Like in every French Graduate School, the duration of the studies is 3 years, after 2 or 3 years of preparation (intensive undergraduate preparatory program in maths/physics and chemistry). ENSCL courses in the engineering curriculum aim at training engineers with a good understanding not only of chemistry and physical chemistry, but also chemical engineering and engineering sciences, for them to quickly adapt to different aspects of the engineering profession in a chemical, parachemical or materials science company. Research is focused on energy, catalysis, security and reliability of materials, and formulation chemistry. ENSCL greatly encourages an international orientation with a minimum stay of 3 months abroad. The learning of two mandatory foreign languages is part of this policy. ENSCL offers many opportunities of double-degrees (IFP School, Paris ; USA, Brazil, Germany, and Japan). ENSCL cultivates contacts with large industrial groups and maintains partnerships with universities throughout the world (European Union, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Japan, Mexico, Thailand, USA, Vietnam...). Due to the fact that the Graduate School is manageable in size, its students and teaching staff have been able to develop a good personal rapport. An International Welcome Club (Buddy Programme) run by ENSCL students offers a lot of services (assist students before and on arrival, organizes social and cultural activities and tandems). The National Graduate School of Engineering Chemistry of Lille (École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Lille, ENSCL) was founded in 1894 as the Chemistry Institute in the Lille Faculty of Science. It has a long history and strong interactions with industry. It is a public institution of higher learning supervised by the Ministry of National Education and Research and authorized to award the ENSCL engineering degree recognized by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (equivalent to a Master’s degree).

ENSCL courses in the engineering curriculum aim at training engineers with a good understanding not only of chemistry and physical chemistry, but also chemical engineering and engineering sciences, for them to quickly adapt to different aspects of the engineering profession in a chemical, parachemical or materials science company.

of materials, and formulation chemistry.
