DME research life cycle costing of SANS 204 interventions

In December 2007, DAH Joint Venture concluded their energy modeling, gy gresearch for the Department of Minerals and Energy to show how variousbuildings with SANS 204 specific energy efficiency interventionsperformed in different climate types This was published as; Report No –performed in different climate types. This was published as; Report No.OR-13554 Energy efficient homes and buildings; performance criteria forenergy efficient naturally ventilated buildings in South Africa.

The escalation rates for electricity costs provided in 2005 by NERSA,over the evaluation period, justified a level of 1.18% over the rate ofi fl ti (th i t 4 5%) It t d th th t 14 5%inflation (then running at 4.5%). It was reported then that a 14.5%increase was likely to be sanctioned by NERSA.

Over the past two years alone we have had increases in electricity tariffsto the effect of 25%.
