The National Undergraduate Conference of Emergency Medicine Course Information
Course date: 24th November 2018
Venue: Kelvin Hall , Glasgow and Wolfson Medical School Attendance: 75 Delegates
Aimed at: Undergraduate students with an interest in emergency medicine
Conference Fee: £17.00
1
Following the success of previous years, the conference this year was divided into two parts.
The morning session involved four speakers who discussed different aspects of emergency medicine including a paediatric talk and the Scottish Ambulance Service.
The afternoon session involved three different workshops including carrying out A-E assessment, airway management, pelvic binding and management of trauma.
The aim of the event was to provide undergraduate students with an awareness of the various aspects of emergency medicine (SAS, pre-hospital, paediatrics etc) as well as some of the practical skills involved which delegates may not otherwise have had the opportunity to experience prior to graduation.
The conference was hugely beneficial for those considering the speciality as well as giving those unsure a taster of this speciality. Delegates were able to talk to specialists in this field and gain an insight into what is involved and how to apply for a training programme. Additionally there was advice on how to build an effective CV for this particular speciality.
