.

The other tribes outside Vernus know all to well the corruption inside the

tribe but the more powerful tribes keep their mouths shut because of the

useful labor and warriors the Vernus generate through their cruel methods.

Like this somehow wipes their own hands of the matter, no tribe expresses

    this more than the Siha.

The pits in Vernus is a place where any lesser can better themselves though

physical combat. Successful warriors are bought and traded like cattle.

    Siha

The Siha is the most independent of all the tribes in Romainia. They became

the most-independent because they have the most important commodity one

can have in the vast desert of Romainia. This of course is water the stuff

    of life.

The Siha have underground caves deep under the desert. The Siha that

control the water pools in the caverns are called the honored ones in Siha

culture. The water gets purified through the rock-bed and gets sent up to

wells above ground by water presser and tunnel networks.

The normal nomads of Siha see their gathering of the water of life as proof

of their own superiority over all the rest of the tribes of Romiania. Thus the

Siha have a rather noble feel about them in all Romiania tribe dealings. The Siha wear the best clothes have the best food and servants. The Zawa

cause a lot of fear and loathing in the tribe of Siha, many in the tribe watch

their backs and stay inside in the comfort of a fire making their servants

    risk the night.

The Siha occupy a region of Romainia that drives them close to a tower of

Ra, these towers were constructed hundred of years before the nomads

even started to live in Romiania. The dead guards on top of these structures

keep a look out for driving armies that threaten the land. Of late even theguards sleep, but every nomad tribe stays clear, not allowed to step with in

half a mile of the towers even if they wished.

Siha are unique in this because their tribes boundries envelop one such

    tower.

    Tarnet

The Tarnet are a nomad tribe of hunters that move and camp very close to

the northern mountains of Romainian, due to their livelihood of hunting theMelk (large predatorily vultures native to the mountains of Romainia) and

Humas (a form of cattle that live in mountain areas). Thus the Tarnet are

some of the best archers in Romainia.

  • 8/6/2019 The New Book of Ra - June 2011

    4/18

    June 2011

    4

They sell the skin of the Humas to the rest of Romaina. Tarnet archers are

looked on as archers and bowman they are by far very highly wanted

Nassk'mar. Tribe Keel gets a lot of the skins to craft on shields for the holy

    dead of Ra.

    Zawa

Zawa are know as the Strange Ones this tribe is secretive and does not

allow long contact with other tribes. Out of all the tribes they spread fear

among the others, Siha is scared most out of all the tribes. Not only are

they feared but they are too considered bad luck, stories and whispers are

told that the tribe came to the Ish just before there demise, they taunted

them and cursed them with black magic thus ceiling their fate also.

This is somewhat true; the real story is the Zawa are a secret tribe thathelp with a lot of the information gathering with the Liche-hood of Ra. This

truth is kept secret and the only ones that know are the Jarrca, Liche-hood

and the Zawa. Death comes to any mortal that sees the truth even though

    most suspect the truth.

    Vort

Vort are the horse tamers, even though all of Romainia has access to horses

the Vort are the the only ones that breed very strong ad powerful breeds.

Also they are the most skilled riders thus of all the tribes they wander thedesert the most, covering double the amount of ground in their monthly

    wanderings.

Vort gives a lot to the Jarrca which always needs new strong riders for the

Blackman. Also the Liche of Ra bring forth the dead horses for the light

cavalry of Ra if their bones are pure and unbroken.

When Blackman fall in battle or die in the vast desert by travel or folly they

are always taken by the Liche-hood of Ra as Nasskmar.

    Rubu

Rubu are the scavengers of Romainia the tribe have contacts in the Jarrca

that inform them of locations around Romainia that have rubbish or wasted

goods. The dry sand sweeps in all sorts of small bits of metal and bone and

uncovers lost broken statues under the centuries of sand and time.

    5

But the main thing that fuels the tribe Rubu is the strange things that

appear in these lands. The Liche-Lord Xaltotun said that Romiania is a

gateway to other dimensions, and that these strange things appear from

    these dimensions.

Of course when this happens and the Dead of Ra with the Jarrca finish

investigating the strange thing, the tribe Rubu are sent in. The tribe takes

everything and back at their camp they break down all they find to base

    minerals.

Rubu are also know as the Sick Ones the amount of toxic poisoning, burns

and cuts due to this breaking down of material courses the normal Rubu

worker to look rather sag and sickly.

The leaders of this tribe do none of this work of course, they have to

remain pure to trade and deal with other tribes mostly including Siha.

Some of course see this as just as bad as the slavers of Vernus, but of

course this is not really true.

Because of the amount of labor and work the people of Rubu do they are the

least travelled tribe in Romainia, they send more time in camp working and

    breaking down their minerals.

    Nex

Nex are the all-rounder tribe they have no real advantages compared to the

other tribes. They stay peaceful with all other tribes. This in turn makes

them out to be somewhat weak but the Nex ignore such lies. They are noble

and just, fair and loyal. It is them that other tribes call to for a honest and

loyal judgment. Some say they never lie, and always see though un-judged

eyes; this of course is what the Nex pride themselves on.

The Nex also have the best form of democracy in Romainia, all laws are done

by voting and every man woman and even sometime child has a input.

    Othr

Othr are the proud warriors of Romainia, they live to fight. Over the years

they have breed into a strong and powerful people. They make their living

protecting the weaker tribes thus keeping a stalemate between the stronger

tribes and the weaker ones. Siha dislikes the Othr for this act but it fuels

the survival of not only themselves and the other tribes.

Despite this the Othr too are looked upon for a great source of Nassk'mar

for the grand armies of Ra. This too keeps Othr a prized tribe to the forces

    of Ra.

    Benca, Keel and Wau

Benca, Keel and Wau are the crafters of Romainia. In old times all the

tribes were such. The holy armies of Ra constant need new arrows, bow, swords and shields these are the work of these tribes. No single tribe among

Benca, Keel and Wau make the tools of war better then any other, but of

course they do say they do, which is common.

Rubu has the most dealings with Benca, Keel and Wau because of the metal,

gold and bone they gather are needed to build and craft. The Jarrca keep a

eye on these transactions making sure the Siha do not interrupt the flow of

    items to the glory dead.

    Jarrca

The Jarrca are the Blackman. They are the biggest and most powerful of all

the tribes of Romania. They are fiercely loyal to the dead of Ra and their

holy Tomb King Ra-num. They wander the whole of Romainia, scouting and

    spying for their dead masters.

They tend horses like the Vort but do not breed the best horses of that

tribe; instead they deal with them to acquirer the best mounts. This

sometimes comes into competition with Siha who regard the Blackman asnothing more than proud brigands. Strangely enough the Siha do value the

    Blackman protection.

The Blackman occupy the mountain ranges to the south. These mountains are

massive sand dunes not natural mounts and the Blackman use these to

    disguise their holdings.

    Ish

Ish were the doomed ones. Their tribe was hit by a huge warp-stone comet

very early on in its development. Before then Ish had no know abilities or

attitudes this was at a time when all the tribes of Romainia were all

gatherers and crafters for the holy army of Ra.

Stories are told that it was the Zawa that did the deed they want to

destroy every tribe one by one until they alone rule. Of course such beliefs

are told in quite corners of Romainia, far away from ears, the living dead and

    the Zawa and the Jarrca.

    The Nassk'mar

When the blessed Liche priests of Ra travel to each tribe they look for thestrong, the healthy and the blessed, these such being are noted and kept

secret. Once when needed the Liche honor a tribe by invoking their right to

    take a chosen one?

Every tribe deals with this differently for example Othr the tribe of

warriors, end up fighting each other for the right to be the only chosen one,

others like Nex draw lots if needed.

When the chosen one is found they will be given the great honor of giving his

(or her) life to the god Ra. the act of losing ones life to Ra is quite simple. The chosen one leaves their tribe travels out into the vast desert of

Romainia without any water or food. The shear heat and climate kills the

young healthy mortal quickly and painlessly due to special slow working

substances ingested before hand to preserve the body.

Tribes hold all chosen ones as lesser gods, and call them Nassk'mar and

remember their name until someone else becomes Nassk'mar.

Unknown to all in the tribe these Nassk'mar don't become gods. Like all

mortals they just die all alone in the vast space of Romainia. The desert rotsand burns their flesh and very soon they are a skeleton buried deep in the

sands. Then after 20 days and 20 nights they rise once more from the same

    slow working substances ingested.

    8

The Nasskmar is then drawn to travel the vast desert until he comes to the

Liche. Then they are made ready to join all the other skeletons that are in

    the service if Ra.

Normally these Nassk'mar are put straight into the work stations in the

dead city building monuments to Ra and the great Ra-num, and the many

strange creations of the servants of Ra.

Only after sometime are they put into service into the armies of Ra. When a

Nassk'mar is finally introduced into the army, he is not given the normal

armor and shield of the standard infantryman instead he dons a Humas (a

form of cattle that live in mountain areas) skinned shield and has a new

weapon made. Any armor given is also new; no Nassk'mar ever joins the ranks

of the blessed bowman of Romainia. Only Nasskmar from the tribe Tarnet

have that honor, only skeleton warriors who have spent much time in theranks of the infantry gain such an honor.

This can give water to all the tribes of Ra the tribe of Siha could have its

    monopoly of water broken.

Inform us on or when the construction of this Moisture Evaporator is being

undertaken, I personally want an idea on how many Ra-mu can build and how

    much water each can make?

Citadels NEW Finecast figures turn out to be a bit of a lame

The Citadel Finecast miniatures are all made from a unique resin formula.

For us as hobbyists, this is great news. The resin is easy to work with and

quick to cut off the sprue, making assembling a miniature easier than it has

ever been. Not only that, but it's incredibly light too, which means pinning

wings and other heavy components will be a thing of the past. So, quick

and durable, that's a good start. But of course, one of the main reasons for

this change to resin was quality. One thing you'll notice immediately when

you pick them up is the exceptionally sharp detail on the model, which can

only be described as staggering. For dedicated painters (which we all are

to some extent) this is a dream come true.

A number of hmmm interesting debates have been doing the rounds on Khemri.co.uk threads lately, they have consisted manly of the following:

Some fellow Tomb King players who think the special rule

does not make Tomb Kings units O-0?

Some fellow Tomb King players who think our Casketof Souls can shoot and therefore can pivot before casting its Light of Death?

Now, normally the debating of rules and rulings would be totally healthy and normal, but it seems thatin this case due to the total unintelligent babbling of senseless dribble the new army-book (or the timesin general) are giving birth to a special new type of twit.

I mean, Tomb Kings are not Undead? The Casket can shoot? Total stupidity

    POOFThe Magic Spider?

    Scenario played: None standard game.

I Serra blessed priestess of Ka-Ra Sekhmet flew the banners of the grand army of Ra

today. I was indeed honored to see Meaker and my fellow priestess Kiya with me on this

holy venture. This is the first time for me commanding our new battle formations.

An evil host of vile green-skins forced themselves upon us, I did not let them deliver us

into dust. Everything was working very well, our two Caskets sucked life from the green

menace and we quickly got the advantage.. Until

    POOF !!

I heard Kiya yell and Meaker point to our right flank, out of a strange green mist came a

BLOODY BIG SPIDER!! I was speechless, only our turn before we hit the thing dead on with

a flaming skull? And now it was in our deployment zone, travelling the whith of half thebattlefield with one spell? Of course the shaman who did this evil and traitorous act

suffered a magic feedback but unfortunately it was not life threatening.

Of course from then on this battle went downhill fast, Ra-zeem our defending King fought

with honor and strength with is holy skeletons against a mad WHAAA! Fueled Orc

Shaman, BigBoss and a Orc Battle Standard within a frenzied group of savage orcs.

In the end it was too much to bear At least that evil, nasty Spider Thing was dead!

    Ogres at Dawn

    Scenario: Dawn advance.

After my first attempt at using our new battle force I and my host were taken by surprise

by a force of Ogres, even though they suffered from it seems the same dumb luck of

their own battle line deployment I was left thinking

Why was our Heirotitian Bess the Holy deployed on our far left flank when me and Kyra

    came on our right?

Then it came, two direct hits from a lone Scarp-Launcher smashed down half of Ra-

zeems fifty rank and file skeleton warriors. I tried to heal some, but they failed our King

and pointlessly were crumbled by a small six man Ogre Bull unit.

We did gain ground slaying both the Butcher and Slaughter Master even though he really

guttered himself to death. A few more small victories and I managed to bring a smallhonor to our holy force.

Oh, praise be Ka-Ra Sekhmet this is Hard?
